this is the C5 Super Galaxy one of the largest and mightiest transports in the world it can carry two M1 ABS tanks six helicopters eight standard school buses and over 280,000 lb of cargo which is the same weight as 23 adult African elephants it can take off and land on relatively short runways not only on a concrete Runway but also on on a grass Runway furthermore its aerial refueling capability grants it unlimited operational range allowing it to Traverse the globe without [Music] pause the Lockheed C5 Galaxy is a large military transport aircraft designed and built by locked in the late 1960s it has been in service for up to 50 years the plane stretches nearly a football field long and is higher than a six-story building it weighs 380,000 lb when empty and 840,000 lb when fully loaded with cargo and fuel let's take a quick look at the aircraft the fuselage accommodates two decks a lower deck housing a cavernous cargo hold and an upper deck reserved for a auxiliary functions within the cargo hold two foldable stairs provide access to the upper deck right at the front is the cockpit housing a flight crew of six behind it there are two bunk rooms enabling the crew to rest on Long hul missions further back is the seat for the relief crew of seven along with room for eight additional passengers additionally there is a lavatory and a galley area in the back behind the wings there is a troop compartment this area contains 75 additional seats that face backward there are two additional lavatories back here as well as another Galley to prepare food during long flights behind the passenger cabin is an extruding section with a lot of empty space called a aoft at the end of it there is a ladder to enter the service Corridor on top of the TAA tail this is only used for [Music] maintenance here is how the cargo loading process is done first the front cargo door opens and the loading ramp [Music] extends then the main landing gear contracts lowering the fusel the front landing gear is partially retracted and the plane in a way lies down on its belly afterward the rear cargo door extends the ramp outward from the aircraft creating a platform for cargo to be moved into or out of the aircraft's cargo hold these two large scale entrances allow for drive-through loading meaning you can load Cargo in the front at the same time you're loading or offloading Cargo in the back the C5 Galaxy is powered by four General Electric tf39 turbofan engines each engine is capable of producing approximately 41,000 lb of thrust allowing the C5 Galaxy to achieve impressive performance despite its substantial size and weight it has a cruising speed of approximately 593 M or 952 kmph for 1 minute of flying with four engines on the C5 Galaxy the fuel consumption would be approximately 34 L per minute or 80 Gall so it needs a lot of fuel inside the wings 12 integrated fuel tanks hold the fuel with a total capacity of 193,00 L or more than 150 tons the C5 can travel almost 9,000 km without refueling but sometimes even that's not far enough to meet strategic range the C5 is equipped with an aerial refueling system that's a midair fueling station that enables almost unlimited range the refueling is done at over 300 M or 480 kmph heading underneath there are four sets of main landing gear called Bogies each with six tires as well as four-wheel nose landing gear that controls the [Music] steering that makes a total of 28 tires the pair of rear legs can rotate which reduces the turning radius of the aircraft in the limited space of the Airfield when they retract after takeoff the Bogies first turn 90° and then go into their niches like Pockets closed by a sliding door the aircraft's Innovative design featuring multiple decks spacious cargo holds and advanced Wing mechanization ensures it efficient operations even under the most demanding conditions the incorporation of cuttingedge Technologies such as turbofan engines and aerial refueling capability further extends its reach enabling it to Traverse vast distances without pause the C5 Galaxy remains an indispensable asset in the Arsenal of military forces worldwide exemplifying the spirit of innovation and and excellence in aviation if you enjoyed this video hit that subscribe button and the Bell so you're notified when I make a new video for more updates and suggestions check out learn from the Bas social media thank you for watching this video I hope you learned a lot and I will see you next time
