Why This Service is In-Demand Right Now
Home service businesses (plumbers, roofers, HVAC) lose leads constantly because they're too slow to respond. A single missed emergency call can cost hundreds in lost revenue. You can solve this by building an automated system that:
- Captures leads instantly from a landing page
- Sends immediate confirmations via email and text
- Books appointments directly on the client's calendar
- Follows up automatically without manual work
Why plumbers specifically? In Austin, a single click on "Emergency Plumber" can cost over $100. That means each lead is worth significant money, and missing one is expensive. This makes the problem you're solving very valuable. For a broader understanding of how to build a lead generation business, check out our guide on How to Create a Profitable Local Business Directory Website.
Step 1: Choose the Right Market
Use a free tool like UberSuggest to find markets where:
- Cost-per-click is high (shows valuable customers)
- Businesses charge $200-$1,000+ per job
- They need fast response times (emergency services)
Best niches: Plumbers, roofers, HVAC companies, electricians, locksmiths, pest control
Step 2: Set Up Your Agency System (Using GoHighLevel)
Create Sub-Accounts for Each Client
- One main agency account
- Separate sub-account per client with their own contacts, leads, calendar, and automations
- Use snapshots to duplicate working systems for new clients
Configure Basic Settings
- Set time zone to client's local time (critical for appointments and automated messages)
- Create a booking calendar with custom form (include address field)
- Use calendar AI to auto-configure
Step 3: Build a High-Converting Landing Page (10 Minutes)
Use HighLevel's AI Studio (beta) to generate a page instantly:
What to Tell the AI
- "Landing page for emergency plumbing in Austin"
- Goal: Book a call-out within the next hour
- Include actual customer language from AnswerThePublic (e.g., "plumber near me open now", "24-hour emergency plumber", "cost to fix burst pipe")
Key Page Elements
- Upfront pricing for 3 common jobs (burst pipe, water heater replacement, blocked drain)
- "Book Call Out" button linked to the calendar
- Questions from real search queries (proven demand)
Tip: Use visual edit mode to fine-tune text, colors, and spacing.
Step 4: Automate Follow-Up with Workflows
Trigger: When someone books an appointment
Actions (with ZERO delay):
- Send confirmation email with appointment details
- Send SMS text (after carrier registration) with instant confirmation
- Create opportunity in pipeline so plumber sees every new job automatically
Important Checks:
- Publish your workflow (draft mode won't run)
- Add a filter: only fire for the emergency calendar
- Build in an off-switch: Stop follow-up messages if someone already booked (avoid annoying repeat texts)
What to Charge Clients
| Fee Type | Amount | |----------|--------| | Setup fee | $1,500 - $3,000 | | Monthly retainer | $500 - $1,500 |
The math: If one emergency call-out is $400, catching 2 lost jobs per month more than covers the monthly fee. 10 clients at $1,000/month = $10,000/month recurring revenue.
For comparison, other service businesses like house cleaners also respond to speed of service, learn from our Beginner's Guide to Starting a Remote House Cleaning Business in 2024 to see how you could expand your offering.
Advanced Upgrades (Increase Your Value)
Once the basic system works, add:
- AI Agent: Auto-responds to new leads and answers questions
- Voice AI: Answers phone calls (no more voicemail)
- Review requests: 3 days after job completion
- Referral campaigns: Automate asking for referrals
Each upgrade increases your monthly retainer and client retention.
Why This Scales
- Build the system ONCE, then copy via snapshots
- Second client takes an afternoon; after practice, 30 minutes
- All clients managed from one login
- Focus on high-value outcomes (faster response = more revenue) instead of selling software
Next step: Pick a city + trade (e.g., "HVAC in Phoenix"), follow this setup, and start prospecting for your first paying client. If you want to start a marketing agency or you're already a freelancer and want to make more money, this is the best
service you can sell right now. [music] Let me show you what I mean. Imagine someone's pipe burst at 9:00 p.m. Water
leaking everywhere. They go online on their phone and ask for help right then and there. If the plumber they find
doesn't respond within a few minutes, [music] that person is already calling someone else. They need help. Now, home
service businesses lose leads like this all the time because they're too slow to respond or don't have a good system for
following up. That's a problem you can solve. I'm going to show you the entire setup. How to find the right market,
build a website, capture leads, and follow up automatically, and track what's working, all in one system. And
I'll show you how much you can charge a business for doing that. For this demo, we're building a system
we could sell to plumbers. Why plumbers? Because [music] the numbers make sense. We're going to use Emergency Plumber in
Austin as our example. Before building anything, I checked the market using Uber Suggest, [music] a tool you can use
for free. In Austin, a plumber can pay over $100 [music] for a single click on a search like Emergency Plumber. That's
not $100 for a customer. It's not even $100 for a lead. It's a $100 to just [music] get someone onto the website.
Businesses only pay that much for a click when a new customer can be worth a lot more. [music] So, right away, you
know two things. There's real money in this market and losing a lead is expensive. And that's useful for you as
a marketer because now you understand the value of the problem you're solving. If you know what a lead costs the
plumber, you also know what it costs them when they miss one. [music] When you're choosing your own market, look
for businesses where a new customer can be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. Plumbers, roofers, HVAC
companies, electricians, or similar [music] trades. You can actually do this research within Uber Suggest. You put in
a keyword related to any space. [music] It'll tell you the traffic volume and it'll show you how much people are
paying per [music] click. The higher amount that they're paying per click, typically, the more valuable that market
is. [music] We're going to use my partners tool, High Level. It's a all-in-one system for websites, leads,
follow-up automation, and a lot of the AI tools that I'm about to show you. [music] When you sign up as an agency,
you have one main agency account. And inside that account, [music] you can create separate sub accounts for each of
your clients. Think of each sub account as a client's own private workspace. So, if you have a plumbing company as a
client, they have their own contacts, leads, calendar, phone numbers, websites, and automations. Everything
for their business stays inside their account. Then, I sign up another plumber. they get their own separate
account. That's what makes this useful. If you're building an agency, you don't need a different piece of software for
every client. You can manage all of them in one place. And here's [music] where it really gets powerful. Once you build
a system that works, like the plumbing system we're building in this video, you can save that setup as what's called a
snapshot. That means instead of rebuilding the website, the forms, the follow-up, the workflows, calendars, and
automations, every single time you sign up a new plumber or HVAC business or roofer or whatever business you're
trying to target, [music] you can copy the system into their account and customize it for their business. So, you
build the foundation once, then use it again and [music] again. And the good news is you don't even have to build all
of this from scratch. I already created a snapshot with the setup ready to go. After this video, you can use the link
in the description, sign up, [music] and load it onto your own account. We've already done a lot of the setup for you.
You can also white label HighLe, which means you can put your own brand on the platform and include the software as
part of whatever you're selling to the client. For this demo, I've already created a plumbing account and loaded it
up in the basic setup. Next, there's one small thing I always check before we start building the time zone. This
business is in Austin, so I want to make sure the account is set up to Austin's local time. That matters because your
appointments, automated texts, follow-ups, and scheduled messages all depend on it. It [music] takes 10
seconds to check, and it saves you a lot of headaches later. And one more thing, while you're in the settings, because
you know you're going to need it in a minute, [music] the calendar. This will let customers book an appointment
directly on your client's calendar. This only takes you a few minutes to set up, but it's important. You can use your
calendar AI that you see here and just say, "Hey, I'm a plumber and I need a way for people to book appointments with
me and or my team." And then the calendar is created and you're going to save it. Now, it'll create with the
default form where you have a name and phone number. But we also want an address. So, you need to create a custom
form. So, you're going to go back to the main page and then you're going to go to sites forms and then you're going to go
create a new form. Then just write plumber. You can just choose the first one and you can customize this for any
of your clients. Then you go back to the calendar page and then you go to the settings and then you go to edit the
calendar advanced settings forms and configurations. Then you're going to select the form and you're going to
select the plumber form that we just made. So that way when someone clicks the booking button on the website we're
about to build, they need an actual calendar to book into. The calendar is what connects the website to the
plumber's availability and turns that visitor into an actual appointment. Once that's set up, we can build the page
around it. So now the next step is building the website. This is the fun part because we get to use Highle's new
AI page builder, but it's actually not a builder per se. It's called their AI studio. It's like you're in chat GBT and
telling it to build a website. But just as a quick note, it's in beta. So if it isn't in your sidebar, it's under
settings and then go to labs and you can switch it on there and it appears. So now here's what I type. A landing page
for an emergency plumbing company in Austin, Texas. The person landing on it has a leak right now. The goal is to get
them to book a call out in the next hour. And then I added a bit more context to it because I want these
prospective customers for my plumbing client to really resonate with what they see when they go to their site. And I
don't want to just guess what [music] someone with a plumbing emergency is thinking. I want to know what they're
actually searching for. So, I use a tool called Answ. You can type in something like emergency plumber and it'll show
you the questions and phrases people are searching around that topic. Things like plumber near me open now, 24-hour
emergency plumber, how much does it cost to fix a burst pipe? Why is my water heater leaking? Do plumbers charge a
callout fee? That's useful because this is the language your customers are already using. So instead of just asking
the AI, make me a plumbing website, I'll give it the situation, the goal of the page, and some of the actual language
people are searching for. Because the AI is only ever as good as what you hand it. Everyone else types, "Make me a
plumbing website and gets a plumbing website." This was fed what actually customers type in really late at night
when they're panicking from all the water on the floor. And then a few minutes later, this is what you get
back. All you have to do is just type in exactly what you want. I can add a section with upfront price ranges for
the three most common emergency jobs. Birth pipe repair, water heater replacement, block drain, so people know
exactly what it costs before they call. And if you rather point [music] and click, there's a visual edit mode that
drops you straight into a live page. Text, colors, spacing, all editable right where you're looking at. So, as
you look through the site, you can see opportunities to drop in the highest volume questions from Answer the Public
and what people see as they skim the site because that's proven demand rather than a guess. Publishing is up in the
corner. It asks for a URL, then a name, description, an icon, and it goes live. There's a custom domain option there,
too, so your clients can have their own domain. And there it is on the open internet, a real landing page in about
10 minutes or less. A web designer would have charged you three grand [music] for that. and it would have taken three or
four weeks. Next, we want to make sure the button for a book, a call out button, is connected to your client's
calendar. So, you can tell the AI in chat to do that for you. Link the book call out buttons to the emergency
callout calendar. And now watch, we go to the main site. There it is. Realtime slots, real availability. That's the
difference between a page that looks finished and a page that works. So, let me book one myself right now as a
customer would. slot, name, phone, and then I just hit confirm. And if you go to the back end, you can see that
someone's booked something with us. Sweet. Okay, next step is where it gets really cool. It's not just them booking
it on their own calendar. We need that to be connected to a couple different things. So, we're going to set up the
automation inside Highle. These are called workflows. A workflow is basically a set of instructions that
say, "When this happens, automatically do this next." So, instead of the plumber having to see a new appointment,
remember to send a text, follow up, and notify someone, and they do all that manually, we're going to have the system
do it all automatically. You can build one from scratch. And [music] the beauty of this is that you can essentially just
build this once and then slightly customize it and tweak it for each plumber or clients that you [music] work
with in the future. But I want to show you exactly how it works so you understand what you're giving the
client. The first thing, every workflow needs a trigger. That's simply what has to happen for this automation to start.
For us, it's when a customer books appointment. So the second somebody books emergency call out, this workflow
fires. Then I'm going to add a filter and tell high level that I only want this to happen when somebody books our
emergency callout calendar. Now we've told the [music] system exactly when to start. Next, we're going to tell it what
to do. First section, send a email. Subject line is we can get someone out today. And then the body, hi, first
name, it's Dave from Austin's Emergency Plumbing. we've got you down for. And that pulls the time slot right out of
the bookie. That reply lands in their inbox while they're still standing in the kitchen looking at the water. And
one thing that I want to point out, there's no wait step. Nothing between the [music] trigger and the message.
Zero delay. But just to note in the future, if you want there to be a delay, like a couple minutes or days, maybe you
want to send them a message 3 days after the booking that tells them to write a review on your business on Google, you
can automate that step, too. So you could easily see this as a complete system end to end. That's the thing
you're selling. Most plumbers take days to get back to their customers. [music] But you're selling them a system where
everything happens instantly and automatically. And whatever we did with emails, you can also do the same thing
with text messages. It's right there in the same list. Send SMS, one action down. Honestly, for plumbing, make sure
you add text because that's what people will see instantly on their phones. But sending text in the US means going
through carrier registration first, which requires a separate step. So, I'm not going to talk about this on this
video, but once you sign up for a high level, you'll have access to a full tutorial on how to do that. Their
customer support is top tier, but either way, the logic is identical. Same trigger, same merge fields, no wait
step. Once your number is registered, you drop it in next to the email and you're done. Now, there's one more step
that's really important. When somebody books, [music] High Leo automatically creates them as a contact. So, now their
name and information are saved inside the system. But we don't want that potential job to just sit in a CRM. We
also want it to show up in the client sales pipeline, which you'll see right here. That way, the plumber can easily
see every new opportunity and keep track of what's happening next. Because not every lead is going to turn into a job.
Some might even change their mind. They may need a follow-up. Or after the job is completed, you may want to ask them
for a review or referral. [music] And tracking all of this becomes really valuable over time. you can start seeing
things like how [music] many leads coming in, how many are actually becoming customers, where leads are
falling off, and where there may be opportunities to improve the business. Instead of just setting up some
automations and walking away, you can use this information to help your clients make better decisions about how
to grow their business. And that gives you a reason to continue working with them and potentially create recurring
revenue. So, to set this up, we're going to add a create opportunity action. This automatically takes every new booking
and puts it into a new lead stage of the plumber's pipeline. Now, instead of the customer information just sitting
somewhere inside the CRM, the plumber can open the pipeline and immediately see here are all the new jobs we need to
follow up with. And that's how we make sure that nothing slips through the crack. And there's one last thing that
you absolutely need to check. Up here, you'll see draft and publish. You could build this entire workflow perfectly,
but if it's still sitting in draft, none of it's actually running. So once you're finished, publish the workflow. I'm
saying this twice because it's probably one of the easiest things to forget. Make sure the workflow is published. A
lot of what I just showed you is a manual version of the system, but this is also where the opportunity gets
bigger. As you start selling this to plumbers, HVAC companies, roofers, or whoever your clients are, you can start
adding more AI into the system to help them respond faster, follow up better, and ultimately book more jobs. For
example, you can have a AI agent respond to a new lead almost instantly, answer the questions, and help move them toward
an appointment. You can use voice AI to answer the phone. So, instead of somebody calling and getting a
voicemail, they can immediately have a conversation and get help. And think about what that means for your client.
You're not just giving them a website or some marketing. You're helping them build a system that can respond to
customers [music] faster, capture more opportunities, and help them grow their business. The better you get at adding
these pieces, the more valuable what you're selling becomes. I put together a separate free course that goes deeper
into all of this. AI studio, AI agents, voice AI, and the other tools you can add to make this system even more
powerful. When you sign up for High Level through the first [music] link in the description, you'll get access to
that course, too. There's still a couple more things I want to show you in this video first. So, let's keep going. Now,
everything I just walked you through is important for you to understand because you're the person the client is paying
to know how all of this works. But here's the good news. You don't have to build this from scratch for every single
[music] client. Remember what I showed you at the beginning when we created the sub account, the snapshot? A snapshot is
basically entire pre-built system. Your forms, your pipelines, your workflows, tags, automations, all of it. So, when
you bring on a new client, you create their account. And within seconds, everything I just spent the last few
minutes showing you is already inside their account. So, your first client might take you a while to set up, but
your second client can take an afternoon. And by the time you've done this a bunch of times, you may be able
to get a new client launch in around 30 minutes. That's where this starts becoming really scalable. There is one
[music] important thing that I want you to check whenever you load a snapshot, though. If you have automated follow-up
messages going out, make sure the workflow is always checking whether the person has already booked. And if they
have, the follow-up sequence should stop. Because if someone already scheduled a plumber and [music] you keep
texting them saying, "Hey, do you still need a book?" That goes from helpful follow-up to annoying really fast. So,
always build in that off switch follow-up until they take the [music] action you want. And once they do, stop.
Now, remember that booking that I made a few minutes ago? Here's a receipt. conversations booked at this second
confirmation went out on this one automatically. And that's the whole thread in one place. Every message that
the customer will ever send this business and every reply going back on one screen. Contacts, there's the lead
with everything they typed. Opportunities, there's a job sitting in the new lead. Panicking homeowner books
and it's confirmed and on the board ready to service and fulfill. That's not a website. [music] That's an entire
online business. So, what do you charge for this? First thing, don't sell the software. No plumber wants to buy
software. [music] You sell the outcome. You can literally show your prospect how every lead they gets a reply in under 60
seconds and prove it to them. And with home services, you can do the math right there in the room. If one emergency call
out is $400, and this catches two jobs a month that they otherwise had a loss, it pays for itself many times over. That
conversation closes itself. What I see that works as a setup fee is somewhere between $1,500 and $3,000 to build it.
then $500 a month to $1,500 a month to run it, watch it, and improve it. 10 clients at $1,000 a month on average is
a $10,000 a month agency. And every one of those clients is just a sub account under one login under your own breath.
And [music] you can add as many accounts as you can handle. That's why this scales and hourly consulting never does.
So here's what [music] to do next. The free course is a first link in the description. Seven lessons, AI Studio,
the AI agent that handles your messages, the voice AI that answers your phone. It's the deeper version of everything I
just showed you. You'll get [music] the free course and a free 30-day trial to try it all out. Go into it now and tell
me in the comments what niche you're going to go after, city and [music] trade. Be specific, because in the next
video, I'm taking this exact setup and showing you how to get the first client who pays for it. I'll see you there.
Home service businesses lose significant revenue from missed or slow responses to emergency calls—each missed plumbing lead can cost $100+ in Austin. By building an automated system that instantly captures leads, sends confirmations, and books appointments, you solve a high-stakes problem that justifies premium pricing ($500–$1,500/month retainer).
Use GoHighLevel to create a main agency account with separate sub-accounts per client. Configure local time zones, a booking calendar with custom forms, and build a high-converting landing page using AI Studio. Automate follow-up workflows that trigger confirmation emails, SMS texts, and pipeline opportunities immediately upon booking, ensuring no lead falls through the cracks.
Use HighLevel's AI Studio to generate a page targeting specific queries like 'emergency plumber near me open now' or 'cost to fix burst pipe.' Include upfront pricing for common jobs (e.g., burst pipe repair, water heater replacement), a 'Book Call Out' button linked to your calendar, and actual customer language from tools like AnswerThePublic to match search intent.
Charge a setup fee of $1,500–$3,000 and a monthly retainer of $500–$1,500. Justify the cost by showing that capturing just 2 lost emergency jobs (each worth $400+) per month more than covers the fee, delivering a clear ROI. With 10 clients at $1,000/month, you can achieve $10,000/month in recurring revenue.
Build the system once and duplicate it using GoHighLevel 'snapshots' for new clients. After initial setup, onboarding a second client takes an afternoon, and with practice, just 30 minutes. Manage all clients from one login and focus on high-value outcomes (faster response = more revenue) instead of customizing each system from scratch.
Add an AI agent to auto-respond to new leads, voice AI to answer phone calls (eliminating voicemail), review request automations 3 days after job completion, and referral campaigns that automatically ask satisfied customers for referrals. Each upgrade increases perceived value and justifies higher retainer fees.
Use free tools like UberSuggest to identify markets with high cost-per-click (indicating valuable customers), businesses charging $200–$1,000+ per job, and a need for fast response times (emergency services). Top niches include roofers, HVAC companies, electricians, locksmiths, and pest control—all with similar high-stakes, time-sensitive needs.
