3 Reminders to Break Free From Isolation
This powerful message addresses the spiritual danger of isolation and provides biblical strategies for overcoming loneliness. The speaker emphasizes that isolation is a tool the enemy uses to lead believers into deception and temptation.
1. Isolation Opens the Door to Temptation
- The David example: 2 Samuel 11:2 shows David was in a place he shouldn't have been (home instead of at war), and his isolation led to the temptation with Bathsheba.
- Proverbs 18:1 warns: "He who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound judgment."
- Key insight: When alone, your flesh wants to lead and guide you, often against your convictions.
- Practical warning: Boredom can lead to bondage, don't just scroll social media or entertain ungodly thoughts. For more on resisting deceptive thoughts, explore Resisting Religious Chains of Oppression: A Powerful Message of Liberation.
- Solution: Guard yourself by seeking the Lord and staying in community.
2. Isolation Breaks in the Presence of Community
- The tag-team analogy: Like a wrestler refusing to tag in his partner, pride often prevents us from asking for help.
- Ecclesiastes 4:9: "Two people are better off than one. If one person falls, the other could reach out and help."
- Spiritual principle: It's easier for the enemy to attack an isolated person than someone surrounded by community.
- Warning against pride: "When you operate in pride, you will not operate in peace."
- Action steps:
- Get into church and Bible study
- Connect with godly friends, learn how in How to Make Friends and Build Genuine Connections Easily.
- Allow others to pray and intercede for you
- Be vulnerable and open to help
3. Isolation Can Be an Invitation to Seek God's Presence
- Jesus' example: He often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer, not to isolate from everyone, but to connect with the Father.
- Transformation perspective: Instead of using isolation to entertain the enemy's lies, use it to seek God's presence. For a deeper dive on letting go of control and trusting God, read How to Embrace God’s Plans and Transform Your Life in the New Year.
- The promise: When you seek God, He refreshes, restores, and revitalizes you with His peace and wisdom.
- Key warning: "An idle mind is the enemy's playground", don't let loneliness lead you to partner with the enemy's lies. Practice detachment with Mastering Detachment: Five Steps to Let Go and Trust God's Plan.
Closing Prayer & Encouragement
The speaker concludes with a prayer breaking the spirit of loneliness and declaring God's joy, strength, and peace over listeners. You know what's the one place where the enemy wants you to be at when you're going through a hard season, especially
in the season of loneliness? The enemy wants you to isolate yourselves from everyone else. Why [music] is that? It's
because isolation is the pathway to deception. How many times have we seen people become deceived all because they
[music] have become isolated? That's why I want to encourage you today by this message called breaking [music] free
from isolation. And if you just stay with me in these next 15 to 20 minutes, I know that this word is going to help
you and it is going to encourage you. So today I want to give you three reminders to help you to break free from
isolation. The first one is this is that isolation opens the door to temptation. Isn't that true? Haven't you noticed
that when you're in a season of isolation, when you're in a season of loneliness, that the enemy will often
tempt you to do something ungodly? He will start telling you to watch certain things that you shouldn't be watching or
he'll have you catering to your desires, catering to your flesh, and you find yourself wanting to do all of these
things because you are in an isolated place listening to the enemy. And to be honest with you, that's what happened
with David. Let me read this. It says in 2 Samuel 11:2, it says, "Late one afternoon after his midday rest, David
got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of
unusual beauty. You see, first off, David was never even supposed to be at home hanging out, chilling. He was
supposed to be at war. It was war season. But David isolated himself and he put himself in a season of rest. And
when he was isolated, that's when the temptation started to come in. And I know that that could happen so easily
for you and I. When we're all by oursel, when we're all alone, or how many of you guys had it when you're bored, when
you're bored and you have nothing to do, what ends up happening? you end up finding yourself, you know, doing things
that you might not necessarily do when you're actually in a place where God has called you to be. And that's the issue
with David. David was all alone by himself and then he sees a woman bathing and what happens? His desires start to
kick in and he finds himself wanting to go into know to get to know this girl Basheba. Now, I want to encourage you
today that when you're in isolated place, that's when the temptation gets higher. Because isolation always opens
the door to temptation. And when you're in this place all by yourself, the enemy starts feeding you these lies and he
starts telling you, "Oh, you should go watch a little bit of those adult films." Why? Because it's going to
comfort you. Or, "Hey, nobody cares about you. You know, nobody wants to, you know, hang out with you." So let's
let's get yourself all alone by yourself. And you start finding yourself compromising and doing things that you
wouldn't do. And where does this take place? Oftent times take place in isolation. And isolation wants to break
your conviction. That's why I think it's so imperative that you and I are mindful when we're all by ourselves. Because
when we're all alone, it is so easy for us to partner with our desires. You know, it's interesting. I was reading
the book of Proverbs and I stumbled upon this verse and I want to read this to you. It says in Proverbs 18:1, "He who
isolates himself pursues selfish desires. He rebels against all sound judgment." It says that when you isolate
yourself, you start to pursue selfish desires. See, when you're all by yourself, your flesh wants to lead you.
When you're all by yourself, your flesh wants to guide you. And your flesh want you to do things that are against your
convictions. That's why I truly believe that we have to be mindful in this season of isolation, in this season of
loneliness, because in this season, it is so easily when you're lonely to drop your guard. We drop our guard because we
want to be comforted. We drop our guard because we don't want to be in this place because we don't like, you know,
to be alone. So what ends up happening is is that we get the temptation of compromising. And that's where we have
to be mindful to guard oursel in a season of loneliness and isolation because it's very easy for you to
compromise when you are lonely. It's very easy for you to settle and to do things when you are lonely because you
don't like to be alone. I want to encourage you today that when you're in this season, guard yourself. Take some
time with the Lord. Don't be all alone. I love what my friend Pastor Vlad says. He says, "Boredom leads to bondage."
When you're all bored doing nothing, don't just sit there and scroll on social media. Instead, seek the Lord.
Get into community. Why? Because isolation is the open door to temptation. This is how David fell.
Because he was all alone, all by himself with his thoughts. And your thoughts, you guys, not all of them are godly. And
those thoughts want to entertain you. And those thoughts want to want literally want you to partner up with
them. So I want to tell you if we want to break free from isolation then we literally need to close the door to
these temptations and we need to seek Jesus. The second thing I would encourage you to do if we want to break
free from the spirit of isolation is that number two says isolation breaks in the presence of community. It's so
interesting because I was um watching this wrestling clip and I was seeing that this guy, right, he was fighting
this this wrestler and he was getting beat up on and it was a tag team match and there was a guy, his partner
literally saying, "Tag me in, tag me in. Tag me in." But what does the wrestler do? He's like, "Nah, bro. I got it. I
don't need your help." So anyways, long story short, he ends up, you know, fighting this guy in this wrestling
match and then he gets pinned and then the referee goes one, two, three, and the guy gets knocked out. And the guy on
the side, his partner's like, "Dude, why didn't you tag me in?" When I saw that, I thought, "How many of us are just like
that wrestler?" We have people on the side of us, but our pride won't allow us to tag them in.
Our pride says, "I could handle the season of loneliness. I could handle the season of isolation. I could handle the
season all by myself. I don't need anyone." But that is a lie. We are better together. We are stronger
together. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9, it says, "Two people are better off than one. If one person falls, the other
could reach out and help." There is people in your life right now who want to help you in this season, who want to
strengthen you, who want to comfort you. But what happens is is that our flesh says, "I'm good. I can handle this
season on my own." And I want to tell you that that is a lie because we need each other. The scripture also reminds
us is that iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. You don't have to do this life all alone, all by
yourself. And the moment that you start doing life all alone, all by yourself, you know what happens? You end up
setting yourself back so much further. Haven't you seen that in people's lives? I know I've seen that in my own life.
When I feel like I can handle something where I know I need help in and I don't ask for that help, it just hinders me
and it delays me. Because the enemy guys, he wants us to be focused on our pride and he doesn't want us to invite
people along in our journey. But we have to remind ourselves that God has placed ordained people in our life to help us
in this journey. We're not called to be all alone. We're not called to be all by ourselves. We're not called to do this
life by ourselves. We are called to have community. And I believe that when you bring somebody along in your journey, it
will help you a whole lot easier. And the issue is is that going back to it, it's the spirit of pride. But here's
what I know. When you operate in pride, you will not operate in peace. You need people's help. But the only way that
people could help you is if that you're vulnerable and you're open for their help. like that wrestler, if he would
have just said, "Dude, let me tag you in, he could have been able to defeat his opponent." But too often, our pride,
our ego says, "I don't need anybody's help. I can do this all by myself." But I want to encourage you today, do not
allow the enemy to take out ungodly people in your life and make you think that you can do this alone. He actually
wants you to do it alone. Why? Because it's easier. It's easier to attack an isolated person than it is somebody who
has community around them. But notice, even in the animal kingdom, the easiest way to go and attack somebody is not
when they're in a a herd of people. It's when they're all alone. The enemy wants you to attack you all alone. So you
don't have somebody on your side where you don't have somebody that's praying for you where you don't have somebody
that's interceding for you where you don't have somebody that's checking up on you. No, no, no. He wants you to do
it all alone all by yourself cuz he knows if I can get you alone, it is easier to tempt you. It is easier to
entertain you and then eventually he will destroy you. That's why I want to encourage you today. Hang out with some
godly friends. Get into church. Get into Bible study. Get into community because we do life better together. Stop
allowing your mind saying that, "Oh no, I just want to be all alone and all by myself because I'm just in this dark
season." Look, your season doesn't need to be dark. If you're bringing the light into your situation, if you're bringing
God into your situation and people of light, people who are godly, they're going to help you out in that situation
and in that season. So today if you want to break free from isolation then it all breaks in the presence of community my
friend we are better together and the third thing I want to remind you is this is that isolation is an invitation to
seek God's presence you know one thing I love about Jesus is that the Bible teaches us that he often withdrew to the
wilderness for prayer you know there were so many times where the crowds would want the best of him right The
crowds would want Jesus to do miracles, to pray for them. But what I love what Jesus did is that when he withdrew from
the crowd, he didn't withdraw from everybody. He just withdrew from people, but he connected with Jesus. I want to
tell you in this moment when you are alone and all by yourself, let isolation be an invitation to God's presence. When
you're all alone by yourself, keep seeking the presence of Jesus. Because when you start connecting with God, God
starts to refresh you. He starts to restore you. He starts to revitalize you and he starts to help you out in these
areas in your life. You know, many times I have friends tell me like, "Rich, I'm just bored." Or, "Man, Rich, I'm in this
lonely season. I don't know what to do." Here's what I'll tell you to do. Keep seeking God. Keep seeking his presence
because the more you seek God's presence, God starts to fill you with his peace and he starts filling you with
your wisdom, then you find yourself not partnering with the enemy's lies and you start walking in God's truth. You see,
some of you here today are not walking in God's truth because you walked away from God's word. You don't spend time in
his presence. You spend time on social media. You don't spend time hanging out with Jesus. You spend time entertaining
the thoughts and the lies of the enemy. This is why loneliness has gotten the best of you. This is why the season of
isolation is causing you to want to fall for temptation. But I want to encourage you, my friend. If you seek Jesus and
you seek his presence, then he's going to fill you with his word and with his truth. But how does this all happen? It
happens when we withdraw from people, the crowd, and those thoughts and we start to connect with God. So today, if
you're feeling isolated, if you're feeling alone, and if you're feeling by yourself, Jesus is there for you. The
Bible says that God would never leave us for or forsake us. The Bible says that he is closer to us than any
[clears throat] brother. The Lord wants to hang out with you. He wants to encourage you. He wants to inspire you.
He wants to strengthen you. But so today, if that's you and you're dealing with loneliness, I want to encourage you
to seek him and seek community. Don't do life all by yourself and don't don't be by yourself idol minded. Why? Because
the old saying goes, idol mind is the enemy's playground. The enemy wants you to be alone with your thoughts, not
hanging alone by yourself with Jesus. Because if he can get you isolated like Proverbs 18:1 says, then eventually you
will follow the desires of your flesh and not the spirit of God. So today, I hope this word helped you. And if you
need encouragement or if you feel lonely, email us at hell lovewaysministries.com
or go on social media, hit myself up at Richard Delura or Britney Delura on Instagram or Facebook. We want to help
you. We want to help you in this battle because you're not called to do life alone. You're called to do life with
community. So before I end, I want to pray for every single one of us right now. Father, I thank you for every
single listener, God. And God, right now, I break the spirit of loneliness, God. They might be alone, but God, I
pray in the name of Jesus that they won't feel lonely. I pray God that the spirit of joy, that the spirit of
strength, that the spirit of peace would surround and govern their mind. God, even in this season, God, I thank you,
Jesus, right now for the blood of Jesus that covers them. I pray that you would anoint them and you would give them
supernatural grace in this season, God. God, I thank you for every single listener as we break free from
isolation, God, and we fight against loneliness, God, and we understand, God, that we don't have to do life alone
because we have great community together, Lord. So, God, I thank you for today and I pray a blessing with this
community in Jesus' name. Well, guys, I hope this video blessed you and if you did, could you comment it, like it? I
also want to remind you that my devotionals are out. Spirit-ledd faith, spiritledd leader, spiritled single,
spiritled marriage. Why don't you fill yourself up in God's word? Why don't you go and get a devotional? Read those
pages because what is it going to do? It's going to help you and comfort you and give you wisdom in your
The Bible warns that isolation can open the door to temptation and deception. Proverbs 18:1 states that those who isolate themselves pursue selfish desires and rebel against sound judgment. The speaker uses King David’s fall into sin with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11) as an example: his isolation from battle made him vulnerable to temptation. Isolation allows your flesh and the enemy to lead you away from God’s will.
Seeking community provides spiritual protection and support. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us that two are better than one because they can help each other when they fall. The speaker uses a tag-team wrestling analogy—pride keeps you from ‘tagging in’ a partner for help, but vulnerability with godly friends, church attendance, and Bible study allows others to pray and intercede for you. Community makes it harder for the enemy to attack an isolated believer.
Healthy alone time is intentional time with God, like Jesus withdrawing to pray (Mark 1:35). Sinful isolation cuts you off from God’s people and His voice, leading to deception and selfishness. The speaker warns that an idle mind is the enemy’s playground—if you use alone time to entertain lies or scroll social media, it can lead to bondage. Instead, use solitude to seek God’s presence and be refreshed by His peace.
Start by actively joining a church and a Bible study to build connections with godly friends. Be willing to be vulnerable and ask for help instead of operating in pride. Guard your mind by seeking the Lord when you feel bored or alone, rather than entertaining ungodly thoughts or scrolling social media. You can also use resources like the mentioned devotionals (Spirit-Led Faith, Spirit-Led Single, etc.) for continued spiritual growth.
When you feel lonely, intentionally redirect your focus to God’s presence instead of dwelling on negative thoughts. The speaker emphasizes that Jesus modeled this by withdrawing to pray and connect with the Father. Use that time to pray, meditate on Scripture, and ask God to refresh and restore you. When you seek Him, He replaces loneliness with His joy, peace, and wisdom—transforming isolation into a holy encounter.
Pride often prevents us from asking for help or admitting we’re struggling, leading to deeper isolation. The speaker states, “When you operate in pride, you will not operate in peace.” Pride makes you want to handle everything alone, rejecting the support of community. Breaking free requires humility—choosing to ‘tag in’ a brother or sister in Christ for prayer and accountability, even when it feels uncomfortable.
Yes, the speaker identifies isolation as a tool the enemy uses to lead believers into deception and temptation. When you are alone, the enemy can more easily attack you with lies, discouragement, or sinful desires. Spiritual warfare against loneliness involves actively resisting these attacks by staying connected to God’s people and His Word. The closing prayer in the message specifically breaks the “spirit of loneliness” and declares God’s strength and peace over you.
