[00:03]

practice lab you can download the lab

you like these labs please consider

[00:14]

description also please subscribe to the

[00:17]

channel for more labs like this in this

[00:21]

lab we will take a look at two methods

[00:23]

of inter VLAN routing using two small

[00:25]

networks one is known as router on a

[00:29]

stick which we already covered in the

[00:31]

icnd1 labs but we will do a little

[00:33]

review here the other method is using

[00:37]

SBI's on a multi-layer switch which is a

[00:40]

switch with routing capabilities let's

[00:43]

get started first let's configure switch

[00:47]

1 for inter VLAN routing using s vis

[00:51]

switch 1 isn't connected to a router in

[00:54]

this small network and even if it were

[00:56]

it might be preferable for a switch 1 to

[00:58]

rub between VLANs itself without having

[01:01]

to send the traffic to a router now pc1

[01:04]

& pc2 shouldn't be able to ping each

[01:06]

other at the moment let's try from PC 1

[01:12]

ping 1002 10

[01:21]

doesn't work let's go on switch one and

[01:23]

make it work an able coffee tea ok the

[01:30]

first step is to enable IP routing on

[01:32]

the switch which is done with the

[01:34]

command IP routing this enables the

[01:38]

layer 3 capabilities of this multi-layer

[01:40]

switch next we just have to configure

[01:44]

the VLANs with IP addresses interface

[01:47]

VLAN 10 I configured each PC to use the

[01:51]

dot 1 address of their subnet as a

[01:53]

default gateway

[01:54]

so for VLAN 10 IP address 1001 one

[02:02]

255.255.255.0 also SV eyes are shut down

[02:07]

by default so remember no shutdown now

[02:11]

let's configure VLAN 20 interface VLAN

[02:16]

20 IP address 1002 one 255.255.255.0 no

[02:24]

shutdown that's all there is to it

[02:27]

keep in mind I already configured switch

[02:30]

ones interfaces connected to a PC one

[02:32]

and PC two to be in VLAN 10 and VLAN 20

[02:35]

do show VLAN brief there you go

[02:40]

now let's try our ping once more from PC

[02:43]

one ping 1000 two 1000 all there is to

[02:55]

inter VLAN routing using SBI's for a

[02:59]

quick review enable IP routing on the

[03:02]

multi-layer switch create the

[03:04]

appropriate SV eyes with the interface

[03:06]

VLAN command configure IP addresses on

[03:10]

the SV eyes and enable them with no

[03:12]

shutdown next let's configure inter VLAN

[03:17]

routing in our other small network using

[03:20]

the router on a stick method by using

[03:23]

sub interfaces r2 can act as a default

[03:26]

gateway for multiple subnets using a

[03:28]

single physical interface again I

[03:32]

already configured the switch to

[03:34]

interface

[03:34]

is connected to a PC 3 and PC for to be

[03:38]

in VLAN 30 and VLAN 40 so we just have

[03:40]

to configure the connection between

[03:41]

switch 2 and R 2 let's just show that PC

[03:46]

3 and PC for can't pin each other at the

[03:48]

moment

[03:49]

upping from PC 3 to PC for ping 1004 10

[04:03]

doesn't work

[04:05]

first let's go on switch to enable golf

[04:12]

tee all we have to do here is configure

[04:15]

g0 one as a trunk interface g0 1 switch

[04:20]

port mode trunk

[04:22]

that's all now let's go to our to enable

[04:29]

golf tee let's enable the g00 interface

[04:35]

interface G 0 0 no shutdown now let's

[04:41]

create a sub interface for VLAN 30

[04:43]

interface G 0 0 30 next specify this sub

[04:49]

interface as being before VLAN 30

[04:53]

encapsulation dot1q 30 next we just add

[04:59]

the IP address IP address 1003 1 255 255

[05:05]

255 0 that's all now let's make another

[05:09]

sub interface for VLAN 40 and do the

[05:12]

same interface G 0 0.40 encapsulation

[05:18]

dot1q 40 IP address 1004 1 255.255.255.0

[05:29]

that's all there is to router on a stick

[05:31]

let's try that ping again from pc 3 ping

[05:37]

1004 1

[05:46]

okay there we go

[05:48]

in this slob we looked at two methods of

[05:50]

inter VLAN routing SV eyes and router on

[05:54]

a stick that's all for this lab thank
