Hello Ji!

[00:02]

I'm starting journey of Punjab with a cup of tea.

[00:05]

This is BTS Episode 1.

[00:11]

I'm having tea at a highway in Karnal.

[00:16]

This is such a decorative presentation of tea.

[00:19]

There is foam on top and garnished with kesar (saffron).

[00:23]

Best thing is they served tea with rusk, which I enjoy eating.

[00:29]

I am beside Haveli Restaurant and Vivan Hotel in Karnal.

[00:36]

This is G.T. Road in front of you.

[00:40]

Usually, I dip rusk in tea and have.

[00:44]

I'm seeing soo much foam on tea first time.

[00:49]

I really liked how they served tea.

[00:58]

The tea is good.

[01:00]

In ancient times, tea was served in Kulhad (earthen cups).

[01:04]

But now having tea in Kulhad has become premium experience.

[01:10]

I have never seen almonds and raisins in tea.

[01:14]

Here is almond and raisins which was used for garnishing.

[01:23]

Something different!

[01:24]

The place and taste of tea both are good.

[01:27]

We began this journey by having tea.

[01:31]

From here I will go to Patiala and make first episode.

[01:37]

It is 12:30PM now.

[01:41]

I'll have lunch at Ambala or Rajpura then head to Patiala.

[01:46]

We are going to Patiala for this planning.

[01:48]

We will cover Patiala, Jalandhar, Hari Ke Pattan and Firozpur.

[01:58]

Then we will go to Bhatinda.

[02:00]

Did you like Udaipur series?

[02:01]

Yes, Udaipur, the temples of South India all were great.

[02:06]

I visited many ancient temples.

[02:08]

You can also visit Gwalior.

[02:10]

We have covered Gwalior in our videos.

[02:12]

You might have missed, but people liked Gwalior, Jhansi series.

[02:17]

Okay sir.

[02:22]

I drive my car slow.

[02:25]

If I take a halt, it becomes a long break.

[02:28]

I spent 45 minutes where I stopped to have tea.

[02:32]

We took quite sometime.

[02:34]

We have two choices for lunch, Ambala or Rajpura.

[02:40]

It is 2PM now.

[02:42]

I'll reach Ambala by 3PM and Rajpura by 3:30PM.

[02:46]

Let's see.

[02:47]

Meanwhile, I hurt my hand on last Odisha waterfall visit.

[02:53]

It was at Chaulabhaja Waterfall, Mayurbhanj district.

[02:57]

I didn't pay attention earlier,

[03:00]

but later doctor recommended this for the pain.

[03:03]

This has been suggested to give my thumb rest.

[03:05]

Though I don't do much of heavy work.

[03:09]

But the X-Ray wasn't very clear.

[03:14]

Looking forward to a great Punjab tour.

[03:18]

My personal challenge I might face with Punjab journey is..

[03:21]

.. I can't afford to gain more than 1KG weight.

[03:24]

I posted my current weight on YouTube community.

[03:27]

I tend to gain 1KG after a tour.

[03:31]

I think I might gain more than a KG on Punjab tour.

[03:34]

But that is the challenge to not gain more than 1KG weight.

[03:39]

I am very sensitive with my weight these days.

[03:43]

That cargo train is running on dedicated freight corridor.

[03:48]

There are 2 such corridors, one from Ludhiana to East.

[03:55]

The other corridor is from Punjab to the West side.

[03:57]

This cargo train doesn't stop anywhere.

[04:00]

It doesn't stop at railway crossings and is run at priority.

[04:06]

This is because this cargo train runs on its dedicated route.

[04:09]

I am going to Rajpura now.

[04:11]

I will reach Rajpura in 15-20 minutes.

[04:15]

Rajpura is a gateway to Punjab.

[04:19]

You can visit multiple big cities of Punjab from Rajpura.

[04:28]

I'm going there for lunch to have a special type of Poori.

[04:36]

This Poori is made by stuffing with black gram.

[04:40]

They add black gram on the outside of the dough as well.

[04:44]

Let me taste it and tell you more about this food item.

[04:47]

If you show this thali to someone,

[04:50]

he might be confused to call it poori.

[04:55]

It looks more like matthi, in terms of texture.

[05:00]

I have traveled so much, but I have never had this type of Poori.

[05:06]

This is a completely different food item, evident from texture.

[05:22]

What a taste!

[05:24]

In just one bite, it tastes soo different.

[05:32]

Matthi is not folded in this way usually.

[05:35]

This folds easily.

[05:38]

It has black gram on outside and with stuffing of it too.

[05:42]

This has changed the taste of it too.

[05:54]

Poori is tasty and crispy too.

[05:57]

The stuffing is also flavoured.

[06:01]

Chola tastes good too.

[06:03]

Now I feel like I am Punjab.

[06:07]

The food has the taste of Punjab.

[06:12]

I can already predict how great upcoming days will be.

[06:31]

I have never tasted wadi of this type before.

[06:36]

It is different, with mild masala.

[06:41]

It is a bit tangy due to tamarind.

[06:43]

Wadi is prepared from Turkish gram.

[06:48]

It is something completely different.

[06:54]

If you come here in the future, don't miss wadi.

[06:57]

You will enjoy it.

[07:01]

Patiala is 40 minutes away from here.

[07:04]

I have scheduled subscriber meet-up for 6PM.

[07:07]

I posted about it on YouTube community on the way.

[07:10]

I also post updates on Instagram stories for subscriber meet.

[07:15]

Many a times, people are unaware were I post about meet-ups.

[07:20]

See you after sometime.

[07:31]

We have reached Patiala.

[07:34]

I have booked accommodation at Heritage villa.

[07:37]

Let us see the room first.

[07:40]

The subscribers will be here soon.

[07:43]

This is a common area.

[07:49]

The room and location of this property is good.

[07:54]

We are in the heart of the city.

[07:56]

They have a garden and property is a little away from main road

[08:05]

In double occupancy, tariff is Rs 2700.

[08:15]

I'll take out the luggage later, first let us go down.

[08:20]

Hello Ji! Please sit. So, you are all from Patiala?

[08:25]

Fantastic!

[08:27]

How are you?

[08:28]

Please sit.

[08:29]

I hurt my hand.

[08:32]

Who saw my Mayurbhanj episode?

[08:34]

When I visited Chaulabhaja Waterfall in Mayurbhanj..

[08:40]

I slipped there and have been told to use this by the doctor.

[08:46]

In Puga Valley, Ladakh also I saw geothermal activity.

[08:49]

But this Daldali concept was better.

[08:53]

Another wonderful place in Chhattisgarh is Ulta Pani.

[08:59]

At Ulta Pani, the water flows from bottom to top.

[09:08]

I saw your videos and visited Lucknow.

[09:16]

I was born in Assam.

[09:23]

Yes, Digboy in Assam.

[09:29]

Nice to meet you.

[09:33]

Thanks for coming.

[09:36]

I may plan a meet-up again when I return.

[09:43]

I have to meet someone in Chandigarh on return journey.

[09:48]

So, after Bhatinda, I might stop again at Patiala.

[09:54]

There is a 50%-80% chance I might stop here.

[09:59]

Thanks for coming.

[10:02]

So nice of you.

[10:09]

Good Morning! It is 6:30AM now.

[10:12]

I am going to Baradari Gardens, 1.5KM away.

[10:18]

I will do morning walk there for about 45 minutes.

[10:22]

As it is winter, the Sun will rise by 6:45AM.

[10:29]

Keeping big cities in mind,

[10:32]

even in the evening there is not much traffic in Patiala.

[10:38]

The traffic is less and the roads are broad.

[10:47]

We have reached Baradari Gardens.

[11:04]

This is such a beautiful tree.

[11:12]

Beautiful!

[11:14]

The walking trail is good with huge gardens on either side.

[11:18]

You will get a feel of walking in a wide space.

[11:27]

I have two major issues health-wise.

[11:30]

First is Sleep Apnea.

[11:32]

Second is Meniscus Tear.

[11:33]

I have had a surgery for Meniscus Tear in left knee.

[11:37]

There are multiple tears in the right knee.

[11:39]

I am alright for the past three years.

[11:40]

There are no issues, but one has to take precaution.

[11:43]

If I walk 40 minutes daily..

[11:48]

...I do some muscle strengthening exercises for 10-15 minutes..

[11:52]

..along with deep breathing of 40 minutes..

[11:54]

If I spend 1.5 hours each day, these problems will be in control.

[12:01]

In this way, Sleep Apnea can be controlled by 70%-80%.

[12:08]

I don't know why I don't pay attention to these exercises.

[12:12]

You can say I might be giving priority to something else then.

[12:19]

It is technically wrong, but this is the truth.

[12:29]

I did a good morning walk.

[12:31]

I enjoyed fresh cool breeze.

[12:34]

I'm going to my hotel from here.

[12:36]

This garden is called Baradari Garden as it has 12 gates.

[12:44]

Let us go from here.

[12:49]

Hello Ji! How are you?

[12:58]

I was going to the hotel and saw some people pick-up garbage.

[13:05]

I was curious to find out what type of work this group does.

[13:11]

I met and spoke to this group.

[13:18]

They have collected all this garbage.

[13:21]

I want to understand what type of volunteer work they do.

[13:26]

It's a group we call, 'My Patiala, I will keep it clean'.

[13:33]

It is a community-driven initiative, by the citizens..

[13:37]

..we are all very respected citizens of our society.

[13:40]

We clean-up Patiala 2 days a week, one hour each.

[13:48]

We clean-up the plastic, we feel microplastic is reaching our food.

[13:52]

We clean the plastic and other garbage.

[13:55]

We have done 47 drives so far.

[13:58]

We collected more than 20,000KG garbage so far.

[14:03]

We are supported by the government and administration.

[14:07]

As citizens play an important and vital role in cleaning the city.

[14:11]

Not everything will be served on a platter.

[14:15]

So, we play an equal role in cleaning our city.

[14:21]

We try to make people and children aware of cleanliness.

[14:27]

We tell school children how to handle and segregate garbage.

[14:34]

We teach how to keep city clean and not litter.

[14:38]

This is the initative.

[14:40]

We also take-up beautification projects.

[14:44]

This is a lovely initiative I am happy to hear about.

[14:47]

It is a noble cause.

[14:49]

I noticed a pick-up vehicle also came when they cleaned.

[14:55]

We tie-up with the corporation.

[14:58]

They are supporting us in all these activities.

[15:03]

Great! It was lovely to meet you all.

[15:06]

I want to hear a Punjabi saying.

[15:11]

So can anyone of you try?

[15:14]

Guru Nanak Dev Ji had a saying which aligns with what you do.

[15:25]

The way you go and meet people..

[15:28]

.. the goodness of this work can't be explained.

[15:40]

You are meeting and sharing the goodness around the world.

[15:45]

This is remarkable.

[15:47]

Thank you. Nice meeting you all.

[15:52]

It is our honor and pleasure.

[15:56]

Thanks a lot.

[16:04]

I liked my stay at Heritage Villa.

[16:08]

I will stay here for 3 nights.

[16:12]

Accommodation for next 2 days is not available.

[16:15]

I will shift to a homestay from here.

[16:20]

This place is good.

[16:21]

I did subscriber meet-up here last evening.

[16:27]

Most of my day will go in seeing the videos.

[16:32]

Our last episode is work in progress.

[16:37]

I will see the video file and send back to the team.

[16:40]

I'll explore Patiala in-between when I get time.

[16:44]

We will make the main Visa2explore video tomorrow.

[16:50]

I'm here to visit Sri Raj Rajeshwari Temple, Patiala.

[16:57]

This is an ancient temple.

[16:59]

Let me go in pray and then I will tell you more about it.

[17:07]

I went in and offered prayers in the temple.

[17:10]

The idol was installed in 1845 by Maharaja Narendra Singh.

[17:18]

Generally, tourists know of Goddess Kali temple in Patiala.

[17:24]

In reality, this temple is more ancient than Goddess Kali temple.

[17:30]

Both these temples are in the same complex.

[17:32]

Right. Let me also go and offer prayers at Goddess Kali temple.

[17:47]

I offered prayers to Goddess Kali.

[17:49]

I'm with the priest Ravi Mishra in the temple premises.

[17:52]

I was asking him how old is this temple.

[17:56]

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh installed the idol here.

[18:01]

The fire light for the lamp was brought from Kali Temple in Kolkata.

[18:09]

The face of the idol was pointed towards the jungle.

[18:16]

There used to be a jungle on this side.

[18:19]

The city was developed behind the idol.

[18:28]

So, the jungle was on this side, and the city behind the idol.

[18:31]

Thank you.

[18:39]

In 1672, Guru Tegh Bahadur, the 9th Sikh Guru visited Lehal.

[18:45]

At that time, Patiala was called by the name Lehal.

[18:51]

An incurable disease had spread at that time here.

[18:59]

Villagers requested the Guru for a miracle cure for the disease.

[19:06]

Guru ji meditated here and the disease ended in this village.

[19:13]

He also ordered that if anyone suffering from a disease..

[19:18]

prays here wholeheartedly, takes holy dip on Basant Panchami..

[19:28]

that person will be cured of the disease.

[19:31]

All his mental or physical worries and pains will end with this.

[19:37]

That's why this place is called Dukhniwaran Sahib.

[19:41]

There is a pond inside the Gurudwara.

[19:44]

I walked around the pond.

[19:47]

I felt good.

[19:49]

Hymn recitations were happening inside the Gurudwara.

[19:51]

I sat inside the Gurudwara and felt a sense of calm.

[19:57]

I have come out.

[19:59]

This is the market area outside the Gurudwara.

[20:05]

You can see how the surroundings here are.

[20:07]

I will go to the homestay from here.

[20:10]

I have to spend 1-2 hours more for video editing work.

[20:16]

Let me go back to the homestay and show the accommodation.

[20:21]

We booked this stay through Airbnb in Punjabi Bagh area.

[20:26]

We have paid Rs 9850 for this stay for 2 days.

[20:33]

This tariff is for 4 people, which is reasonable.

[20:36]

The family who runs this stay also live here.

[20:39]

There is no food facility here.

[20:44]

There is provision to make tea.

[20:49]

The stay is good and the area is also peaceful.

[20:54]

I will go out for dinner.

[20:56]

I won't make a video of it.

[21:00]

It is 7:30PM now.

[21:02]

I also want to plan for tomorrow's visa2explore video.

[21:06]

I will also do the data copy work simultaneously.

[21:12]

There is nothing much for now.

[21:15]

I have set-up my laptop.

[21:18]

See you tomorrow as I will explore Patiala.

[21:23]

See you tomorrow.

[21:25]

We spent a good time in Patiala today.

[21:28]

I mostly spent the day in heritage visit.

[21:33]

I explored food and tried to understand the vibe of Patiala city.

[21:41]

I have come to Sandeeps in the market area.

[21:46]

I wanted to end this episode by tasting something sweet.

[21:49]

I'm here to have Kulfi.

[21:51]

This shop is beside Ambala Chaat shop.

[21:55]

They have 8-10 types of Kulfi.

[21:59]

Flavors like Rabri, Mango, Oreo are mentioned.

[22:02]

I will try Kesar Pista flavour.

[22:10]

Punjab Classic Kulfi, Traditional Homemade recipe.

[22:26]

I can feel the taste of purity in the kulfi.

[22:31]

This Kulfi is made from pure rabri.

[22:35]

It tastes of Kesar (saffron), as I chose that flavour.

[22:44]

I had a lot of Kulfi in childhood.

[22:48]

In those times, people liked Kulfi more than ice-cream.

[22:52]

But now, very few people make kulfi.

[22:55]

But I prefer Kulfi over ice cream.

[22:59]

I enjoy Kulfi more.

[23:02]

I am ending this episode here.

[23:07]

Next episode will be a journey from Patiala to Jalandhar.

[23:15]

Bye Bye! See you soon. Thanks for your time.
