Design and Build: Thinner vs Wider Showdown
The Motorola RAZR Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold take very different approaches to design. Audio and Connectivity

Final Verdict
The Motorola RAZR Fold excels in performance, battery life, and multitasking, making it ideal for power users. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers a more polished pure Android experience with excellent cameras (upcoming review) but falls short in speed and endurance. Choose based on your priorities: raw power and flexibility (Motorola) vs software refinement and camera smarts (Pixel).
Today on GOT, we are going to compare the Motorola RAZR Fold to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Now, this is really
interesting because they are so much so different on the exterior and look and feel, but very similar on the inside.
So, as I always do, we're going to start off with the look and feel in the two of them. They look and feel pretty good.
You know, right from the get-go, this one is much heavier, okay? This one is 258 g versus 243 g. I know it doesn't
sound like a lot, but this one is definitely lighter in the hand. You can see it, you know, or you can feel it
just by holding them cuz the Motorola, or the Pixel Fold, I mean, is much wider. I mean, check that out. It's It's
quite a bit wider. You can see that. You know, when you put them like this, you can barely see it, but they are
wider from side to side, but it is shorter when you put them line them up like this. So, the profiles are quite a
bit different. And what When looking at the back of them, you can see here there's the similarity as far as going
with a square instead of a straight line, you know, which is great because it prevents them from having the Samsung
wobble. So, they are both really solid in that. Now, talking about the screens, the Pixel is a 6.4-in screen as far as
in diagonal, where this one is a 6.6-in screen. So, quite a bit, and that's because, as you know, it's longer
or taller. And once we turn these on, we'll see what the real difference is. Now, as far as the hinge goes on both of
them, when you look at the hinge, you can see that they don't look too much different. I mean, the Pixel still looks
fairly thin, but it I think it's obvious how much thinner the Motorola is. I mean, when we talk about the dimensions,
the Motorola is actually 10.1 mm thick versus the Pixel Fold, which is
10.8 mm thick. I don't know if you can see the difference there. I think you probably can. So, when they're closed,
yes, the Pixel is quite a bit larger or thicker. Now, let's look at the buttons
here together. You can see they handle the buttons a little bit different here on the Pixel. It's one solid button for
the volume and what really bugs me and everybody else is Pixel decided to flip the volume and the power button from
everybody else. It's so annoying. So, it's the power button on top and the volume on the bottom versus every other
Android power on the bottom and volume on the top. Of course, the Motorola has the split volume
and the AI button, which I don't care for these being so close together and this being split because you can confuse
them if you're not looking. Now, looking at the the bottom of these phones, you can see the speaker layout. You have
a speaker here and speaker here. I've got both phones facing the same direction. And of course, the USB-C
port. And you have the SIM card at the bottom here on the Motorola. But on the Pixel, and this happens to be
the only Pixel left that takes a SIM card. So, anyway, on the other side here, you can see there's the SIM tray
on the Pixel. And you can see the the sound right there or the speaker.
Okay, now let's go ahead and boot them both up and see which one boots up faster. Go ahead and make your
prediction now. We've got the fingerprint reader power button on both of them, so that's the same. So, what
I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and press them both at the same time. Whichever one vibrates first, I'll let
you know, and of course, that's when I will release the button. So, here we go. And the Pixel vibrated first and then
the Razer right after that. So, that's pretty impressive. Now, the Pixel we know has the G5 chip. Oh my goodness,
look at that. That was fast. It is up already. So, that's their own G5 chip. Where on the Razer it has a Snapdragon 8
Gen 5 chip in it. And you can see there it just booted up this well. But, wow, the Pixel booted faster. That's pretty
impressive. Okay, now they're both booted up and we'll go ahead and look at them and compare them. Now, you can see
here I have them dimmed down quite a bit so that they don't blast out over the video everything or else everything will
be washed out and you wouldn't be able to see anything. Now, last time or my last comparison video people were
thinking that the Motorola was really washed out. But, that's just it. I I had to dim them. And as you can see, the
dimming everything set up here is pretty much the same. You know, while we're here in the control panel you can see
that. They look very much the same. So, you've got the natural Android setup here on the
Motorola. So, they're copying or at least they're staying true to the pure Android just like you see here on the
Pixel. Now, something else I want to show you on the layout is you can see you got the power button
here so you can turn it off. I like that, you know. Some of these you have to search for and turn the power button
or hold that and the volume up or down button to get it to turn off. I think it's crazy. I think
they should be open. But, look at these. They work pretty much the same. Hit the power button
and then you get this same menu and if you hit power off they both just shut down
just the same. Now, I just did that just to show you that, you know, they are all a lot alike on the inside as far as the
OS. You know, more pure Android compared to everything else. And what is different here on the Motorola is you
can actually size these folders. You can make them large or small. That's the one thing you cannot do here on the Pixel.
It doesn't have any of those features. Even with the new update to Android 17 you still can't do it. And of course,
they both have the news feed where they go really smooth. So, very similar there. So, there is a
little more customizing you can do on the Motorola Razer. And you can see here, too, you can take and you can
remove this as well. That is just a widget over here. This is the clock widget.
But, over here, you got the weather and everything, you cannot remove it. You can change settings in it, but you
cannot remove it. It is locked in. Same with the Google bar, you cannot remove it. You can only change it. You know,
widget settings, you could do some stuff with it. Over here, you see, I don't even have the Google bar here. Don't
need it. Simply cuz you can ask Google to do stuff. It's just really silly that you use this bar and then it just opens
up a search. You know, for me, it's just wasted space. I would rather have my app dock right here on the display. And
then, of course, you know, if you go into an app, it disappears. Now, as far as the way they perform, you know, they
perform pretty much the same here. That just went for the day where I went to the calendar, but they opened up pretty
good there. Let's open up the Play Store together. You know, pretty comparable.
Now, let's go ahead open these things up, open this up and put them side by side here.
And then we'll look at the inside. Now, here we are on the inside screen and you can see the big difference, how much
taller this one. This is an 8.1 in versus an 8-in here across diagonal. I do like the little bit larger, but I
think as far as this one being a square, you know, you don't have as much options if you go to landscape mode. So, when
you turn this one, you know, to landscape mode, it's still a little bit larger. And where this one, it's the
exact same thing in landscape mode. There's really no difference. I'm going to show you real quick the batteries on
these things. You can see right here, you got 36% versus 63%. The reason why is yesterday I took these out and did my
photo shoot on both of them, and this is the next day. So, you can see that the Pixel has drained quite a bit more
because of battery size differences. You have a 5,015 mA hour battery here on the Pixel and a 6,000 mA hour battery on the
Motorola Razr. So, quite a bit of difference, and you can see that in performance. Now, the Pixel did just
come out with that update, so it's supposed to actually make the battery last longer, but you know, right out of
the gate, it's not going to really do that. It's probably going to take some time to really average that out to
really improve the battery. So, I am looking forward to that happening. So, now I'm going to the about page here on
the Motorola cuz it does give you a little more information. Pixel doesn't have anything like that. I don't know
understand why. If I went to the about, it would give you my phone number and everything else, but it does have
Android 17 on the Pixel versus Android 16 over here. You got 16 GB of RAM. You do have 16 GB of RAM here on the Pixel.
This has got 512 storage. You only get 256 with the Pixel, and that was with the
buying at release date. They don't really upgrade that storage all that much unless it upgraded from 128. I
don't remember, but 256, they need to offer more up for the baseline. And then this goes on to tell you about the
cameras and the display. And you got the Bose sound system, which we'll listen to that here in just a moment. Now, when
you go into your control center, just a single swipe, you can see they both do the exact same thing. They pull it down
on both sides, so you get your notification here in your control panel, same thing here. So, that's pretty
interesting. And of course, the power and settings button right there. Very similar.
Now, while they're similar there in the control panel, they couldn't be more different here in the camera. So, if you
open up the camera, you can see the layout is quite a bit different. Over here, it's interesting, you can go to
photos and videos all here on the same line, where on the Pixel, everything here is on photos. Once you click this
button, now it's video. I kind of like that so that now you know that you're not going to switch from video to photo
that easy. So, that's pretty nice. But, when actually going into the camera settings
here, you can see you can go up to 8K and 8K 30 here on the Motorola. You can't do that over here on the Pixel.
The Pixel you just go 4K, that's it. And 4K and 1080p, those are the only op- You can go up to 60 frames per second, you
know, but that's it because the cameras are not really flagship on the Pixel. And you can run HDR uh 10-bit, which is
what I typically shoot on the Pixel. Now, that's as deep a dive I can compare as I want to get on the cameras right
right now. That's a whole 'nother video to really look at the specs on these cameras and how they operate. But, let's
get back to these displays. So, you can see right here, I don't know if you can see the the line in the middle of them.
But, let's go ahead and and pick them both up and let's see. So, looking at these closely, you you can see where is
the crease? Can you see it on one over the other? You know, it's for me a lot more prominent on the Pixel. I don't
know what you're seeing there on the camera. Hopefully, you can see it and make it out. But, when you put these
both down and in front of you, you know, the crease just kind of disappears. Enough said about the
crease. Now, let's get into multitasking on these two because here's another huge difference.
So, on both these, let's go ahead and open up Edge and you can see when you open up an app, it's pretty much the
same. Now, when it comes to multitasking, this is a totally different view
or approach and that's all because of the UI that's put on top of the Motorola. For example, here on the
Motorola, you can use a three-finger swipe and see it put everything to side and then you can grab a second app and
just throw it up there. So, now you have two apps side by side, which is a really nice way to go. Over here on the Pixel,
you have no swiping capabilities. Okay? I mean, that's just going to close it. And there is Notice how there's a tap
three dots up here. You never get any three dots at the top of the Pixel. You know, it's quite a bit different
philosophy. I guess they figure you only need two apps at a time. But in order to get a second app here, you just swipe up
from the bottom and you can go here to the app drawer and then look for the app that you want. And notice there's no
letters, no nothing here to get you there quickly. I'm going to find the Play Store so I just got to go through
it here. And there's a Play Store. You just grab it and you drag it over and now you have
the two apps side by side. And then when you hit this button here, it's got these arrows but all they do is move it. So
now you have a 90/10 split and you can jump from side to side to look at these apps a little more full size, okay? But
at least it makes them both full size and we'll see how that really plays into the way this was designed here in a
little bit. So that's kind of nice. You can look at both apps full size or if you want to, you can tap this, close it
there. And then that's where it ends, okay? So now this is an even split on both of
them. Now when you go over to the Motorola, it's quite a bit different. You could
take this and you could slide this over but it automatically snaps, okay? To that side. But I can switch them in a
carousel. I don't have to move my finger like I did over here, you know? When I take these, I've got to cross the
screen. So it's quite a bit more movement. I can't just go back, okay? It's quite a bit more movement. Whereas
here you just tap and go. I like that a whole lot better. And then over here, let's say
I want to add a third app. I have several options. I can either take an app here and drag it over.
I'll just grab the calculator here. I can take it here. I can do a free form or it becomes a floater or I can take it
up here and now it's a third app. So, you got three apps here, all side by side. Now, here's where a
similarity comes into play. Remember when you took this from half to this? This didn't say small, it stayed
They both enlarged. Well, on most phones when you do that, only the app that you spread out stays large.
That is on the Samsung and the Honor and the Oppo, you know? They don't all enlarge, only the one that you stretched
out. Well, here, if I take this one and I stretch it out, check this out. All three are enlarged, okay?
That's the similarity with the Pixel. When you enlarge one app, it enlarges them all. And then there's even more
multitasking you do on the Motorola. If you want to, you can add another app as a floater. So, you go here, and let me
just tap my photos, and now my photos is right there in the center, and I can
actually resize it, but if I go too far, it goes full screen. Okay? But I can resize it up to about right there, and
then if I go small, it'll snap it to the corner, and then just tap it, it comes in here. And then if you want to, you
can throw it to the side, or what I prefer to do is just hit here and hit minimize, and now there it is on the
side. And I can do that again for another app. So, let's go ahead and do Chrome. Now, Chrome's right there,
you can do the same thing. I can take that and I can minimize it. And let's just do one more just for the sake of
doing it. We can add another one, and let's just do my calendar, and then my calendar is
there floating as well. And I can enlarge it just a little bit, and then I can take it and I can minimize it. Now,
over here you can see I got three minimized, and you can do up to five minimized right there on the side, and
that would give you five plus three right here on the page. So, that's a total eight apps open at the same time.
Now, on Pixel it's a little bit different that they have this thing called bubbles. So, I'll take this, and
notice if I long press, I don't get that option. I can actually replace an app just by clicking on that button. And if
I want to replace it, let's just go ahead and replace it with mail. See how it replaces that button
or that one. I don't know how it chose which one to replace, but now let's go ahead and see if we can create another
bubble. And I'm going to see will my Bible do a bubble? No, it will not do a bubble.
Will the calendar work? Will calendar do a bubble? Okay, the calendar will do a bubble. So, there's the calendar. It's
on a bubble and as you can see here. And what's interesting is you can see I've got
them down here on this line. You can see there's the bubble and I can has mail on a bubble, too, which is interesting.
So, if I click on that, there's my mail and there's my calendar.
But, you are supposed to be able to dismiss it. It's supposed to go off when you touch anything on There it went.
Finally, it shrunk down. Okay. That's what it's supposed to do. Okay.
It's supposed to shrink down. And now if I want to pull something up, I can pick which one I want to pull up. And
there there we go. So, now that's working like it's supposed to. Now, what if I go here and if I want to take
my email app, what are the options? It just It will dismiss the bubble. So, let's see. Ah, it worked. It dismissed
the bubble that time. So, that's multitasking. So, here we are on YouTube and the layout looks very similar on
both of them. You know, you can scan your videos one way or another here. So, that's really great.
Now, let's go ahead and open up video on both of them. You can see there it was about the same. They did both
do the same here. And you've got the lettering here. And let me go ahead and go full screen on both of them here. And
you can see they are pretty much the same size. And if you turn them to landscape, you've got the same thing.
Turn them both the landscape and you have pretty much the same thing. Now, you can see here I still have those
apps opened up on the side. And you can actually move that up if you want to. But, notice how here they both
have the cameras here on the bottom, which is something I prefer, so when you're watching a video it's out of the
way. Now, let's go ahead and test audio on both of them. So, let's go ahead and
we'll start with the Pixel. We'll turn up that volume. The other you know, where especially the Samsung on the one
side and it's just more of an app menu. And then on both of these you can go ahead and swap, of course, and then you
can change them to And then here, let's go about 80%. This
one you got to pull and hold for a moment before it comes out. I don't like that, but I do like that it has two
rows, which is really cool. And then if I tap on a gallery it'll
I'll go ahead and turn the volume up on this one. And the tower is about half a mile, 3/4 of a mile from me, so it's not
far off. So, these ship run right underneath the tower they get up to about 1,000, at least the Motorola does.
It gets the highest. That's a little too loud and does distort a bit. Let's turn this one up all the way. I'll right here
and open it up right here as a floating window. I do and do the exact same thing. See, that's instant. I don't like
that. It comes right out. I can do the exact same thing and I'll have Okay, there we go. We go ahead and run a test
this one. You know, and I haven't found a problem with the full screen. So, that's about the furthest or the largest
you can go. So, as you can see there the Pixel does get a bit a little bit louder. It's
because it's got a thicker chamber because it is thicker, but it also does distort a bit. So, both of them, if you
have them at 80%, I think they both sound really great. Motorola does add just a little bit more bass and I think
that's due to the Bose technology. Now, when it comes to the screens on both of these,
you know, when you go outside, they're pretty much the same. Even though on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold it's supposed to be
3,000 nits max and 6,000 nits max on the Motorola on the main screen and on the inside 6,200 on the Motorola and only
3,000 on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. You know, so when it comes to nits, again, they lie. It's all advertising. I don't
think you can believe the specs on that but because they both view just about the same. Now, this last update on the
Pixel 9 Pro Fold, supposedly the upgrade has helped the signal for the cellular cuz apparently people have had some
issues. So, let's see what happens here. We're going to turn that on and let's see what kind of speeds it gets here.
Now, I'm about 3/4 of a mile or so from the nearest tower and when I'm sitting at the tower, these things will get
close to a gigabit download speed and about half that upload. Let's see what we get here 3/4 of a mile away. The
Pixel's doing pretty good. It's got that over 400 459 and then the upload speed quite a bit slower. You know, we're just
doing a little bit over 300. And I can go ahead and get this one going. I don't know why I waited. Well, over here
it's not quite as great on the upload speed but you can see the download speed is doing okay and I don't know if they
interfere with anything when they're going to tower. I don't think they do but you can see here the download speed
is pretty much consistent with with the Motorola. They're really close, I'd say. Well, the upload speed on the Motorola
is horrible. You know, so even the Pixel does better on the upload speed. All my other phones
upload better from here on the cellular signal. I'm not sure why Motorola suffers a little bit. So, if Pixel was
having a little issue before I'm guessing they resolved it cuz I'm not seeing an issue. Now, I'm going to
run a quick performance test between the two of them. You know, you can't believe specs on paper but the G5, I think is
pretty much the slowest when it comes to performance and the way I test it is I have them render a video. Now, I'm going
to export them both in 4K which is basically rendering it and we're going to go ahead and time it and see how they
do. So, as you can see here they're ready to export in 4K and we'll go ahead and I'm going to start them and then
we'll start the timer here and there we go. We'll start the timer. Now, if you've seen any of my other videos, you
know that the Motorola blew away everybody else. It It beat even my previous winner, which was the
Honor Magic V5 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chips just don't or the elite ones just don't do well. They throttle too
much. So, even this Gen 5 without the elite beats those elite chips. But, as you can see here, the Pixel is just a
very poor showing when it comes to doing anything that takes a lot of performance. You know, we're almost done
here. We're at 85%. We're cooking. We're going to be right at 100% here while the Pixel is still at 42%.
I'm not even going to continue this test because it's just kind of a embarrassing competition. So, as you can
see that G5 chip just doesn't quite compete when it comes to performance and I hear the same thing in gaming.
Although, you can do basic gaming and even some top-tier gaming, but nowhere near like you can on a Snapdragon phone.
Now, there's my full comparison on the Motorola Razr Fold and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. As you can see in the video, they
are very similar in a lot of ways, but then also very different. Now, I didn't do the photo or video review on this
