OnePlus Open vs Moto Razr: Why I Wouldn't Trade My Foldable

All right, guys. Welcome back to another video. It's your man Jay here. We got to talk about it. A lot of you guys said

that you traded in the OnePlus Open and and some of you guys traded in your Pixels, your Galaxies and I said to you

guys, well, I'm keeping everything and I definitely wouldn't trade the OnePlus Open for the Moto Razr. And I'm going to

show you why in this video. Uh but in in the end, it's your choice. There's nothing wrong with the way you

tech. So, first thing we're going to do is we're going to start with hardware. Uh and challenger here

uh has some things to prove to the to the world and uh you know, this is this is just my opinion. Uh so,

don't take this as this is the final say-so. You make the choice that you want to make about why you're purchasing

what you're purchasing. Don't look to these videos as the final say-so and that I'm the information I'm giving you

is correct or incorrect. This is called an opinion. And so, we're going to start there. Now,

the hardware on these uh uh great. Both of them look pretty good. Uh but if just going to go with way it

looks right now on the rear, OnePlus. Um I like the texture of this. It's a little a little

little texture to it, but the OnePlus feels like it's way more grippy and it feels like it's real leather. Uh and I

think that, you know, while Motorola's first attempt is really good, I don't think it matches the

texture and feel of this device just based on the way it feels in the back of the phone and the way that it look. I

much prefer the circle camera uh over the uh squared camera right here.

While this is good and everything, it's better than some other modules, this looks way more uniform. It looks really

sleek. It looks really sexy and I really like the way this feels. I do not wear cases on most of my phones when I'm

around the house or even when I go outside, there's no case the majority of the time.

Uh and these phones both meet that qualification for walking outside and I feel safe. I'm not going to drop it

because there's a ton of grip. However, the OnePlus, while this phone is well almost two years I've had this for two

years almost two years or something like that. I don't even remember. Um

while this phone is much older, it still has aged extraordinarily well. So, I think a lot of people that might have

traded this in just wanted the new new. But, um when it comes to the overall rest of the physical hardware, I still

give that to the OnePlus Open. Um I like the alert slider. I like the brushed aluminum sides around here. I think

again this phone looks very uniformed. It just looks really really good in my opinion. And when it comes to the front

of the display, you have this regular style like regular size screen opposed to the more narrow screen on the

um on the uh Razer. But, the Razer has a more narrow screen because it has a

bigger display on the inner and the outer display. We'll get to that in a minute.

Uh but, um overall, I still prefer the hardware. I think this just

feels better, looks better in some ways. I like the matte border around the screen

there. I like matte the software uh on the um OnePlus as well. It These are close in software feel.

Uh but, the OnePlus' software is it's just it's polished when you when you see it next to Motorola.

Um I just really And you can do these large folders over here on Motorola. I just don't have any set up right now.

So, I'll I'll go ahead and do that right now. So, this has nothing to do with that, but let's just put this in here

and put this in here and uh put this in here. And then we'll just you just put it up here.

As you can see here, you can go big folder. So, but even so, you look at how it's

doing the big folders. It just looks And it has to be this way because of the ratio and the software everything, but

um it's good, man. Uh the there's nothing wrong with the software on the Motorola phone,

uh but I just much prefer the software on the um on the uh Oh, shoot. On the uh

the OnePlus, it just like I said, it just feels a little bit more polished. Um It's just uh It's a matter of

preference, man. So, you're going to be able to determine what you think is good or not. Uh but

I personally feel like they done a They OnePlus did a great job on this entire setup. And And obviously, you know,

they've Oppo, so they've got the backing, but you know, in the end, I just prefer the the OnePlus's uh

software experience uh for the customization and everything. I prefer the hardware. Uh and I just like the way

this one looks overall. So, an important factor for me was the cameras.

And the cameras on the uh Moto Razr are actually really good. So, what I'm going

to do right now is I'm going to pause this video, take a photo of a few things, and me. I'm going to take a

photo of just some random things on my desk. And what do I have here? I've got

my Pixel 10 Pro XL. Look for the comparison on this versus uh and I've got my OnePlus 15 sitting

here. My S26 Ultra sitting over here. I'm not going to take a picture I'm going to take a picture of

uh something else, and I'll take a picture of me.

Uh because the cameras are important. Uh I'm going to clean I'm only I'm going to focus on these rear cameras right here

because um the the front camera on this phone doesn't match this phone. I can tell you

that already. Uh however, the rear cameras is where most people will focus anyway. So, I'm making sure I'm cleaning

off uh these modules in the back. I'm not going to touch them. I'm going to pause the

video, and then I'll come back. Well, what you're going to see exactly what what the quality looks like right now.

Okay, so I've got both photos here next to each other and then here's the real item that I took a photo of.

Uh so what you're going to notice is if I look at the um and these are all at three times zoom.

So I look at this, this is more of like a gold tone and it could be just the lighting on which side of the counter I

took the the the picture on. However, it looks kind of silverish in in the

OnePlus. And then on the uh Razer, it looks more of the goldish color.

Yeah, so while neither one of them are really accurate, uh the Razer definitely took a more

accurate color tone. The color science and I've said this before, the color science behind uh

the Razer's cameras is absolutely great. It's it's just great. Now here's another uh photo here.

And if you notice already, the Razer tends to brighten up the photos. You can I don't know how well it comes across on

camera. I don't know how well the Z Fold 7 is actually doing to produce this, but to the naked eye,

the Razer tends to have phenomenal color science. It's just a little bit brighter than reality.

And here's the prop that I used for this. And so both of these

uh photos are a little bit brighter than the norm and both of them look really good, but the again, the Razer has a

more realistic tone, uh but the quality of the photo I lean more towards OnePlus.

OnePlus has uh it's sharper images, more detail. However, the color science when you sit it next to something so you can

always tell when something is, you know, good or not or what you say you have the best phone or put it next to another

phone and you'll see what really goes down. I just prefer the color science on the

Razer. It looks really, really sharp and really good. But, [snorts] the details on the um

on the OnePlus appear to be a little bit better in my opinion.

Now, here's another photo. Again, both of these photos taken in the same position.

And, you know, on on this one, again, the color science on the the Razer is really good.

And, these are both at 24 mm and the Razer is at F 1.6 and the uh Open is at F 1.7.

And, the ISOs are completely different, as well. 1250 ISO and I could very well lock these in manually, but most people

don't shoot in manual mode when they're taking things. They do auto. So, while I like the color science uh better on the

uh Razer, the details are in the photo on the Open.

The last photo is of me. Now, here's where the Razer doesn't fall apart, but

I just don't like it over uh the the Open at all. Again, the Open has way It does better at people, it appears.

Just based on what I see here, the Open does extraordinarily well with people.

Um the the These are both at 24 mm. And uh obviously, I know the ISOs are different uh and the F stop is

different. But, they're both at 24 mm. And, these are on auto. So, you look at the

the Razer and again, it brightens up everything. Sitting in the same position, and the and the color science

is good on here, but not with as much with people. I'm not really, really dark, but I'm also not this bright.

Um and this is way more accurate picture of me. This is what I actually look like.

Uh like a mocha brown. Uh and it's crazy when you're using different phones, they appear to be completely different.

Now, another thing that I think and both these cameras are great. I didn't know what to expect because I don't script my

reviews. I just think of a topic and I go with it and you know, maybe that's good or bad, I don't know, but um, some

things about the razor as you can see, this is a portrait photo. So,

the portrait shot on the razor is clearing up way more things in the background and I'm I'm not really the

subject. Like if you look around the bottom of my drawer right here, this is clear, too. And I would want

that to be blurred out. And on the on the open, it's a lot more blurry around and the focus is really on me.

Yeah. And then in the razor, I noticed that my eyes look a little uh,

a little like Oh, yeah, look at This is the truth teller right here. This is the truth teller.

This is an actual truth on what these phones are doing here. This is the Obviously, you guys know what I look

like. So, this is way more accurate for what I look like. And And this is kind of turning me like Leshawn would say

ashy Larry or something like that. It's making me brighter than what I actually am. Uh, and And again, the color science

is cool on on and really good on the um, on the razor, but it the the OnePlus Open just does a heck of a lot better

with people. And that is where a lot of phones fall apart trying to film us. It just can't do it. And this is what I

look like right now. This is exactly what I look like right now. Uh, and this is not what I look like. So, it's not

good or bad. It's just this isn't close to reality at all. This is accurate. And so, if you're a camera snob or a

camera buff and you you want what you consider probably to be some of the best sets of cameras on

phones, well, both of these are an option. Now, I'm going to pause real quick. and I'm going to do a short

snippet of a video. And again, I apologize for doing this over video with with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, but I

want to keep it in this aspect ratio, and I don't want to edit later. I'm just being 100

>> [laughter] >> being 100% honest. I don't want to edit later. I don't like it I don't like

doing post work. So, anyway, winner again is the OnePlus Open. And I mean, look at these. Come on, folks. I'm

not I'm totally not the person to call biased when it comes to review, cuz you guys know I love this Razer, but I

hadn't put it against anything officially. And the OnePlus Open is the one that got the most requests. I would

think it would be the Pixel 10 Pro XL Excuse me, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but the OnePlus Open is the one that's

getting the requests, because for some reason people traded this phone in for this phone. I I don't know.

Uh but now I'm going to take a a video with the rear cameras right here.

Uh and I'm going to do it uh just sitting in the same position right

here, and we'll we'll come right back. So, just keep watching. All right, a quick video was done here.

I'm going to crank the volume all the way up on here. So,

you're going to probably notice the same thing with with photos, but here we go. All right, guys. Now, here is the Razer,

and yeah, again, the Razer is great on video. But like I said, it appears that people

when it's trying to film us, we look much brighter than what we really are. All the filters and everything I There's

a microphone here, but it's not on. It's It's connected to the actual camera. Uh but uh to the Fold [clears throat] 7,

but you know, all the people that you can film, I just prefer the OnePlus Open, but this is phenomenal quality.

And again, I didn't know this until I actually started doing this video. Now I see.

But people who traded traded in the OnePlus Open, they must not have been camera people. I I don't know.

>> [clears throat] >> But this is the Razer. All right, so

now let's take a look at this Open. I don't know what you say, shake it

Uh I turned off portrait video because folks reality is the OnePlus Open kills All right guys, so this is the OnePlus

Open obviously. So no external microphones or anything. I'm just kind of I'm just literally sitting here

holding the phone. I could probably move it around. I know you see it shake it but

I turned off portrait video because folks reality is the OnePlus Open kills the Razer because the Razer in that area

you know that's important to me. That's why I says it say this but the OnePlus Open

has portrait video and it is extraordinary. It's really good. So I turned it off just to show you in this

position to give you a quick sample of of both phones. So here's the OnePlus Open.

And there you have it folks. That's that's video That's what the video looks like on on

both of these. That's what the video looks like on both of these. So I prefer the overall package so far.

Overall package OnePlus Open. OnePlus Open. And again, I know some people do it for the new new. They really want

what's coming new. And I you know I think if it was my only phone I might have made the jump too. I don't know.

But I think when you're a regular consumer you don't switch like that. You you don't hop around phone to phone like

that. You keep what you have until it breaks and that's that's a wrap. So

um overall I I still give the head nod to the OnePlus Open for what I've discussed

up to this point. Uh and and that's just that's just my opinion. Now looking at these external

displays here, here's where things get a little tricky for some people. The the OnePlus Open has the small display on

the outside and the inside. And this is something that you're just going to have to decide whether you

think it's good or bad. I like both of these. But again

when it comes to like regular functionality the the OnePlus Open is going to feel

better in your hand for longevity when like doing a This is going to feel better for phone calls cuz it's more

narrow, but this is probably going to feel better It's going to make you feel like you're just holding a regular slab

phone. Yeah. Now, obviously, the OnePlus Open is not

as thin as the um as the Razer, but the Razer has a This

is a good package and you know, I really didn't know how I felt about either one of these phones until I'm just now doing

this video. But uh you know, the screens on these are both good. The

Razer is obviously It appears to I don't have the same wallpaper, but in real life, like if you were looking at this

with the naked eye, you would notice that the Razer is ex- significantly brighter. Uh and that's just what it is.

So, I'm going to play a video on both these outer displays and then I'm going to play a video on the inner display for

both. So, let me get those loaded up and then you know, we'll talk about battery and get up out of here.

I'm going to turn the uh I have the volume turned down, but I'm going to hold these up as I view them. Uh and

it's going to play them here at the same time. Both of these look good, but again, the

Razer is a much brighter display. And that could be a good or a bad thing depending on who you're talking to, but

in in certain situations, the Razer screen looks okay. It doesn't look that much better than

the uh the other devices here. Uh they both look good, but here's where you get into again,

people. And so, the way the Open is displaying this content, it's just a hair better.

I mean, just a fraction better. The the with the Razer screen being so bright and vivid, it's trying to up It's

trying to up itself and just be better than what it has to be and it doesn't have to. Also, the sharpness and detail

in the color accuracy I And again, I'm filming this with the Fold 7, so I don't know how well the Fold 7's going to do

this, but the color of this car is not so much as bright red as it is on the Razer. And

again, this is just the way the screen technology is producing it. OnePlus killing it. It's It's It's a deep candy

apple red over here, and a more right cherry looking red over here when I'm looking at it with the naked eye. So,

while both are really good, I couldn't probably tell, you know, if if I didn't have I obviously wouldn't be

able to tell if I was using either one, but I really enjoy both screens. They're both good. However,

the the phones definitely are producing it differently. Uh so, let me open it up here.

And we're going to go this way. I'm going to go full. And I'll give a little volume to take

away that. And we're going to do it here. I'm going to go ahead and go full

screen. Give a little volume, take away that. All right. So, looking at these internal

displays, I'm going to zoom in and fill the screen on both of these. 1.7 there. 1.7 there. Oops.

All right. So, let's do that again. 1.7. Now, looking at these, they both again look extraordinary.

You You're just If you want to just a a very bright display, then the Razer is definitely for you,

but I think color accuracy still lives on this particular video. And again, I'm not saying that it's wrong or whatever,

but uh this This was filmed with the Pocket DJI Pocket 3. And the Pocket 3, obviously, we know has a good sensor,

and the colors are produced properly. But, in this scenario, the Open again is producing the better

um the better colors, and it's more accurate and to more to real life. This is more of a brighter cherry color on my

car, and this is a deep candy apple red that it should be. But, both are good.

Um the colors are just better over here when I'm watching this video. So, and that's just what it is.

So, now let's talk about uh one more thing and we'll get out of here. All right.

Uh couple more things. Let's first let's tackle battery. Um Razer. I mean, it and it but it's not I

say that so casually like that, but it's not that much better than the the OnePlus Open. Let's be clear here. It

has a 6,000 mA battery, but in my testing and usage the Razer just lasted let's give it

another hour more. Maybe an hour and a half, maybe.

And where the OnePlus wins is standby. It sips battery. I mean, the OnePlus sips battery.

And so, while the silicon technology this 6,000 mA battery versus this phone, it does

have better battery. But, I'm not noticing a full day more or anything like that. But, the Razer does

get out there and scoops a little bit longer, I should say. Uh um but overall,

um you know, the Razer is doing better on battery. There's There's just no other way to say it. But, some

are going to argue some are going to try to use the fact that it does have a 6,000, so it should have bigger more

battery life. That's not entirely true. Uh it it because remember, you're look you're looking at you're hearing me talk

about my battery experience with my usage and I don't have the same apps that you have on your phone.

And I don't use my phone the way you you you use your phone. Some people often ask me, "How did you get so much battery

out of How are you going a day and a half? How are you going two days?" Well, I don't like social media like that.

I do what I need to do and I get off and I'm going about my situation, my life, and I'm gone. So, uh

>> [clears throat] >> I'll get a lot of battery out of devices because I don't stay on my phone very

long. I like to watch TV, I like to exercise, I like to go for to do things. I mean, there's other

things than being on social media. However, I do have to give it to the Razer. It

has done great uh with battery life. It's really good. Now, these

uh phones are kind of in the same bracket. I don't even remember what this cost brand new.

Was this $15.99 or $17.99? Uh end result is they're both basically almost $2,000, right?

And I'm going to, you know, again, the OnePlus Open has aged extraordinarily

well. I will not get rid of this phone. It's going to have to be for another version of this phone. And I probably

still wouldn't get rid of it then. I don't even know. Uh but

price-wise, I got a good deal on both of these. Um I got a good deal on both.

Uh a really good deal. And I'm excited about that. But they're they're both overpriced

uh for what they are. They're both overpriced. Uh they're not delicate phones at all.

You know, I've dropped I definitely dropped this phone. Haven't dropped this one yet, but I've definitely dropped

this phone. And I just really I really like um how it's held up. Uh I I have them

open like that because, you know, that's where you should be using this. If you're getting a phone like this, I

would think that you would have it open more than closed. But um my final verdict, folks, my final

verdict uh on these is that I prefer Now that I'm looking because, you know, I've been

posting a lot of Razer content. But again, I don't script videos and and I just go with whatever, man. I just go

I just do whatever I want to do at the time um cuz I don't work for anybody and I don't have these set schedules for

production and all that kind of junk. I just want to do what I want to do and have fun with this stuff cuz if it

starts to feel like work, I am out. I'm not going to tell you, "Oh, this is my last video." I'm just out. I'm gone. I'm

going to go to the beach or something. Uh but I got to say um shout out to the Z Fold 7. I will compare that phone as

well if you want me to. Um and also my Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Oh, love this phone.

Um I will compare this phone to to the phones that I have in in stock

foldables. But I still think that the Razer is a top-notch phone. I absolutely love it.

I'm daily driving this, obviously, along with my Pixel 10 Pro. I I have this thing about Pixels, man. Um

and plus I like small powerhouse phones. And so my two go-to phones, on side note here, are the OnePlus the the the

OnePlus the Pixel 10 Pro, the small variant, and the iPhone 17 Pro. Even though I have the other versions of

these phones, I just go back to those. I like a small phone, it's compact, that if I do want to put a case on it, I can.

If I just want I just want something in my pocket it's not there. Cuz sometimes, if I go for a walk or or something or

run or something or slight run. I don't really run anymore, but if I go for a long walk for an hour or whatever, I

don't want to feel something in my pocket. You know, I just don't want to do it, so.

Uh small phones is where it's at. And so maybe that's why I still favor the OnePlus Open a little bit more.

Actually, a lot more, probably, based on what I just showed you. Uh but it's just a good phone, man. You know, I think the

the OnePlus wins for me. Those who traded in this phone and took a $375 pay in. Some of you guys didn't even get

your money. I heard that trade-in program with the Razer is a scam. You guys are starting to report to me that

you guys are getting different prices and stuff like that. Like I said, Samsung is king of trade-ins and they

probably always will be as long as they have those good deals and their phones are great, so. Shout out to the Full 7

for producing this video for you guys. Hope you guys enjoyed this aspect ratio I'm back on my on my hashtag open up

videos while I'm doing all these foldables. I'll try to continue to do this for you cuz a lot of you guys are

using foldables. Regardless of what people say, foldables just aren't it yet. No, nope. Foldables have been in

for quite some time and they're going to keep on getting better. And you Some people might just be afraid to try a

foldable. Uh but you Once you do it, it's going to be very difficult to go back to a slab

as your regular phone, especially if you were using a slab for so long, the excitement is going to really take it to

the next level. And you know, there's so much about this phone. Just looking at my alert slider, I I just I just love

it, man. So, I really think this is a very snappy phone. Um it it definitely deserves to win.

It's aged well. It's Again, it's my opinion, but I think this phone has aged extraordinarily well.

And the Razer is a hot item right now. I get it, but when something's tried and true and tested and it's been in the

hands of consumers longer, this is what you probably would notice. No bias here at all, none whatsoever.

I just like this hardware better. I like the camera module better. I like the feel of it better. I like the video

quality better and the photos portrait photos are better on here. Regular photos are better on here

for of people. This phone appears to do better as I recap for you. This phone appears to do

better of of things that I've taken photos of, especially greenery and grass. I didn't do anything like that

cuz it's actually storming outside right now, so I'm not going out there. But in the end, when it comes to a total

package, this may win in battery and color science is pretty decent for taking pictures of certain things. Video

is extraordinary, but this is a better package, I think. And this is a seasoned product. It's

been out for what, 2 years now or something? And it's holding up well. So, if you

want to know how I felt about both of these, I don't know how people traded in the OnePlus Open.

Well, I know how because we all have different needs and we use phones differently, so I shouldn't say that.

But what I will say is that I wouldn't give up my OnePlus Open for the Motorola Razer as much as I love the Motorola
