See how the ideas in your notes connect
Pick a note, a video, a file or a saved page and LunaNotes draws it as a diagram. It lands on a canvas where every shape and arrow is yours to move, relabel or delete.

One topic, six shapes. The AI picks the one that fits.
You don't choose a diagram type from a menu. The AI reads your material and draws the structure it actually has. Here is photosynthesis, six ways.
-
Flowchart · From sunlight to glucose
When the content is a process: steps, and what each one leads to.
-
Cycle · The Calvin cycle
When the last step feeds back into the first.
-
Comparison · Light reactions vs Calvin cycle
When two ideas are set side by side.
-
Hierarchy · Parts of a chloroplast
When parts belong to a whole.
-
Mind map · Photosynthesis
When one topic branches into many related ideas.
-
Timeline · Photosynthesis research
When events happen in order of time.
The shapes mean something
Arrows carry a label wherever the link isn't obvious, like “fuels” or “releases”.
- Rectangle a process or a concept
- Ellipse a start, an end or the topic
- Diamond a decision, with labelled branches
- Same colour ideas in the same group
You set how much it draws
Pick a level of detail, one of nine languages, and up to 1,000 characters of instructions on what to focus on or leave out.
- Simple 5 to 8 shapes
- Medium 10 to 15 shapes
- Detailed 15 to 25 shapes
The canvas is yours
A generated diagram is a first draft, not a picture. Every shape, label and arrow stays editable.
- Move shapes, rewrite labels, add or delete arrows
- Changes save on their own a moment after you stop
- Start from a blank canvas instead: no AI, no credits
- Workspace members see it too. Viewers can open it, not change it
Take it anywhere from the canvas menu
- PNG An image for slides and docs
- SVG Sharp at any size
- Clipboard Paste it straight in
- .excalidraw The editable file
Start one from wherever you are
The Diagrams page has Generate with AI. But a note, a video, your files and a saved page each have their own button that fills in the source for you.
- A note Generate diagram in its side panel
- A video Generate diagram on its page
- Your files Select several, get one diagram
- A saved page Its own diagram button
- The extension Diagram from this page
- The Assistant Ask for one in chat
Several sources, one diagram
Add up to 10: the lecture video, your note on it and the chapter PDF. When the material is long, LunaNotes draws from the passages most relevant to the diagram instead of everything. Or skip the sources and just describe the topic.
Ask the Assistant and it answers with a link to the same editable canvas, saved to your library.
How many you can make
Diagrams are counted per month. Blank canvases count too; editing never does.
A generated diagram usually uses about 20–40 credits, charged by what the AI actually used. If a generation fails, the credits held for it go back to your balance.
Compare plans| Plan | Diagrams a month | AI credits a month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | 1,000 |
| Starter | 20 | 30,000 |
| Plus | Unlimited | 120,000 |
Questions about AI diagrams
What people ask before they try it.
No. A diagram is made only when you ask for one: from the Diagrams page, a note, a video, your files, a saved page, or by asking the Assistant.
Yes. Generating a diagram is charged by what the AI actually used, usually about 20–40 credits. Drawing on a blank canvas and editing a diagram are free.
Yes. Every diagram opens on an editable canvas: move shapes, change labels, add or remove arrows. Changes save on their own. Diagrams made with our older system can be viewed but not edited.
Yes. Import a video and use Generate diagram on its page, or add it as a source on the Diagrams page. The diagram is drawn from the video's transcript.
Not from a menu. The AI picks the structure the content implies. To ask for a particular shape, say so in the instructions, for example draw it as a timeline.
On the Diagrams page of your workspace, and through library search, which finds a diagram by its title. Diagrams are their own item in your library, not part of a note.
Works even better with
AI diagrams is one part of LunaNotes. These pick up where it leaves off.
