Why Choose a Budget Webcam?
Budget webcams are perfect for individuals who need quality visuals for video calls, streaming, or online meetings without spending a fortune. With the rapid advancement of technology, it's possible to find good-quality webcams that deliver clear images, decent audio, and useful features—all for under $50.
The Top 5 Budget Webcams Under $50
5. Nexo N60
Price: Approximately $30-$40 (often available for lower with coupons)
Resolution: 1080p at 30 fps
Field of View: Approximately 90°
Adjustability: Excellent
The Nexo N60 is highlighted for its superior build quality. Featuring a ball hinge design, it allows for horizontal and vertical adjustments, making it user-friendly. Although the webcam offers decent video quality for conferencing, there are some drawbacks:
- Fixed focus may limit usage for close-up shots
- Noticeable fisheye effect due to the field of view
- Inconsistent white balance, causing color distortion in backgrounds
Overall, this webcam is a great value option considering its build quality and features, making it a good candidate for casual use.
4. Logitech Brio 100
Price: Around $25
Resolution: 1080p at 30 fps
Field of View: 58°
Build Quality: Moderate
The Logitech Brio 100's image quality outperforms the N60 with better lighting adaptability and less pixelation during movement. However, its narrow field of view can feel too cropped. Key features include:
- Solid colors, which provide a better overall image
- A reliable privacy shutter for user security
The downside is its build design; the lack of a secure mounting system can make positioning tricky. A decent choice if you can manage the physical instability.
3. Logitech Brio 300
Price: About $50
Resolution: 1080p at 30 fps
Field of View: 70°
Enhanced Build: Yes
Serving as an upgrade to the Brio 100, the Brio 300 offers a wider view, making video calls less claustrophobic. Notable enhancements include:
- Enhanced color performance compared to the previous model
- Better mount stability, preventing accidental tipping
Though it still uses fixed focus technology, the wider lens minimizes the distance users need to maintain from the camera, providing a comfortable setup.
2. Anker PowerConf C200
Price: Approximately $50 (look for coupons)
Resolution: Up to 1440p at 30 fps
Field of View: 95°
Special Features: Autofocus
The Anker PowerConf C200 has impressive image quality, capturing sharp visuals with minimal grain. Its features stand out with:
- The highest resolution of our contenders (though true clarity may not fully reach the touted 1440p)
- Autofocus capabilities help maintain image sharpness during movement
Despite these strengths, users may notice pixel shifting artifacts during motion, which can detract from video quality. Overall, it's a solid contender but be mindful of its slight image discrepancies.
1. Razer Kiyo
Price: Dropped from $100 to around $50
Resolution: 1080p at 30 fps; 720p at 60 fps
Field of View: 82°
Built-in Feature: Ring light
The standout of this list is the Razer Kiyo, renowned for its excellent image clarity and integrated ring light to enhance low-light conditions. Some notable features include:
- Functional autofocus for dynamic backgrounds
- Superior image sharpness compared to competitors
- Compact, stable design with good build quality
However, the device has its downsides, particularly in color accuracy, often skewing white balance. The microphone lacks quality relative to competitors, but for most webcam users, this should not be a primary concern.
Conclusion
In summary, whether you're enhancing your home office setup or just need something for casual streaming, the top five budget webcams under $50 in 2024 present excellent options:
- Razer Kiyo - Best overall with superb image quality
- Anker PowerConf C200 - Highest resolution with great features
- Logitech Brio 300 - Enhanced user experience from older models
- Logitech Brio 100 - Good image quality with build concerns
- Nexo N60 - Very good value for basic needs
With various options available, make sure to consider your specific requirements and the current sales to get the best deal possible!
these are the top five budget webcams under $50 in 2024 and I'll be showing footage from each device side by side
just like this so that you can compare the image quality starting at number five this is the nexo n60 while this has
normally been retailing for about 40 bucks I've seen this on sale for as low as 30 and even lower when you factor in
coupon codes that you can often find on the product pages so for that reason I've tagged all of these webcams and
I've added links to all of them in the description so that you can go ahead and see the current price for all of these
devices now what sets the n60 apart from these other webcams aside from its price is the build quality it has swivel
horizontally and it tilts up and down it's on a sort of ball hinge so it gets excellent adjustability even diagonally
it has the most secure monitor amount of all these and it comes with a privacy cover it even has tripod threading the
cable is not detachable usba a the only Annoying Thing about the build is that the red light is always on as for the
image quality it is usable for video conferencing but there are some shortcomings this is a 1080p 30 frames
per second webcam and it has fixed Focus so I can't specifically focus on anything that you put up close to the
camera the field of view is stated to be 110° looks more like 90 also there is a pretty strong fisheye effect you can
really see it with this light over here on the edge of the screen as for the colors skin tone at least for me it's
not bad at all but the white balance is problematic if you look at the background it's kind of got a little bit
of this greenish bluish tint and a lot of next too EP games kind of have this issue also there's a lot of pixelation
when there is motion so there's another webcam that's on this top five that also has a similar issue switching over to
the built-in microphone of the n60 for the price this is a great value option especially for the amazing build quality
number four is the Logitech Brio 100 also known as the Brio 101 depending on which color you get if you get this on
Amazon I bought mine for $25 the image quality is overall better than the n60 but it does cut a few corners this is
1080p 30 frames per second again but the field of view is extremely narrow at 58° so it's extremely cropped in and if I
was sitting a little bit closer to my desk it's just way too much now there's less pixelation with this webcam when
there's movement and also the colors are just way better than the n60 brain in lower light can be a problem as long as
you have some decent light and it actually looks pretty good the biggest weakness of the Bria 100 is the build it
comes with a nice privacy shutter but other than that it doesn't actually Mount onto to a monitor it just kind of
sits on it so it can fall off with the slightest nudge it cannot swivel and tilting it up and down risks it just
falling off there's also no tripod threading now this is the mic on the Brio 100 overall for
$25 this webcam is unmatched however the build can be very frustrating so if you're considering this do keep that in
mind at number three this is the Logitech Brio 300 which is a direct upgrade over the Brio 100 I bought mine
for exactly $50 the specifications are very similar to the Brio 100 1080p 30 frames per second however this has a
much wider 70° field of view but unfortunately it is still fixed Focus so now there is a slight Improvement when
it comes to colors but honestly just having a wider frame that's not so claustrophobic it doesn't force you to
scoot back farther away from your monitor is the main reason to get the Brio 300 if you can oh and the build the
Brio 300 comes with a non-detachable 60-in USB cable the monitor mount is way more secure than the 100 and it has a
unique privacy shutter it has up and down tilt but no swivel switching to the onboard microphone this is currently
logitech's best webcam under $50 it's even better than the Logitech C920 the only thing that is missing is that
autofocus the great thing about fixed focus is that if you're sitting at a reasonable distance even if you're
moving a little bit you're not going to fall out of focus now for number two I really want to put this at number one
but it does have one major flaw that I just could not overlook this is the anchor poweron fa c200 make sure you
look out for sales and coupons on this device because I bought mine for $50 which was including a $10 coupon that I
got it was originally 60 got it for $10 off anyway this webcam does several things differently and better than the
other webcams on this top five list first of all it records it up to 1440p 30 frames per second which is the
highest resolution of any of these webcams at a glance it easily has the best image of all of them in terms of
sharpness colors and minimal grain even the dynamic range range is really good but here's the one problem if you look
at the image for more than about 15 seconds you'll start to see that something's a bit off first of all in
OBS you can select 2560 by 1440 but this image is definitely not sharp enough to really be 1440 most likely it is 2K
which is fair enough because that's what it's actually marketed as a 2K webcam but 2K is only 80 pixels wider than
1920x 1080 so suddenly it's actually not that impressive but more importantly there are a lot of comp ression artifact
so if you look at my glasses that's where you can really see it the most it kind of seems to warp and move up and
down left and right the pixels that are representing it independent of my face and the rest of my body it's almost like
they're detached in a weird way and just movement in general looks very strange with this device because there's a lot
of Shifting of the pixels when they really shouldn't be and this is a compression technique that actually
YouTube uses and the nexo n60 actually has the same issue other than that the image looks superb for the price point
it also has fully fun function autofocus and a field of view of 95° the build is also excellent and this
is another thing that this webcam does differently than the others it has a 60-in cable like them but it has a USBC
to usba a cable that's detachable it also has a privacy shutter under the lens so you're going to use a switch
that's on top to open and close it and when you close it it actually disables the video of the webcam entirely this
has no swivel but it tilts up and down and it has tripod threading speaking of to the mic of of this webcam if the
pixel warping doesn't bother you then I definitely recommend the anchor workor power comp c200 the number one best
webcam under $50 is the Razer Kio this is a classic device that dropped in price from $100 when it launched and
that's what I actually bought it for down to $50 in its latest sale so make sure to check the links for the current
pricing so you can see what it is right now it records it up to 1080p 30 frames per second that's what I got it set to
right now it can also do 720p 60 if you want it it comes with a ring light built right onto the device which helps a
little bit in low light situations it's not really something that anyone with decent lighting should need but if you
have really poor lighting conditions you might want to consider it in terms of the image quality it is the sharpest of
all these devices including the anchor it has an 82° field of view this and the anchor are the only ones that have
functional autofocus and this one's actually pretty decent I like it a lot now you can lock the autofocus because
as you might have seen the pulsing can get to be a little bit much if you have a particularly cluttered background the
only real weakness of this device is the colors particularly the white balance now if we switched over to something
like the nexo n60 then obviously the colors look way better than that but even though the white balance is
adjustable the background always looks a little bit too Amber or a little bit too bluish green and doesn't really have
that middle ground the build was great for its time with the unique ring light and the stable monitor mount
unfortunately there's no privacy shutter so that might be a a deal breaker for some mic demonstration this is
definitely the worst microphone of these five devices but if you're actually using a webcam microphone then you might
have more pressing issues to be honest now here are all these webcams side by side first without the Kio they're all
set to their maximum resolution now like I said the anchor looks the best by default until there's a little bit of
movement then it starts to have a little bit of issues but overall it does have the best image quality and all of these
are completely possible for video conferencing now when you move on to like YouTube or twitch or something like
that where you want something to look a little bit nicer I'm going to have to add in this the Razer Kio and I swapped
out the next too n60 cuz I don't think that's really suitable for those two platforms now none of these completely
dominate the competition and both of the Bri really hold their own even though they don't have autofocus however the
Heads up!
