The Gospel of Luke, King James Version, 1:1. For  as much as many have taken in hand to set forth in

[00:08]

order a declaration of those things which are most  surely believed among us. Verse two, even as they

[00:13]

delivered them unto us, which from the beginning  were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word.

[00:20]

Verse three, it seemed good to me also, having had  perfect understanding of all things from the very

[00:26]

first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent  Theophilos, verse 4, that thou mightest know the

[00:32]

certainty of those things wherein thou hast been  instructed. Verse 5. There was in the days of

[00:39]

Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named  Zachcharias, of the course of Aia, and his wife

[00:46]

was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was  Elizabeth. Verse 6, and they were both righteous

[00:52]

before God, walking in all the commandments  and ordinances of the Lord, blameless. Verse 7,

[00:58]

and they had no child because that Elizabeth  was barren. They both were now wellstricken in

[01:04]

years. Verse 8. And it came to pass that while  he executed the priest's office before God in

[01:11]

the order of his course. Verse 9, according to the  custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn

[01:18]

incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.  Verses 10. And the whole multitude of the people

[01:25]

were praying without at the time of incense. Verse  11. And there appeared unto him an angel of the

[01:32]

Lord standing on the right side of the altar of  incense. Verse 12. And when Zachcharias saw him,

[01:39]

he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. Verse 13.  But the angel said unto him, "Fear not, Zacharias,

[01:48]

for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth  shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his

[01:53]

name John." Verse 14. and thou shalt have joy  and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his

[02:00]

birth. Verse 15, for he shall be great in the  sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine

[02:06]

nor strong drink, and he shall be filled with the  Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Verse 16,

[02:14]

and many of the children of Israel shall he turn  to the Lord their God. Verse 17. And he shall go

[02:20]

before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to  turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,

[02:25]

and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just,  to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

[02:32]

Verse 18. And Zachchariah said unto the angel,  "Whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man,

[02:40]

and my wife wellstricken in years." Verse  19. And the angel answering said unto him,

[02:46]

I am Gabriel that stand in the presence of God,  and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee

[02:53]

these glad tidings. Verse 20. And behold, thou  shalt be dumb and not able to speak until the day

[03:01]

that these things shall be performed, because thou  believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled

[03:06]

in their season. Verse 21. And the people waited  for Zachcharias and marveled that he terried so

[03:13]

long in the temple. Verse 22. And when he came  out, he could not speak unto them. And they

[03:21]

perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple.  For he beckoned unto them and remained speechless.

[03:27]

Verse 23. And it came to pass that as soon as  the days of his ministration were accomplished,

[03:32]

he departed to his own house. Verse 24. And  after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived,

[03:39]

and hid herself 5 months, saying, Verse 25, thus  hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein

[03:46]

he looked on me to take away my reproach among  men. Verse 26, and in the sixth month the angel

[03:53]

Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee  named Nazareth. Verse 27, to a virgin espoused to

[04:01]

a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David.  And the virgin's name was Mary. Verse 28. And the

[04:09]

angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that  art highly favored, the Lord is with thee. Blessed

[04:16]

art thou among women. Verses 29. And when she saw  him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in

[04:24]

her mind what manner of salutation this should be.  Verses 30. And the angel said unto her, "Fear not,

[04:31]

Mary, for thou hast found favor with God." Verse  31, "And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb,

[04:39]

and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name  Jesus." Verse 32, "He shall be great, and shall

[04:45]

be called the son of the highest, and the Lord  God shall give unto him the throne of his father

[04:50]

David." Verse 33, "And he shall reign over the  house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there

[04:56]

shall be no end." Verse 34. Then said Mary unto  the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not

[05:04]

a man? Verse 35. And the angel answered, and said  unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,

[05:13]

and the power of the highest shall overshadow  thee. Therefore also that holy thing which

[05:18]

shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of  God. Verse 36. And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth,

[05:25]

she hath also conceived a son in her old age, and  this is the sixth month with her, who was called

[05:31]

barren. Verse 37, for with God nothing shall be  impossible. 38 and Mary said, Behold the handmade

[05:41]

of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy  word. And the angel departed from her. Verse 39.

[05:48]

And Mary arose in those days and went into the  hill country with haste into a city of Judah.

[05:54]

Verse 40. And entered into the house of Zacharias  and saluted Elizabeth. Verse 41. And it came to

[06:02]

pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of  Mary, the babe leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth

[06:09]

was filled with the Holy Ghost. Verse 42. and she  spake out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed art

[06:16]

thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy  womb." Verse 43. And whence is this to me that the

[06:24]

mother of my Lord should come to me. Verse 44, for  lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded

[06:32]

in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for  joy. Verse 45. And blessed is she that believed,

[06:40]

for there shall be a performance of those things  which were told her from the Lord. Verse 46. And

[06:46]

Mary said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord." Verse  47. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

[06:54]

Verse 48. For he hath regarded the low estate of  his handmaiden. For behold, from henceforth all

[07:00]

generations shall call me blessed. Verse 49. For  he that is mighty hath done to me great things,

[07:07]

and holy is his name. Verses 50. And his mercy  is on them that fear him from generation to

[07:14]

generation. Verses 51. He hath showed strength  with his arm. He hath scattered the proud in the

[07:21]

imagination of their hearts. Verses 52. He hath  put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted

[07:27]

them of low degree. 53. He hath filled the hungry  with good things, and the rich he hath sent empty

[07:34]

away. Verse 54. He hath helped his servant Israel  in remembrance of his mercy. 55 As he spake to our

[07:42]

fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever.  Verse 56. And Mary abodeed with her about 3

[08:12]

the name of his father. Verse 60. And his mother  answered and said, "Not so, but he shall be called

[08:19]

John." Verse 61. And they said unto her, There is  none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

[08:26]

Verse 62. And they made signs to his father how  he would have him called. Verse 63. And he asked

[08:34]

for a writing table and wrote, saying, His name  is John. And they marveled all. Verse 64. And his

[08:42]

mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue  loosed, and he spake and praised God. Verses

[08:48]

[08:55]

throughout all the hill country of Judea. Verses  and 66. And all they that heard them laid them

[09:02]

up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child  shall this be? And the hand of the Lord was with

[09:08]

him. Verses 67. And his father Zachcharias was  filled with the Holy Ghost and prophesied, saying,

[09:16]

Vers 68, blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for  he hath visited and redeemed his people. Verse 69,

[09:23]

and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us  in the house of his servant David. Verse 70, as

[09:29]

he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which  have been since the world began. Verse 71, that

[12:28]

1 VS4, glory to God in the highest, and on earth  peace, goodwill toward men. 1 VS5. And it came

[12:37]

to pass, as the angels were gone away from them  into heaven, the shepherd said one to another,

Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this  thing which has come to pass, which the Lord

hath made known unto us. Verse 16. And they  came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph,

[12:56]

saying which was told them concerning this child.  18 And all they that heard it wondered at those

[14:27]

not see death before he had seen the Lord's  Christ. 27 And he came by the Spirit into the

[14:33]

temple. And when the parents brought in the child  Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

[14:39]

servant depart in peace, according to thy word.  He for mine eyes have seen thy salvation. 31

[14:52]

Which thou has prepared before the face of all  people. 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles and the

[14:58]

glory of thy people, Israel. 33 And Joseph and his  mother marveled at those things which were spoken

[15:07]

[15:36]

unto him by the Holy Ghost that he should not  see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

[15:43]

27 And he came by the spirit into the temple, and  when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do

[15:49]

for him after the custom of the law. 28 Then took  he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

[15:56]

29 Lord, now let us thou thy servant depart  in peace, according to thy word. 30 For mine

[16:03]

eyes have seen thy salvation. 31 Which thou hast  prepared before the face of all people. 32 A light

[16:11]

to lighten the Gentiles in the glory of thy people  Israel. 33 And Joseph and his mother marveled

[16:18]

at those things which were spoken of him. 34 And  Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary his mother,

[16:26]

Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising  again of many in Israel, and for a sign which

[16:32]

shall be spoken against to you. Verse 35. Ya,  a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,

all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.  Verse 39. And when they had performed all things

[17:19]

according to the law of the Lord, they returned  into Galilee to their own city Nazareth. Verse of

[17:49]

And when they had fulfilled the days, as they  returned, the child Jesus carried behind in

[17:53]

Jerusalem, and Joseph and his mother knew not  of it. Verse 44, but they supposing him to have

[18:00]

been in the company, went a day's journey,  and they sought him among their kins folk

[18:04]

and acquaintance. Verse 45. And when they found  him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem,

they were amazed. And his mother said unto him,  Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? Behold,

[18:43]

thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.  Verse 49. And he said unto them, how is it that

[18:49]

ye sought me? Wish ye not that I must be about my  father's business? Verse 50. And they understood

[18:57]

not the saying which he spake unto them. Verse 51.  And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth,

[19:04]

and was subject unto them, but his mother  kept all these sayings in her heart. Verse 52.

[19:12]

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and  in favor with God and man. Chapter 3:1 Now in

[19:19]

the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,  Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea and Herod

[19:25]

being tetrarch of Galilee and his brother Philip  tetrarch of Itaya and of the region of Tchonitis

[19:32]

and Lysanius the tetrarch of Abalene. Verse two.  Anus and Caiaphas being the high priest. The word

[19:38]

of God came unto John the son of Zachcharias in  the wilderness. Verse three, and he came into all

[19:44]

the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism  of repentance for the remission of sins. Verse 4,

[19:51]

as it is written in the book of the words of  Isias the prophet, saying, the voice of one

[19:56]

crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way  of the Lord, make his path straight. Verse 5,

[20:02]

every valley shall be filled, and every mountain  and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked

[20:08]

shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall  be made smooth. Verse 6, and all flesh shall see

[20:14]

the salvation of God. Verse 7, then said he to the  multitude that came forth to be baptized of him,

[20:21]

oh generation of vipers, who hath warned you to  flee from the wrath to come. Verse 8, "Bring forth

[20:29]

therefore fruits worthy of repentance,  and begin not to say within yourselves,

[20:34]

we have Abraham to our father." For I say unto  you, that God is able of these stones to raise up

[20:40]

children unto Abraham. Verse 9, "And now also the  axes laid unto the root of the trees. Every tree,

[20:48]

therefore, which bringeth not forth good fruit,  is heuned down, and cast into the fire." Verse 10.

[20:55]

And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do  then? Verse 11, he answerth and saith unto them,

[21:02]

he that hath two coats, let him impart to him  that hath none, and he that hath meat, let him

[21:07]

do likewise. Verse 12. Then came also publicans to  be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall

[21:15]

we do? Verse 13. And he said unto them, Exact no  more than that which is appointed you. Verse 14.

[21:23]

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying,  "And what shall we do?" And he said unto them,

[21:28]

"Do violence to no man, neither accuse any  falsely, and be content with your wages." Verse

[21:34]

15. And as the people were in expectation, and all  men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were

[21:42]

the Christ or not. Verse 16. John answered, saying  unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water,

[21:49]

but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet  of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose. He

[21:54]

shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with  fire. Verse 17, whose fan is in his hand, and he

[22:02]

will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather  the wheat into his garner, but the chaff he will

[22:08]

burn with fire unquenchable. Verse 18. And many  other things in his exhortation reached he unto

[22:15]

the people. Verse 19. But Herod the tetrarch being  reproved by him for Herodius his brother Philip's

[22:22]

wife and for all the evils which Herod had done.  Verse 20 added yet this above all that he shut

[22:30]

up John in prison. Verse 21. Now when all the  people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus

[22:37]

also being baptized and praying, the heaven was  opened. Verse 22. And the Holy Ghost descended in

[38:10]

man putteth new wine into old bottles, else the  new wine will burst the bottles and be spilled,

[40:12]

and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip  and Bartholomew. Verse 15, Matthew and Thomas,

and Judas's Scariot, which also was the traitor.  Verse 17. And he came down with them and stood in

[41:06]

the plain and the company of his disciples and  a great multitude of people out of all Judea

[41:46]

Blessed are ye that weep now, for ye shall laugh."  Verse 22. Blessed are ye when men shall hate you,

[41:54]

and when they shall separate you from their  company, and shall reproach you, and cast out

[41:59]

your name as evil for the Son of man's sake. Verse  23, rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy, for

[42:07]

behold, your reward is great in heaven, for in the  like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

[42:14]

Verse 24, but woe unto you that are rich, for ye  have received your consolation. Verse 25, woe unto

[42:22]

you that are full, for ye shall hunger. Woe unto  you that laugh now, for ye shall mourn and weep.

[42:30]

Verse 26, woe unto you when all men shall speak  well of you, for so did their fathers to the

[42:36]

false prophets. Verse 27, but I say unto you which  hear, "Love your enemies, do good to them which

[42:44]

hate you." Verse 28, "Bless them that curse you,  and pray for them which despitefully use you." 29,

[42:51]

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek,  offer also the other, and him that taketh away thy

[42:57]

cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also. Verse 30,  Give to every man that askketh of thee, and of him

[43:04]

that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again.  31 And as ye would that men should do to you,

do ye also to them likewise? Verse 32, For if you  love them which love you, what thank have ye? For

[43:19]

sinners also love those that love them. Verse 33,  And if you do good to them which do good to you,

[43:26]

what thank have ye? For sinners also do even the  same. Verse 34. And if you lend to them of whom ye

[43:33]

hope to receive, what thank have ye? For sinners  also lend to sinners to receive as much again.

and to the evil. Verse 36, be ye therefore  merciful, as your father also is merciful. Verse

[44:01]

[44:08]

and ye shall be forgiven. Verse 38, give and it  shall be given unto you, good measure pressed down

[44:15]

and shaken together, and running over shall men  give into your bosom. For with the same measure

that ye meet with all, it shall be measured to you  again. Verse 39. And he spake a parable unto them,

[44:54]

let me pull out the moat that is in thine eye,  when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is

[44:59]

in thine own eye, thou hypocrite, cast out first  the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou

[45:06]

see clearly to pull out the moat that is in thy  brother's eye. Verse 43, for a good tree bringeth

[45:12]

not forth corrupt fruit, neither doth a corrupt  tree bring forth good fruit. Verse 44. For every

they grapes. Verse 45. A good man out of the good  treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is

of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.  Verse 46. And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do

[45:47]

not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh  to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them,

[45:55]

I will show you to whom he is like. Verse 48. He  is like a man which built an house, and dig deep,

[46:02]

and laid the foundation on a rock. And when  the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently

[46:07]

upon that house, and could not shake it, for  it was founded upon a rock. Verse 49. But he

[46:14]

that heareth and doeth not is like a man that  without a foundation built an house upon the earth

great. Chapter 7 verse 1. Now when he had ended  all his stayings in the audience of the people,

And when he was now not far from the house, the  centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him,

[47:15]

Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy  that thou shouldest enter under my roof. Verse 7,

[47:23]

wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come  unto thee, but say in a word, and my servant shall

[47:28]

be healed. Verse 8, for I also am a man set  under authority, having under me soldiers,

[47:36]

and I say unto one, "Go," and he goeth, and to  another, "Come," and he cometh. And to my servant,

[47:43]

"Do this, and he doeth it." Verse 9. When Jesus  heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned

[47:50]

him about, and said unto the people that followed  him, I say unto you, I have not found so great

[48:58]

among us, and that God hath visited his people.  Verse 17. And this rumor of him went forth

[49:06]

throughout all Judea, and throughout all the  region roundabout. Verse 18, and the disciples

sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that  should come, or look we for another? Verse 20.

[49:53]

and unto many that were blind, he gave sight.  Verse 22. Then Jesus answering said unto them,

[50:00]

"Go your way, and tell John what things ye have  seen and heard, how that the blind see, the lame

[50:05]

walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear,  the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is

[50:11]

preached." Verse 23. and blessed is he whosoever  shall not be offended in me. Verse 24. And when

[50:20]

the messengers of John were departed, he began  to speak unto the people concerning John. What

[50:26]

went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed  shaken with the wind. Verse 25. But what went ye

[50:34]

out for to see? A man clothed in soft raignment.  Behold, they which are gorgeously appar delicately

[50:42]

are in king's courts. Verse 26. But what went ye  out for to see a prophet? Yay, I say unto you,

[50:50]

and much more than a prophet. Verse 27. This  is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send

[50:57]

my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare  thy way before thee. Verse 28. For I say unto you,

[51:06]

among those that are born of women, there is not a  greater prophet than John the Baptist. But he that

[51:10]

is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.  Verse 29. And all the people that heard him, and

[51:17]

the publicans justified God, being baptized with  the baptism of John. Verse 30, but the Pharisees

[51:24]

and lawyers rejected the council of God against  themselves, being not baptized of him. Verse 31.

[51:32]

And the Lord said, "Where unto then shall I liken  the men of this generation?" And to what are they

[51:38]

like? Verse 32, "They are like unto children  sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to

[51:46]

another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and  ye have not danced. We have mourned to you, and ye

[51:53]

have not wept." Verse 33. For John the Baptist  came neither eating bread nor drinking wine,

[52:00]

and ye say, "He hath a devil." Verse 34, "The Son  of Man is come eating and drinking, and ye say,

[52:09]

Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine bber, a  friend of publicans and sinners." Verses 35. But

[52:16]

wisdom is justified of all her children. Verses  36. And one of the Pharisees desired him that he

[52:24]

would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisees  house and sat down to meet. Verses 37. And behold,

[52:33]

a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when  she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisees

[52:38]

house, brought an alabaster box of ointment. Verse  38, and stood at his feet behind him weeping, and

[52:44]

began to wash his feet with tears, and did wiped  them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his

[52:50]

feet. and anointed them with the ointment. Verse  39. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw

[52:58]

it, he spake within himself, saying, "This man, if  he were a prophet, would have known who and what

[53:05]

manner of woman this is that touchth him, for she  is a sinner." Verse 40. And Jesus answering said

[53:13]

unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee.  And he saith, Master, say on. Verse 41. There was

[53:21]

a certain creditor which had two debtors. The  one owed 500 p and the other 50. Verse 42. And

[53:29]

when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave  them both. Tell me therefore which of them will

[53:34]

love him most. Verse 43. Simon answered and said,  I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he

[53:43]

said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. Verse 44.  And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon,

[53:51]

"Seeest thou this woman. I entered into thine  house. Thou gavest me no water for my feet,

[53:57]

but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped  them with the hairs of her head." Verse 45, thou

[54:05]

gavest me no kiss, but this woman since the time I  came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. Verse 46,

[54:12]

my head with oil thou did not anoint, but this  woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Verse

[54:18]

47. Wherefore I say unto thee, her sins which  are many are forgiven, for she loved much,

[54:25]

but to whom little is forgiven, same loveth  little. Verse 48. And he said unto her,

[54:31]

Thy sins are forgiven. Verse 49. And they that sat  at meat with him began to say within themselves,

[54:39]

Who is this that forgiveth sins also? Verse 50.  And he said to the woman, "Thy faith hath saved

[54:46]

thee. Go in peace. Chapter 8:1. And it came to  pass afterward that he went throughout every city

[54:52]

and village preaching and showing the glad tidings  of the kingdom of God. And the twel were with him

[54:58]

versed and certain women which had been healed  of evil spirits and infirmities. Mary called

[55:04]

Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils. Verse  three. and Joanna the wife of Chuzah Herod steward

[55:12]

and Susanna and many others which ministered unto  him of their substance. Verse four. And when much

[55:20]

people were gathered together and were come to him  out of every city, he spake by a parable. Verse 5.

[55:29]

A swer went out to sew his seed. And as he sowed,  some fell by the wayside, and it was trotten down,

[55:35]

and the fowls of the air devoured it. Verse 6,  and some fell upon a rock, and as soon as it was

[55:43]

sprung up, it withered away because it lacked  moisture. Verse 7, and some fell among thorns,

[55:50]

and the thorn sprang up with it, and choked  it. Years say, and other fell on good ground,

[55:56]

and sprang up, and bear fruit, and hundfold.  And when he had said these things, he cried,

[56:02]

he that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Verse 9.  And his disciples asked him, saying, "What might

[56:10]

this parable be?" Verse 10. And he said, "Unto you  it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom

[56:19]

of God, but to others in parables, that seeing  they might not see, and hearing they might not

[56:25]

understand." 11 Now the parable is this, the seed  is the word of God. Verse 12. Those by the wayside

[56:34]

are they that hear. Then cometh the devil and  taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest

[56:40]

they should believe and be saved. Verse 13. They  on the rock are they which when they hear receive

[56:48]

the word with joy. And these have no root which  for a while believe and in time of temptation

[56:55]

fall away. Verse 14. and that which fell among  thorns are they which when they have heard go

[57:01]

forth and are choked with cares and riches and  pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to

[57:06]

perfection. Verses 15 but that on the good ground  are they which in an honest and good heart having

[57:14]

heard the word keep it and bring forth fruit with  patience. Verse 16. No man when he hath lighted a

[57:22]

candle coverth it with a vessel or putth it under  a bed, but setth it on a candlestick, that they

[57:28]

which enter in may see the light. Verse 17, for  nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest,

[57:35]

neither anything hid that shall not be known and  come abroad. verses 18. Take heed therefore how

[57:43]

ye hear, for whosoever hath to him shall be  given, and whosoever hath not, from him shall

[57:49]

be taken even that which he seemth to have. Verse  19, then came to him his mother and his brethren,

[57:56]

and could not come at him for the press. Verse  20, and it was told him by certain which said,

[58:03]

Thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring  to see thee. Verse 21. And he answered and said

[58:08]

unto them, My mother and my brethren are these  which hear the word of God and do it. Verse 22.

[58:16]

Now it came to pass on a certain day that he went  into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto

[58:21]

them, "Let us go over unto the other side of the  lake, and they launched forth." Verse 23. But as

[58:28]

they sailed, he fell asleep, and there came down  a storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled

[58:34]

with water and were in jeopardy. Verse 24. And  they came to him and awoke him, saying, "Master,

[58:42]

master, we perish." Then he arose and rebuked the  wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased,

[58:49]

and there was a calm. Verse 25. And he said unto  them, "Where is your faith?" And they being afraid

[58:58]

wondered, saying one to another, "What manner  of man is this? For he commandeth even the winds

[59:04]

and water, and they obey him." Verses 26. And they  arrived at the country of the Gatherines, which is

[59:12]

over against Galilee. Verse 27. And when he went  forth to land, there met him out of the city a

[59:19]

certain man, which had devils long time, and wear  no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the

[59:26]

tombs. Verse 28. When he saw Jesus, he cried out  and fell down before him, and with a loud voice

[59:34]

said, "What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou  son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me

[59:41]

not." Verse 29. For he had commanded the unclean  spirit to come out of the man, for often times it

[59:48]

had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains  and infedters, and he break the bands and was

[59:54]

driven of the devil into the wilderness. Verse 30.  And Jesus asked him, saying, "What is thy name?"

[60:02]

And he said, "Leion, because many devils were  entered into him." Verse 31. And they besought

[60:09]

him that he would not command them to go out into  the deep. Verse 32. And there was there an herd

[60:16]

of many swine feeding on the mountain. And they  besought him that he would suffer them to enter

[60:22]

into them, and he suffered them. Verse 33. Then  went the devils out of the man and entered into

[60:28]

the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep  place into the lake, and were choked. Verse 34.

[60:36]

When they that fed them saw what was done, they  fled and went and told it in the city and in the

[60:41]

country. Verse 35. Then they went out to see what  was done and came to Jesus and found the man out

[60:49]

of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the  feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and

[60:54]

they were afraid. Verse 36. They also which saw  it told them by what means he that was possessed

[61:01]

of the devils was healed. Verse 37. Then the whole  multitude of the country of the gatherines round

[61:07]

about besought him to depart from them for they  were taken with great fear and he went up into the

[61:13]

ship and returned back again. Verse 38. Now the  man out of whom the devils were departed besought

[61:20]

him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him  away saying 39 Return to thine own house and show

[61:28]

how great things God hath done unto thee. and he  went his way and published throughout the whole

[61:33]

city how great things Jesus had done unto him.  Verse 40. And it came to pass that when Jesus was

[61:41]

returned, the people gladly received him, for  they were all waiting for him 41. And behold,

[61:50]

there came a man named Gyrus, and he was a ruler  of the synagogue, and he fell down at Jesus's

[61:56]

feet, and besought him that he would come into  his house. Verses 42 for he had one only daughter

[62:04]

about 12 years of age and she lay a dying but as  he went the people thronged him. Vess 43 and a

[62:12]

woman having an issue of blood 12 years which had  spent all her living upon physicians neither could

[62:18]

be healed of any. Verses 44 came behind him and  touched the border of his garment and immediately

[62:24]

her issue of blood stanched. Verses 45. And Jesus  said, "Who touched me?" When all denied, Peter and

[62:32]

they that were with him said, "Master, multitude  throng thee, and pressed thee, who touched me?"

[62:38]

Verse 46. And Jesus said, "Somebody hath touched  me, for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me."

[62:46]

Verse 47. And when the woman saw that she was  not hid, she came trembling, and falling down

[62:54]

before him, she declared unto him before all  the people for what cause she had touched him,

[62:59]

and how she was healed immediately. Verse 48. And  he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort.

[63:06]

Thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace. Verse  49. while he yet spake, there cometh one from the

[63:14]

ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him,  "Thy daughter is dead. Trouble not the master."

[63:20]

Verse 50. But when Jesus heard it, he answered  him, saying, "Fear not. Believe only, and she

[63:27]

shall be made whole." Verse 51. And when he came  into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save

[63:34]

Peter, and James and John, and the father and the  mother of the maiden. Verse 52. And all wept and

[63:41]

bewailed her. But he said, "Weep not, she is not  dead, but sleepeth." Verse 53. And they laughed

[63:49]

him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. Verse 54.  And he put them all out, and took her by the hand,

[63:57]

and called, saying, "Made, arise." Verse 55. And  her spirit came again, and she arose straightway,

[64:04]

and he commanded to give her meat. Verse 56. and  her parents were astonished. But he charged them

[64:12]

that they should tell no man what was done.  Chapter 9:1 Then he called his 12 disciples

[64:18]

together and gave them power and authority over  all devils and to cure diseases. Verse two, and

[64:25]

he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to  heal the sick. Verse three, and he said unto them,

[64:31]

take nothing for your journey, neither staves nor  script, neither bread, neither money, neither have

[64:37]

two coats of piece. Verse four. And whatsoever  house ye enter into there abide and then depart.

[64:44]

Verse 5. And whosoever will not receive you when  ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust

[64:51]

from your feet for a testimony against them.  Verse 6. And they departed and went through the

[64:57]

towns preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.  Verse 7. Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that

[65:06]

was done by him and he was perplexed because  that it was said of some that John was risen

[65:11]

from the dead. Verse 8. And of some that Elias  had appeared and of others that one of the old

[65:19]

prophets was risen again. Verse 9. And Herod said,  John have I beheaded, but who is this of whom I

[65:26]

hear such things? And he desired to see him. Verse  10. And the apostles, when they were returned,

[65:33]

told him all that they had done. And he took  them and went aside privately into a desert place

[65:38]

belonging to the city called Bethida. Verse 11.  And the people when they knew it, followed him.

[65:46]

And he received them, and spake unto them of the  kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of

[65:52]

healing. Verse 12. And when the day began to wear  away, then came the twel and said unto him, "Send

[66:00]

the multitude away that they may go into the towns  and country roundabout and lodge and get victuals,

[66:06]

for we are here in a desert place." Verses 13. But  he said unto them, "Give ye them to eat." And they

[66:14]

said, "We have no more but five loaves and two  fishes, except we should go and buy meat for all

[66:20]

this people." Verse 14. for they were about 5,000  men. And he said to his disciples, "Make them sit

[66:28]

down by 50s in a company." Verse 9. And Herod  said, "John have I beheaded, but who is this of

[66:36]

whom I hear such things?" And he desired to see  him. Verse 10. And the apostles, when they were

[66:44]

returned, told him all that they had done. And he  took them and went aside privately into a desert

[66:50]

place belonging to the city called Bethida. Verse  11. And the people, when they knew it, followed

[66:57]

him, and he received them, and spake unto them of  the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need

[67:03]

of healing. Verse 12. And when the day began to  wear away, then came the twel and said unto him,

[67:10]

"Send the multitude away that they may go into  the towns and country round about and lodge and

[67:16]

get victuals, for we are here in a desert place."  Verses 13. But he said unto them, "Give ye them

[67:24]

to eat." And they said, "We have no more but five  loaves and two fishes, except we should go and buy

[67:30]

meat for all this people." Verse 14. for they were  about 5,000 men. And he said to his disciples,

[67:39]

"Make them sit down by 50s in a company." Verse  15. And they did so and made them all sit down.

[67:46]

Verse 16. Then he took the five loaves and the  two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed

[67:53]

them and break, and gave to the disciples to set  before the multitude. Verse 17. And they did eat,

[68:00]

and were all filled. And there was taken up of  fragments that remained to them 12 baskets. Verse

[68:06]

18. And it came to pass as he was alone praying,  his disciples were with him, and he asked them,

[68:13]

saying, Whom say the people that I am? Verse 19,  they answering said John the Baptist, but some say

[68:21]

Elias, and others say that one of the old prophets  is risen again. Verse 20, he said unto them,

[68:27]

But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said,  "The Christ of God." Verse 21, "And he straightly

[68:34]

charged them and commanded them to tell no man  that thing." Verse 22, "The Son of Man must

[68:42]

suffer many things and be rejected of the elders  and chief priests and scribes, and be slain,

[68:48]

and be raised the third day." Verse 23. And he  said to them all, "If any man will come after me,

[68:54]

let him deny himself and take up his cross daily  and follow me." Verse 24, for whosoever will save

[69:01]

his life shall lose it, but whosoever will lose  his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

[69:07]

Verse 25, for what is a man advantaged if he gain  the whole world and lose himself or be cast away?

[69:15]

Verse 26. For whosoever shall be ashamed of me  and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be

[69:22]

ashamed when he shall come in his own glory and  in his fathers and of the holy angels. Verse 27.

[69:30]

But I tell you of a truth. There be some standing  here which shall not taste of death till they see

[69:36]

the kingdom of God. Verse 28. And it came to pass  about in 8 days after these sayings, he took Peter

[69:44]

and John and James and went up into a mountain to  pray. Verse 29. And as he prayed, the fashion of

[69:51]

his countenance was altered, and his raignment  was white and glistering. Verse 30. And behold,

[69:59]

there talked with him two men, which were Moses  and Elias. Verse 31, who appeared in glory, and

[70:06]

spake of his decease, which he should accomplish  at Jerusalem. Verse 32, but Peter and they that

[70:11]

were with him were heavy with sleep. And when they  were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men

[70:17]

that stood with him. Verse 33. And it came to pass  as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus,

[70:25]

"Master, it is good for us to be here. And let  us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one

[70:31]

for Moses, and one for Elias, not knowing what he  said." Verse 34, "While he thus spake, there came

[70:39]

a cloud and overshadowed them, and they feared  as they entered into the cloud." Verses 35. And

[70:46]

there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This  is my beloved son. Hear him." Verses 36. And when

[70:53]

the voice was passed, Jesus was found alone, and  they kept it close, and told no man in those days

[70:59]

any of those things which they had seen. BS37. And  it came to pass that on the next day, when they

[71:07]

were come down from the hill, much people met him.  Verse 38. And behold, a man of the company cried

[71:14]

out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my  son, for he is mine only child. Verse 39. And lo,

[71:23]

a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crith  out, and it teareth him, that he foamth again,

[71:28]

and bruising him hardly departth from him. Verse  40. And I besought thy disciples to cast him out,

[71:35]

and they could not. Verse 41. And Jesus answering  said,"Oh faithless and perverse generation, how

[71:43]

long shall I be with you and suffer you? Bring thy  son hither." Verse 42. And as he was yet a coming,

[71:51]

the devil threw him down and tear him. And  Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed

[71:56]

the child and delivered him again to his father.  Verse 43. And they were all amazed at the mighty

[72:03]

power of God. But while they wondered everyone  at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his

[72:09]

disciples, verse 44, "Let these sayings sink  down into your ears, for the Son of Man shall

[72:16]

be delivered into the hands of men." Verse 45,  "But they understood not this saying, and it

[72:21]

was hid from them, that they perceived it not, and  they feared to ask him of that saying." Verse 46,

[72:28]

then there arose a reasoning among them, which  of them should be greatest. Verses 47. And Jesus

[72:36]

perceiving the thought of their heart, took a  child, and set him by him. Verse 48. And said unto

[72:42]

them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my  name receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me

[72:49]

receiveth him that sent me. For he that is least  among you all, the same shall be great. Verses 49.

[72:57]

And John answered and said,"Master, we saw one  casting out devils in thy name, and we forbad him,

[73:03]

because he followeth not with us." Verse 50. And  Jesus said unto him, "Forbid him not, for he that

[73:11]

is not against us is for us." Verses 51. And  it came to pass, when the time was come that he

[73:18]

should be received up, he steadfastly set his face  to go to Jerusalem. Verses 52 and sent messengers

[73:25]

before his face and they went and entered into a  village of the Samaritans to make ready for him.

[73:31]

Verse 53 and they did not receive him because his  face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. Verse

[73:37]

54. And when his disciples James and John saw  this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command

[73:43]

fire to come down from heaven and consume them  even as Elias did? Verse 55. But he turned and

[73:52]

rebuked them and said, "Ye know not what manner of  spirit ye are of." Verse 56, "For the Son of Man

[73:59]

is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save  them." And they went to another village. Verse 57,

[74:06]

"And it came to pass that as they went in the  way, a certain man said unto him,"Lord, I will

[74:11]

follow thee whethersoever thou goest." Verse  58. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes,

[74:18]

and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of  Man hath not where to lay his head. Verses 59. And

[74:26]

he said unto another, "Follow me." But he said,  "Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father."

[74:33]

Verses 60. Jesus said unto him, "Let the dead bury  their dead, but go thou and preach the kingdom of

[74:40]

God." Verse 61. And another also said,"Lord, I  will follow thee." But let me first go bid them

[74:47]

farewell, which are at home at my house. Verse 62.  And Jesus said unto him, "No man, having put his

[74:54]

hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the  kingdom of God." Chapter 10:1. After these things,

[75:01]

the Lord appointed other 70 also, and sent them  two and two before his face into every city and

[75:07]

place, whether he himself would come.  Verse two, therefore said he unto them,

[75:14]

the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are  few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,

[75:20]

that he would send forth laborers into his  harvest. Verse three, go your ways. Behold,

[75:27]

I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Verse  four, carry neither purse nor script nor shoes,

[75:33]

and salute no man by the way. Verse 5. And into  whatsoever house ye enter, first say, peace be

[75:40]

to this house. Verse 6. And if the son of peace  be there, your peace shall rest upon it. If not,

[75:46]

shall turn to you again. Verse 7. And in the same  house remain, eating and drinking such things as

[75:53]

they give. For the laborer is worthy of his hire.  Go not from house to house. Verse 8. and into

[76:02]

whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you,  eat such things as are set before you. Verse 9,

[76:09]

and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto  them, the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

[76:15]

Verse 10, but into whatsoever city ye enter,  and they receive you not. Go your ways out into

[76:21]

the streets of the same and say verses 11, even  the very dust of your city which cleaveth on us,

[76:28]

we do wipe off against you. Notwithstanding be ye  sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh

[76:35]

unto you. Verse 12, but I say unto you that it  shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than

[76:43]

for that city. Verse 13. Woe unto thee Corazin.  Woe unto thee Bethada. For if the mighty works had

[76:53]

been done in Ty and Sidon, which have been done in  you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting

[76:59]

in sackcloth and ashes. Verse 14. But it shall be  more tolerable for Ty and Sidon at the judgment

[77:05]

than for you. Verse 15. And thou, Capernium, which  art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to

[77:12]

hell. Verse 16, he that heareth you heareth  me, and he that despiseth you despiseth me,

[77:19]

and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent  me. Verse 17, and the 70 returned again with joy,

[77:27]

saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us  through thy name. Verse 18, And he said unto them,

[77:34]

I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents

[77:41]

and scorpions, and over all the power of the  enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

[77:47]

Verse 20, notwithstanding in this, rejoice not  that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather

[77:55]

rejoice because your names are written in heaven.  Verse 21. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit

[78:02]

and said, "I thank thee, oh Father, Lord of heaven  and earth, that thou hast hid these things from

[78:08]

the wise and prudent and hast revealed them unto  babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in

[78:14]

thy sight." Verses 22. All things are delivered to  me of my father, and no man knoweth who the Son is

[78:22]

but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son,  and he to whom the Son will reveal him. Verse 23.

[78:30]

And he turned him unto his disciples and said  privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the

[78:35]

things that ye see." Verse 24. For I tell you  that many prophets and kings have desired to

[78:42]

see those things which ye see and have not seen  them, and to hear those things which you hear

[78:48]

and have not heard them. Verse 25. And behold, a  certain lawyer stood up and tempted him, saying,

[78:55]

"Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal  life?" Verse 26. He said unto him, "What is

[79:03]

written in the law? How readest thou?" Verse 27.  And he answering said, "Thou shalt love the Lord

[79:10]

thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,  and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind,

[79:16]

and thy neighbor as thyself." Verse 28. And he  said unto him, "Thou hast answered right, this do,

[79:24]

and thou shalt live." Verse 29, "But he willing  to justify himself said unto Jesus, and who is my

[79:31]

neighbor?" Verse 30. And Jesus answering said, "A  certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho,

[79:39]

and fell among thieves, which stripped him of  his raignment, and wounded him, and departed,

[79:44]

leaving him half dead." Verse 31. And by chance  there came down a certain priest that way,

[79:52]

and when he saw him, he passed by on the other  side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the

[80:00]

place, came and looked on him, and passed by on  the other side. Verse 33. But a certain Samaritan,

[80:08]

as he journeyed, came where he was, and when he  saw him, he had compassion on him. Verse 34. And

[80:14]

went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring  in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast,

[80:20]

and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.  Verse 35. And on the tomorrow when he departed, he

[80:27]

took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and  said unto him, Take care of him, and whatsoever

[80:34]

thou spendest more when I come again, I will repay  thee. Verse 36, which now of these three thinkkest

[80:40]

thou was neighbor unto him that fell among the  thieves. Verse 37, and he said, he that showed

[80:47]

mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go and do  thou likewise. Verse 38. Now it came to pass as

[80:56]

they went that he entered into a certain village,  and a certain woman named Martha received him into

[81:02]

her house. Verse 39. And she had a sister called  Mary, which also sat at Jesus's feet, and heard

[81:10]

his word. Verse 40. But Martha was cumbered about  much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord,

[81:17]

dust thou not care that my sister hath left me  to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help

[81:22]

me. Verse 41. And Jesus answered, and said unto  her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled

[81:31]

about many things. Verse 42. But one thing is  needful, and Mary hath chosen that good part,

[81:37]

it shall not be taken away from her. 11:1 And it  came to pass that as he was praying in a certain

[81:44]

place. When he ceased, one of his disciples said  unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also

[81:50]

taught his disciples. Verse two, and he said unto  them, when ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in

[81:56]

heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,  thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

[82:04]

Verse three, give us day by day our daily bread.  Verse four, and forgive us our sins, for we also

[82:11]

forgive everyone that is indebted to us, and lead  us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

[82:18]

Verse 5. And he said unto them, which of you shall  have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight,

[82:25]

and say unto him, friend, lend me three loaves?  Verse 6, for a friend of mine in his journey is

[82:33]

come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.  Verse 7, and he from within shall answer and say,

[82:40]

Trouble me not. The door is now shut, and my  children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and

[82:46]

give thee. Verse 8, I say unto you, though he will  not rise and give him, because he is his friend,

[82:54]

yet because of his importunity, he will rise and  give him as many as he needeth. Verses 9, and I

[83:00]

say unto you, ask and it shall be given you. Seek  and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened

[83:07]

unto you. Verses 10. For everyone that askketh  receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to

[83:14]

him that knockketh, it shall be opened. Verses 11.  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a

[83:21]

father, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a  fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Verse

[83:27]

12, Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him  a scorpion? Verses 13. If ye then being evil know

[83:37]

how to give good gifts unto your children, how  much more shall your heavenly father give the Holy

[83:42]

Spirit to them that ask him? 14 And he was casting  out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass,

[83:51]

when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake, and  the people wondered. Verses 15, but some of them

[83:58]

said, he casteth out devils through Beelzebub, the  chief of the devils. Verse 16. And others tempting

[84:06]

him, sought of him a sign from heaven. Verse 17.  But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,

[84:13]

every kingdom divided against itself is brought  to desolation, and a house divided against a house

[84:19]

fallth. Verse 18. If Satan also be divided against  himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Because

[84:27]

ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzeub.  Verse 19. And if I by be elabub cast out devils,

[84:35]

by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore  shall they be your judges. Verse 20. But if I with

[84:42]

the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the  kingdom of God is come upon you. Verses 21. When a

[84:49]

strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are  in peace. Verses 22. But when a stronger than he

[84:55]

shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh  from him all his armor, wherein he trusted, and

[85:01]

divideth his spoils. Verse 23, he that is not with  me is against me. And he that gatherth not with me

[85:09]

scatterth. Verse 24, when the unclean spirit is  gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places,

[85:17]

seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I  will return unto my house whence I came out.

[85:23]

Verse 25. And when he cometh, he findeth it  swept and garnished. Verses 26. Then goeth he,

[85:31]

and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked  than himself. And they enter in and dwell there.

[85:38]

And the last state of that man is worse than  the first. Verse 27. And it came to pass as

[85:44]

he spake these things, a certain woman of the  company lifted up her voice, and said unto him,

[85:50]

Blessed is the womb that bear thee, and the paps  which thou hast sucked. Verses 28, but he said,

[85:58]

"Ya rather, blessed are they that hear the word of  God and keep it." Verse 29, "And when the people

[86:06]

were gathered thick together, he began to say,  this is an evil generation. They seek a sign,

[86:12]

and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign  of Jonas the prophet. Verse 30, For as Jonas was

[86:18]

a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son  of Man be to this generation. Verse 31, the queen

[86:26]

of the south shall rise up in the judgment  with the men of this generation and condemn

[86:30]

them. For she came from the utmost parts of the  earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold,

[86:37]

a greater than Solomon is here. Verse 32. The men  of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this

[86:44]

generation and shall condemn it, for they repented  at the preaching of Jonas, and behold, a greater

[86:50]

than Jonas is here. Verse 33. No man, when he hath  lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place,

[86:59]

neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that  they which come in may see the light. Verses 34.

[87:06]

The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when  thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full

[87:12]

of light. But when thine eye is evil, thy body  also is full of darkness. Verse 35, take heed

[87:21]

therefore that the light which is in thee be not  darkness. Verse 36, if thy whole body therefore

[87:27]

be full of light, having no part dark, the whole  shall be full of light, as when the bright shining

[87:33]

of a candle doth give thee light. Verse 37. And  as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to

[87:40]

dine with him, and he went in and sat down to  meet. Verse 38. And when the Pharisees saw it,

[87:47]

he marveled that he had not first washed before  dinner. Verses 39. And the Lord said unto him,

[87:55]

Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the  cup in the platter, but your inward part is full

[88:00]

of ravening and wickedness. Verse 40. Ye fools,  did not he that made that which is without make

[88:08]

that which is within also? Verses 41, but rather  give alms of such things as ye have, and behold,

[88:16]

all things are clean unto you. Verse 42, but woe  unto you Pharisees, for ye tithe mint and rue and

[88:24]

all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and  the love of God. These ought ye to have done, and

[88:31]

not to leave the other undone. Verse 43, woe unto  you Pharisees, for ye love the uppermost seats in

[88:38]

the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.  Verse 44, woe unto you scribes and Pharisees,

[88:45]

hypocrites, for ye are as graves, which appear  not, and the men that walk over them are not

[88:50]

aware of them. Verse 45, then answered one  of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master,

[88:57]

thus saying, Thou reproach us also. Verse 46. And  he said, "Woe unto you also, ye lawyers, for ye

[89:06]

laid men with burdens grievous to be born, and ye  yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your

[89:11]

fingers." Verse 47, "Woe unto you, for ye build  the sephilers of the prophets, and your fathers

[89:19]

killed them." Verse 48. Truly ye bear witness  that ye allow the deeds of your fathers, for they

[89:27]

indeed killed them, and ye build their sephilers.  Verse 49, therefore also said the wisdom of God,

[89:35]

I will send them prophets and apostles, and some  of them they shall slay and persecute. Verse 50,

[89:42]

that the blood of all the prophets which was shed  from the foundation of the world may be required

[89:48]

of this generation. Verse 51. From the blood of  Abel unto the blood of Zachcharias, which perished

[89:56]

between the altar and the temple, verily I  say unto you, it shall be required of this

[90:01]

generation. Verse 52. Woe unto you lawyers, for ye  have taken away the key of knowledge. Ye entered

[90:08]

not in yourselves, and them that were entering in  ye hindered. Verse 53. And as he said these things

[90:15]

unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to  urge him vehemently and to provoke him to speak

[90:20]

of many things. Verse 54. Laying wait for him  and seeking to catch something out of his mouth

[90:27]

that they might accuse him. 12:1. In the meantime,  when there were gathered together an innumerable

[90:34]

multitude of people, in so much that they tr one  upon another, he began to say unto his disciples,

[90:40]

first of all, Beware ye of the leavenven of  the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Verse two,

[90:47]

for there is nothing covered that shall not be  revealed, neither hid that shall not be known.

[90:53]

Verse three, therefore whatsoever ye have spoken  in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that

[91:00]

which ye have spoken in the ear and closets shall  be proclaimed upon the housetops. Verse four,

[91:05]

and I say unto you, my friends, be not afraid  of them that kill the body, and after that have

[91:10]

no more that they can do. Verse 5, but I will  forewarn you whom ye shall fear. Fear him which

[91:17]

after he hath killed hath power to cast into  hell. Ya, I say unto you, fear him. Verses six,

[91:25]

are not five sparrows sold for two farings, and  not one of them is forgotten before God? Seven,

[91:31]

but even the very hairs of your head are all  numbered. Fear not, therefore, ye are of more

[91:36]

value than many sparrows. Verse 8, also I say  unto you, whosoever shall confess me before men,

[91:44]

him shall the Son of Man also confess before the  angels of God. Verse 9, but he that denieth me

[91:51]

before men shall be denied before the angels of  God. Verse 10, and whosoever shall speak a word

[91:58]

against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven  him, but unto him that blasphemeth against

[92:04]

the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven. Verse  11. And when they bring you unto the synagogues,

[92:09]

and unto magistrates and powers, take ye no  thought how or what thing ye shall answer,

[92:14]

or what ye shall say. Verse 12. For the Holy  Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye

[92:20]

ought to say. Verse 13. And one of the company  said unto him, Master, speak to my brother that

[92:27]

he divide the inheritance with me. Verse 14. And  he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a

[92:35]

divider over you? Verse 15. And he said unto  them, Take heed and beware of covetousness.

[92:42]

For a man's life consisteth not in the abundance  of the things which he possesseth. Verse 16. And

[92:49]

he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground  of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully.

[92:55]

Verses 17. And he thought within himself, saying,  What shall I do because I have no room where to

[93:01]

bestow my fruits? Verse 18. And he said, this will  I do. I will pull down my barns and build greater,

[93:09]

and there will I bestow all my fruits and my  goods. Verse 19. And I will say to my soul,

[93:15]

soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years.  Take thine knees, eat, drink, and be merry. Verse

[93:21]

20. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night  thy soul shall be required of thee, then who shall

[93:28]

those things be which thou hast provided? Verse  21. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself,

[93:35]

and is not rich toward God? Verse 22. And he said  unto his disciples, therefore I say unto you,

[93:43]

take no thought for your life what ye shall eat,  neither for the body what ye shall put on. Verse

[93:49]

23, the life is more than meat, and the body is  more than raignnt. Verse 24, consider the ravens,

[93:57]

for they neither sow nor reap, which neither have  storehouse nor barn, and God feedth them. How much

[94:03]

more are ye better than the fowls? Verse 25. And  which of you with taking thought can add to his

[94:09]

stature one cubit? Verse 26. If you then be not  able to do that thing which is least, I take ye

[94:16]

thought for the rest. 27 Consider the liies how  they grow. They toil not, they spin not. And yet

[94:25]

I say unto you that Solomon in all his glory was  not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so

[94:33]

clothe the grass which is today in the field and  tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will

[94:39]

he clothe you, oh ye of little faith? 29 And seek  not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink,

[94:47]

neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these  things do the nations of the world seek after,

[94:54]

and your father knoweth that ye have need of these  things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God,

[95:00]

and all these things shall be added unto you. 32  Fear not, little flock, for it is your father's

[95:07]

good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell  that ye have, and give alms. Provide yourselves

[95:14]

bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens  that faileth not, where no thief approacheth,

[95:20]

neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your  treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35

[95:28]

Let your loins be girded about, and your lights  burning. Verse 36. And ye yourselves like unto

[95:36]

men that wait for their Lord, when he will return  from the wedding, that when he cometh and knockth,

[95:41]

they may open unto him immediately. Verse 37.  Blessed are those servants whom the Lord when

[95:47]

he cometh shall find watching. Verily I say unto  you that he shall gird himself and make them to

[95:54]

sit down to meet and will come forth and serve  them. Verse 38 And if he shall come in the second

[96:01]

watch or come in the third watch and find them so.  Blessed are those servants. 39 And this know that

[96:10]

if the goodman of the house had known what hour  the thief would come, he would have watched and

[96:15]

not have suffered his house to be broken through.  40 Be ye therefore ready also, for the Son of Man

[96:23]

cometh at an hour when ye think not. 41 Then Peter  said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable

[96:32]

unto us, or even to all. Verse 42, And the Lord  said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward,

[96:40]

whom his Lord shall make ruler over his household?  Give them their portion of meat in due season.

[96:45]

Verse 43. Blessed is that servant whom his lord  when he cometh shall find so doing. Verse 44.

[96:52]

Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make  him ruler over all that he hath. Verse 45. But

[96:59]

and if that servant say in his heart, my lord  delayeth his coming, and shall begin to beat

[97:04]

the men's servants and maidens, and to eat and  drink, and to be drunken. Verses 46. The Lord of

[97:12]

that servant will come in a day when he lookth not  for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and

[97:17]

will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his  portion with the unbelievers. Verse 47. And that

[97:25]

servant which knew his Lord's will, and prepared  not himself, neither did according to his will,

[97:31]

shall be beaten with many stripes. Verse 48. But  he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of

[97:39]

stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For  unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be

[97:45]

much required, and to whom men have committed  much, of him they will ask the more. Verse 49,

[97:53]

I am come to send fire on the earth, and what  will I if it be already kindled? Verse 50,

[97:59]

but I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how  am I straightened till it be accomplished? Verse

[98:04]

51. Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on  earth, I tell you, nay, but rather division. Verse

[98:12]

52. For from henceforth there shall be five in one  house divided, three against two, and two against

[98:19]

three. Verse 53. The father shall be divided  against the son, and the son against the father,

[98:26]

the mother against the daughter, and the daughter  against the mother, the mother-in-law against her

[98:32]

daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law against  her mother-in-law. Verse 54. And he said also to

[98:38]

the people, "When ye see a cloud rise out of the  west, straightway ye say, there cometh a shower,

[98:44]

and so it is." Verse 55. And when ye see the  south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat,

[98:52]

and it cometh to pass. Verse 56, Ye hypocrites, ye  can discern the face of the sky and of the earth,

[98:59]

but how is it that you do not discern this time?  Verse 57, Ya, and why even of yourselves judge

[99:06]

ye not what is right? Verse 58. When thou goest  with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou

[99:13]

art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest  be delivered from him, lest he hail thee to the

[99:19]

judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer,  and the officer cast thee into prison. Verse 59. I

[99:25]

tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou  hast paid the very last might. Chapter 13:1. There

[99:34]

were present at that season some that told him  of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled

[99:39]

with their sacrifices. Verse two. And Jesus  answering said unto them, suppose ye that these

[99:45]

Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans,  because they suffered such things. Verse three,

[99:51]

I tell you nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all  likewise perish. Verse four. or those 18 upon whom

[99:59]

the tower in Saleom fell and slew them, think ye  that they were sinners above all men that dwelt

[100:04]

in Jerusalem. Verse 5, I tell you, nay, but except  ye repent, he shall all likewise perish. Verse 6,

[100:14]

he spake also this parable. A certain man had a  fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and

[100:20]

sought fruit thereon, and found none. Verse 7.  Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard,

[100:27]

behold these three years I come seeking fruit  on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down. Why

[100:32]

cumberereth the ground? Verse 8. And he answering  said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also,

[100:39]

till I shall dig about it and dung it. Verse  9. And if it bear fruit, well, and if not,

[100:46]

then after that thou shalt cut it down. Verse 10.  and he was teaching in one of the synagogues on

[100:52]

the Sabbath. Verse 11, and behold, there was a  woman which had a spirit of infirmity 18 years,

[100:59]

and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift  up herself. Verse 12, and when Jesus saw her, he

[101:07]

called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou  art loosed from thine infirmity. Verse 13. And

[101:15]

he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was  made straight and glorified God. Verse 14. And the

[101:22]

ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation,  because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day,

[101:28]

and said unto the people, There are six days  in which men ought to work. In them, therefore,

[101:34]

come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.  Verse 15. The Lord then answered him and said,

[101:41]

"Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the  Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall,

[101:46]

and lead him away to watering?" Verse 16, "And  ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham,

[101:52]

whom Satan hath bound? Lo, these 18 years be  loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?"

[102:00]

Verse 11. And when he had said these things, all  his adversaries were ashamed, and all the people

[102:06]

rejoiced for all the glorious things that  were done by him. Verse 18. Then said he,

[102:13]

"Unto, what is the kingdom of God like? And  where unto shall I resemble it?" Verse 19.

[102:20]

It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man  took and cast into his garden and it grew and

[102:27]

waxed a great tree and the fowls of the air lodged  in the branches of it. Verse 20 and again he said

[102:33]

where unto shall I liken the kingdom of God.  21 It is like leavenan which a woman took and

[102:40]

hid in three measures of meal till the whole was  leavenvened. Verses 22. And he went through the

[102:46]

cities and villages teaching and journeying toward  Jerusalem. Verses 23. Then said one unto him,

[102:53]

Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said  unto them, verse 24, "Strive to enter in at the

[102:59]

straight gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek  to enter in, and shall not be able." Verse 25.

[103:08]

When once the master of the house is risen  up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to

[103:13]

stand without, and to knock at the door, saying,  Lord, Lord, open unto us, and he shall answer,

[103:19]

and say unto you, I know you not whence ye  are. Verse 26, then shall ye begin to say,

[103:25]

we have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou  hast taught in our streets. Verse 27, but he shall

[103:32]

say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are.  Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. Verse

[103:38]

28. There shall be weeping and nashing of teeth  when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and

[103:45]

all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you  yourselves thrust out. Verse 29. And they shall

[103:52]

come from the east and from the west and from the  north and from the south and shall sit down in the

[103:58]

kingdom of God. Verse 30. And behold, there are  last which shall be first, and there are first

[104:06]

which shall be last. Verse 31. The same day there  came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him,

[104:13]

Get thee out, and depart hence, for Herod will  kill thee. Verse 32. And he said unto them, Go ye,

[104:19]

and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and  I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I

[104:25]

shall be perfected. Verse 33. Nevertheless, I must  walk today and tomorrow and the day following,

[104:33]

for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of  Jerusalem. 34 Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which klest

[104:42]

the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto  thee. How often would I have gathered thy children

[104:48]

together, as a hen doth gather her brood under  her wings, and ye would not? Verse 35. Behold,

[104:56]

your house is left unto you desolate. And verily  I say unto you, Ye shall not see me until the time

[105:03]

come when ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh  in the name of the Lord. Chapter 14:1. And it came

[105:10]

to pass as he went into the house of one of the  chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath day,

[105:15]

that they watched him. Two, and behold, there was  a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

[105:22]

Verse three. And Jesus answering spake unto the  lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to

[105:28]

heal on the Sabbath day? Verse four. And they held  their peace. And he took him and healed him and

[105:36]

let him go. Verse 5. And answered them, saying,  Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen

[105:43]

into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out  on the Sabbath day? Verse 6. And they could not

[105:49]

answer him again to these things. Verse 7. And he  put forth a parable to those which were bidden,

[105:55]

when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms,  saying unto them. Verse 8, when thou art bidden

[106:02]

of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the  highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou

[106:08]

be bidden of him. Verse 9, and he that bathe thee  in him come and say to thee, give this man place,

[106:15]

and thou begin with shame to take the lowest  room. Verse 10. But when thou art bidden,

[106:20]

go and sit down in the lowest room, that when  he that bad thee cometh, he may say unto thee,

[106:26]

friend, go up higher, then shalt thou have worship  in the presence of them that sit at me with thee.

[106:31]

Verse 11, for whosoever exalteth himself shall  be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be

[106:38]

exalted. Verse 12. Then said he also to him that  bade him, when thou makest a dinner or a supper,

[106:45]

call not thy friends, nor thy brethren,  neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors,

[106:49]

lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be  made thee. Verse 13, but when thou makest a feast,

[106:56]

call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the  blind. Verse 14, and thou shalt be blessed,

[107:02]

for they cannot recompense thee, for thou shalt  be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

[107:08]

Verse 15. And when one of them that sat at meat  with him heard these things, he said unto him,

[107:14]

Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom  of God. Verse 16. Then said he unto him, A certain

[107:23]

man made a great supper, and bade many. Verse 17.  And sent his servant at supper time to say to them

[107:30]

that were bidden, come, for all things are now  ready. Verse 18. And they all with one consent

[107:37]

began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I  have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go

[107:43]

and see it. I pray thee have me excused. Verse 19.  And another said, I have bought five yolk of oxen,

[107:52]

and I go to prove them. I pray thee have  me excused. Verse 20. And another said,

[107:59]

I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot  come. Chapter 15 verse 1. Then drew near unto

[108:07]

him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.  Verse two. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured,

[108:13]

saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth  with them. Verses three. And he spake this parable

[108:21]

unto them, saying, verse four, What man of you  having a hund sheep, if he lose one of them,

[108:27]

doth not leave the 90 and nine in the wilderness,  and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

[108:34]

Verses 5. And when he hath found it, he layeth it  on his shoulders, rejoicing. Verses 6. And when he

[108:42]

cometh home, he calleth together his friends and  neighbors, saying unto them, "Rejoice with me,

[108:47]

for I have found my sheep which was lost." Verse  7, I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in

[108:55]

heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than  over 90, and nine just persons which need no

[109:01]

repentance. Verse. Either what woman having  10 pieces of silver, if she lose one piece,

[109:09]

doth not light a candle, and sweep the house,  and seek diligently till she find it. Verse 9.

[109:15]

And when she hath found it, she calleth her  friends and her neighbors together, saying,

[109:20]

"Rejoice with me, for I have found the peace which  I had lost." Verse 10. Likewise, I say unto you,

[109:28]

there is joy in the presence of the angels of God  over one sinner that repenteth. Verse 11, And he

[109:33]

said, A certain man had two sons. Verse 12. And  the younger of them said to his father, Father,

[109:39]

give me the portion of goods that fall to me. And  he divided unto them his living. Verse 13. And

[109:46]

not many days after the younger son gathered allto  together and took his journey into a far country,

[109:52]

and there wasted his substance with riotous  living. Verse 14. And when he had spent all,

[109:59]

there arose a mighty famine in that land, and  he began to be in want. Verse 15, and he went

[110:07]

and joined himself to a citizen of that country,  and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

[110:13]

Verse 16. and he would fain if filled his belly  with the husks that the swine did eat and no man

[110:19]

gave unto him. Verse 17. And when he came to  himself, he said, How many hired servants of

[110:26]

my fathers have bread enough and to spare, and I  perish with hunger? Verse 18, I will arise and go

[110:34]

to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have  sinned against heaven and before thee. Verse 19,

[110:41]

and am no more worthy to be called thy son. make  me as one of thy hired servants. Verse 20. And

[110:48]

he arose and came to his father. But when he was  yet a great way off, his father saw him and had

[110:55]

compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed  him. Verse 21. And the son said unto him, Father,

[111:05]

I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight, and  am no more worthy to be called thy son. Verse 22.

But the father said to his servants, "Bring forth  the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring

[111:18]

on his hand and shoes on his feet." Verse 23, "And  bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it, and let

[111:24]

us eat and be merry." Verse 24. For this my son  was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is

[111:32]

found. And they began to be merry. Verse 24. For  this my son was dead and is alive again. He was

[111:40]

lost and is found. and they began to be merry.  Verse 25. Now his elder son was in the field,

[111:48]

and as he came and drew nigh to the house,  he heard music and dancing. Verse 26. And he

[111:55]

called one of the servants, and asked what these  things meant. Verse 27. And he said unto him,

[112:02]

"Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed  the fatted calf, because he hath received him

[112:08]

safe and sound." Verse 28. and he was angry and  would not go in. Therefore came his father out

[112:15]

and intreated him. Verse 29. And he answering  said to his father, "Lo, these many years do I

[112:22]

serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy  commandment, and yet thou never gavest me a kid,

[112:28]

that I might make marry with my friends." Verse  30. But as soon as this thy son was come, which

[112:35]

hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast  killed for him the fatted calf. Verse 31. And he

said unto him, son, thou art ever with me, and all  that I have is thine. Verse 32. It was meat that

[112:52]

we should make Mary, and be glad. For this thy  brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost,

[112:58]

and is found. Chapter 16 verse 1. And he said  also unto his disciples, there was a certain rich

[113:06]

man which had a steward. And the same was accused  unto him that he had wasted his goods. Verse two.

[113:14]

And he called him and said unto him, how is it  that I hear this of thee? Give an account of thy

[113:20]

stewardship, for thou mayest be no longer steward.  Verse three. Then the steward said within himself,

[113:27]

What shall I do? For my Lord taketh away from  me the stewardship. I cannot dig. To beg, I am

[113:33]

ashamed. Verse four, I am resolved what to do,  that when I am put out of the stewardship, they

[113:40]

may receive me into their houses. Verse 5. So he  called every one of his lord<unk>'s debtors unto

[113:46]

him, and said unto the first, "How much owest thou  unto my lord?" Vers 6. And he said, "And hundred

[113:53]

measures of oil." And he said unto him, "Take thy  bill and sit down quickly and write 50." Verse 10,

[114:08]

the Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself.  God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are,

[114:13]

extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as  this publican. Verse 12, I fast twice in the

[114:20]

week. I give tithes of all that I possess. Verse  13. And the publican standing a far off would

[114:33]

me a sinner. Verse 14. I tell you, this man went  down to his house justified rather than the other,

be exalted. Verse 15. And they brought unto him  also infants, that he would touch them. But when

[114:54]

his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. Verse  16, but Jesus called them unto him, and said,

Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid  them not, for of such is the kingdom of God. Verse

[115:10]

7. Then said he to another, and how much owest  thou? And he said, and 100 measures of wheat.

[115:17]

And he said unto him, take thy bill and write  four score. Verses 8. And the Lord commanded

[115:24]

the unjust steward because he had done wisely, for  the children of this world are in their generation

[115:30]

wiser than the children of light. Verse 9. And  I say unto you, make to yourselves friends of

[115:37]

the mamine of unrighteousness, that when ye fail,  they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

[115:44]

[115:51]

unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Verse  11. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the

[115:58]

unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust  the true riches? Verses 12. And if ye have not

[116:05]

been faithful in that which is another man's, who  shall give you that which is your own? Verse 13.

[116:11]

No servant can serve two masters, for either he  will hate the one and love the other, or else

[116:17]

he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye  cannot serve God and mammon. 14 And the Pharisees

[116:25]

also who were covetous heard all these things,  and they derided him. Verses 15. And he said

[116:33]

unto them, "Ye are they which justify yourselves  before men, but God knoweth your hearts, for that

[116:39]

which is highly esteemed among men is abomination  in the sight of God." 16. The law and the prophets

[116:47]

were until John. Since that time the kingdom of  God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

his sores. 22. And it came to pass that the beggar  died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's

[117:42]

bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.  Verse 23. and in hell he lift up his eyes being in

[117:50]

torments and seeth Abraham a far off and Lazarus  in his bosom. Verse 24. And he cried and said,

[117:58]

Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus  that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and

[118:04]

cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.  Verse 25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that

[118:12]

thou in thy lifetime received thy good things,  and likewise Lazarus evil things, but now he

[118:17]

is comforted, and thou art tormented. Verses  26. And beside all this, between us and you,

[118:25]

there is a great gulf fixed, so that they which  would pass from hence to you cannot, neither can

[118:30]

they pass to us that would come from thence. Verse  27. Then he said,"I pray thee therefore, Father,

[118:39]

that thou wouldest ascend him to my father's  house." Verse 28, "For I have five brethren,

that he may testify unto them, as they also come  into this place of torment." Verse 29, Abraham

[118:58]

Father Abraham, but if one went unto them from  the dead, they will repent." Verse 31. And he

[119:05]

said unto him, if they hear not Moses and the  prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though

[119:11]

one rose from the dead. Chapter 17, verse 1. Then  said he unto the disciples, it is impossible, but

[119:20]

that offenses will come, but woe unto him through  whom they come. Verse two. It were better for him

[119:28]

that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he  cast into the sea than that he should offend one

[119:34]

of these little ones. Verse three, take heed to  yourselves. If thy brother trespass against thee,

[119:40]

rebuke him. And if he repent, forgive him. Verse  four, and if he trespass against thee seven times

[119:49]

in a day, and seven times in a day turn again  to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive

[119:55]

him. Verse 5. And the apostle said unto the Lord,  increase our faith. Verse 6. And the Lord said, if

[120:04]

he had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might  say unto this sycamine tree, be thou plucked up by

[120:10]

the root, and be thou planted in the sea, and it  should obey you. Verse 7. But which of you having

[120:18]

a servant plowing or feeding cattle will say unto  him by and by? When he has come from the field, go

[120:24]

and sit down to meet. Verse 8. And will not rather  say unto him, make ready wherewith I may s and

[120:32]

gird thyself, and serve me till I have eaten and  drunken, and afterward thou shalt eat and drink.

[120:39]

Verse 9. Doth he thank that servant because he  did the things that were commanded him? I tr not.

[120:46]

[120:52]

are unprofitable servants. We have done that which  was our duty to do. Verse 11. And it came to pass

[121:00]

as he went to Jerusalem that he passed through  the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Verse 12. And

whole. Verse 20. And when he was demanded of the  Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come,

[122:09]

he answered them and said, "The kingdom of God  cometh not with observation." Verse 21, "Neither

[122:14]

shall they say, Lo here, or lo there, for behold,  the kingdom of God is within you." Verse 22, "And

[122:23]

he said unto the disciples, the days will come  when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the

[122:28]

Son of Man, and ye shall not see it." Verse 23.  And they shall say to you, see here, or see there,

[122:36]

go not after them, nor follow them. Verse 24,  for as the lightning that lightenneth out of the

[122:43]

one part under heaven shineth unto the other part  under heaven, so shall also the Son of man be in

[122:49]

his day. Verse 25, but first must he suffer many  things, and be rejected of this generation. Verse

[122:57]

26. And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it  be also in the days of the Son of Man. Verse 27,

[123:05]

they did eat, they drank, they married wives,  they were given in marriage until the day that

[123:11]

Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and  destroyed them all. Verse 28, likewise also as it

[123:19]

was in the days of Lot. They did eat, they  drank, they bought, they sold, they planted,

[123:25]

they builded. Verse 29. But the same day that Lot  went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone

[123:31]

from heaven and destroyed them all. Verse 30.  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son

[123:38]

of Man is revealed. 31 In that day, he which shall  be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house,

[123:47]

let him not come down to take it away. And he that  is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

[123:54]

32 Remember Lot's wife. 33 Whosoever shall seek  to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever

[124:02]

shall lose his life shall preserve it. 34 I tell  you, in that night there shall be two men in one

[124:09]

bed. The one shall be taken and the other shall be  left. 35 Two women shall be grinding together, the

[124:16]

one shall be taken and the other left. 36 Two men  shall be in the field, the one shall be taken and

[124:24]

the other left. Verse 37. And they answered and  said unto him, Where Lord? And he said unto them,

[124:31]

"Wheroever the body is, thither will the eagles  be gathered together." Chapter 18 verse 1. And

[124:38]

he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men  ought always to pray and not to faint. Verse two,

[124:45]

saying, "There was in a city a judge, which feared  not God, neither regarded man." Verse three,

[124:52]

"And there was a widow in that city, and she came  unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary."

Verse four, and he would not for a while, but  afterward he said within himself, though I fear

[125:04]

not God, nor regard man. Verse 5, Yet because  this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her,

[125:11]

lest by her continual coming she weary me. Verse  6. And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge

[125:18]

saith." Verse 7, "And shall not God avenge his own  elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he

[125:26]

bear long with them?" Verse 8, I tell you that  he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless,

when the Son of Man cometh, shall he find faith  on the earth. Verse 9. And he spake this parable

[125:40]

unto certain which trusted in themselves that  they were righteous and despised others. Verse

[125:45]

[125:58]

extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this  publican. Verse 12. I fast twice in the week.

[126:06]

I give tithes of all that I possess. Verse 13. And  the publican, standing a far off, would not lift

[126:13]

up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smokeote  upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a

[126:19]

sinner. Verse 14. I tell you, this man went  down to his house justified rather than the

[126:25]

other. For everyone that exaltth himself shall  be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall

[126:31]

be exalted. Verse 15. and they brought unto him  also infants, that he would touch them. But when

[126:39]

his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. Verse  16, but Jesus called them unto him, and said,

[126:48]

Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid  them not, for of such is the kingdom of God. Verse

[126:55]

17, verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not  receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall

[127:01]

in no wise enter therein. Verse 18. And a certain  ruler asked him, saying, Good, Master, what shall

[127:08]

I do to inherit eternal life? 19. And Jesus said  unto him, Why callst thou me good? None is good,

save one, that is God. Verse 20. Thou knowest the  commandments. Do not commit adultery. Do not kill.

[127:24]

[127:32]

"All these have I kept from my youth up." Verse  22. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said

[127:38]

unto him, "Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all  that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor,

[127:44]

and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come  follow me." Verse 23. And when he heard this,

[127:50]

he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich. Verse  24. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful,

[127:57]

he said, "How hardly shall they that have riches  enter into the kingdom of God?" Verse 25, "For

[128:03]

it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's  eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom

[128:08]

of God." Verse 26. And they that heard it said,  "Who then can be saved?" Verse 27, "And he said,

the things which are impossible with men are  possible with God." Verse 28. Then Peter said,

[128:24]

"Lo, we have left all and followed thee." Verse  29. And he said unto them, "Verily I say unto you,

[128:32]

there is no man that hath left house or parents  or brethren or wife or children for the kingdom

[128:38]

of God's sake." Verse 30, "Who shall not receive  manifold more in this present time, and in the

[128:43]

world to come life everlasting." Verse 31. Then  he took unto him the twel and said unto them,

[128:57]

Son of Man shall be accomplished." Verse 32,  "For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles,

[129:03]

and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and  spitted on." Verse 33, "And they shall scourge him

[129:09]

and put him to death, and the third day he shall  rise again." Versus 34. And they understood none

[129:16]

of these things. And this saying was hid from  them, neither knew they the things which were

[129:21]

spoken. Verse 35. And it came to pass that as he  was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man

[129:29]

sat by the wayside begging. V 36. And hearing  the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

[129:37]

V 37. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth  passeth by. Vas 38. and he cried, saying, Jesus,

[129:45]

thou son of David, have mercy on me. Verse  39, and they which went before rebuked him,

[129:51]

that he should hold his peace. But he cried so  much the more, thou son of David, have mercy on

[129:56]

me. Verse 40, and Jesus stood, and commanded him  to be brought unto him. And when he was come near,

[130:04]

he asked him, verses 41, saying, What wil thou  that I shall do unto thee? And he said, "Lord,

[130:11]

that I may receive my sight." Verse 42. And Jesus  said unto him, "Receive thy sight, thy faith hath

[130:19]

saved thee." Verse 43. And immediately  he received his sight, and followed him,

[130:25]

glorifying God. And all the people, and they saw  it gave praise unto God. Chapter 19:1. And Jesus

[130:33]

entered and passed through Jericho. This is  2. And behold, there was a man named Zakius,

[130:39]

which was the chief among the publicans, and  he was rich. PS3, And he sought to see Jesus,

[130:45]

who he was, and could not for the press, because  he was little of stature. Four, and he ran before,

[130:52]

and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him,  for he was to pass that way. Five. And when Jesus

[130:59]

came to the place, he looked up and saw him and  said unto him, Zakius, make haste, and come down,

[131:06]

for today I must abide at thy house. Verses six,  and he made haste and came down and received him

[131:14]

joyfully. Verse 7, and when they saw it, they  all murmured, saying that he was gone to be guest

[131:21]

with a man that is a sinner. Verse 8. And Zakius  stood and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the

[131:29]

half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have  taken anything from any man by false accusation, I

[131:35]

restore him four-fold. 9. And Jesus said unto him,  "This day is salvation come to this house, for so

[131:44]

much as he also is a son of Abraham." Verse 10,  "For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save

[131:50]

that which was lost." Verse 11. And as they heard  these things, he added and spake a parable because

[131:58]

he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought  that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

[132:04]

Verse 12, he said, "Therefore, a certain nobleman  went into a far country to receive for himself a

[132:10]

kingdom, and to return." Verse 13, "And he called  his 10 servants, and delivered them£10, and said

[132:18]

unto them, Occupy till I come." Verse 14, but his  citizens hated him and sent a message after him,

[132:26]

saying, "We will not have this man to reign over  us." Verse 15, "And it came to pass that when he

[132:34]

was returned, having received the kingdom, then he  commanded these servants to be called unto him to

[132:38]

whom he had given the money, that he might know  how much every man had gained by trading." Verse

[132:44]

16, then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound  hath gained£10. Verse 17. And he said unto him,

[132:52]

Well, thou good servant, because thou hast been  faithful in a very little, have thou authority

[132:57]

over 10 cities. Verse 18. And the second came,  saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained5. Verse 19.

[133:06]

And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over  five cities. Verse 20. And another came, saying,

[133:13]

Lord, behold, here is thy pound which I have kept  laid up in a napkin. Verses 21. For I feared thee,

[133:20]

because thou art an austere man. Thou takest  up that thou ladest not down, and reapest that

[133:26]

thou did not sow. Verses 22. And he saith unto  him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee,

[133:34]

thou wicked servant. Thou kneest that I was an  austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and

[133:40]

reaping that I did not sow. Verses 23. Wherefore  then gavest not thou my money into the bank,

[133:46]

that at my coming I might have required mine own  with usury. Verses 24. And he said unto them that

[133:53]

stood by, take from him the pound, and give it to  him that hath 10b. Verses 25. And they said unto

[134:00]

him, Lord, he hath 10b. Verses 26, for I say unto  you, that unto everyone which hath shall be given,

[134:08]

and from him that hath not, even that  he hath shall be taken away from him.

[134:14]

27 But those mine enemies which would not that I  should reign over them bring hither and slay them

[134:20]

before me. 28 And when he had thus spoken, he went  before ascending up to Jerusalem. Verse 29. And it

[134:31]

came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethage and  Bethany, at the mount called the Mount of Olives,

[134:37]

he sent two of his disciples, 30, saying, Go  ye into the village over against you. In the

[134:44]

which at your entering, ye shall find a colt  tied, whereon yet never man sat. Loose him,

[134:50]

and bring him hither. Verse 31. And if any man ask  you, why do ye loose him? Thus shall ye say unto

[134:58]

him, because the Lord hath need of him. Verse  32. And they that were sent went their way,

[135:04]

and found even as he had said unto them.  Verse 33. And as they were loosing the colt,

[135:11]

the owners thereof said unto them, I loose ye the  colt. 34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

[135:19]

35 And they brought him to Jesus, and they cast  their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus

[135:26]

thereon. 36 And as he went, they spread their  clothes in the way. 37 And when he was come nigh,

[135:35]

even now at the descent of the Mount of Olives,  the whole multitude of the disciples began to

[135:40]

rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all  the mighty works that they had seen. 38 saying,

[135:46]

"Blessed be the king that cometh in the name  of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory in the

[135:51]

highest." 39 And some of the Pharisees from among  the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy

[135:59]

disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them,  I tell you that if these should hold their peace,

[136:05]

the stones would immediately cry out. 41 And  when he was come near, he beheld the city and

[136:13]

wept over it. 42 saying, "If thou hast known, even  thou, at least in this thy day, the things which

[136:21]

belong unto thy peace, but now they are hid from  thine eyes." 43 For the days shall come upon thee,

[136:29]

that thine enemies shall cast a trench about  thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in

[136:35]

on every side. Verse 44, and shall lay thee even  with the ground, and thy children within thee.

[136:41]

and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon  another, because thou kneest not the time of thy

[136:47]

visitation. Verse 45. And he went into the temple,  and began to cast out them that sold therein,

[136:55]

and them that bought. Verse 46, saying unto them,  It is written, My house is the house of prayer,

[137:02]

but ye have made it a den of thieves. Verse  47, And he taught daily in the temple. But the

[137:09]

chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the  people sought to destroy him. Verse 48. And could

[137:15]

not find what they might do, for all the people  were very attentive to hear him. Chapter 20 verse

[137:22]

1. And it came to pass that on one of those days  as he taught the people in the temple and preached

[137:29]

the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes  came upon him with the elders. Verse two, and

[137:35]

spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority  doest thou these things? Or who is he that gave

[137:41]

thee this authority? Verse three, and he answered  and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing,

[137:47]

and answer me. Verse 4, the baptism of John,  was it from heaven or of men? Verse 5. And they

[137:57]

reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say  from heaven, he will say, Why then believe ye him

[138:02]

not? Verse 6, but and if we say of men, all the  people will stone us, for they be persuaded that

[138:10]

John was a prophet. Verse 7, and they answered  that they could not tell whence it was. Verse 8,

[138:18]

and Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by  what authority I do these things. Verse nine. Then

[138:26]

began he to speak to the people this parable. A  certain man planted a vineyard and led it forth

[138:32]

to husband men and went into a far country for  a long time. Verse 10. And at the season he sent

[138:40]

a servant to the husband men that they should  give him of the fruit of the vineyard. But the

[138:45]

husband men beat him and sent him away empty. 11  and again he sent another servant and they beat

[138:52]

him also and intreated him shamefully and sent  him away empty. Verses 12 and again he sent a

[138:59]

third and they wounded him also and cast him out.  13 Then said the Lord of the vineyard, what shall

[139:07]

I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be they  will reverence him when they see him. Verse 14.

[139:15]

But when the husband men saw him, they reasoned  among themselves, saying, "This is the heir. Come,

[139:21]

let us kill him, that the inheritance may be  ours." 15 So they cast him out of the vineyard,

[139:28]

and killed him. What therefore shall the Lord of  the vineyard do unto them? 16 He shall come and

[139:35]

destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the  vineyard to others. And when they heard it,

[139:39]

they said, God forbid. Verses 17. And he beheld  them and said, "What is this then that is written,

[139:46]

the stone which the builders rejected, the same  has become the head of the corner?" Verses 18,

[139:52]

"Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall  be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall,

[139:57]

it will grind him to powder." Verse 19, "And the  chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought

[140:04]

to lay hands on him, and they feared the people,  for they perceived that he had spoken this parable

[140:09]

against them." Verse 20. And they watched him, and  sent forth spies, which should feain themselves

[140:17]

just men, that they might take hold of his words,  that so they might deliver him unto the power and

[140:22]

authority of the governor. Verse 21. And they  asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou

[140:29]

sayest and teachest rightly, neither except  thou the person of any, but teachest the way

[140:35]

of God truly. Verse 22. Is it lawful for us to  give tribute unto Caesar or no? Verse 23. But

[140:43]

he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them,  Why tempt ye me? 24. Show me a penny. Whose image

[140:51]

and superscription hath it? They answered and  said, Caesars's. Verse 25. And he said unto them,

[140:58]

Render therefore unto Caesar the things which  be Caesars, and unto God the things which be

[141:02]

Gods. Verses 26. and they could not take hold of  his words before the people and they marveled at

[141:10]

his answer and held their peace. Verses 27. Then  came to him certain of the Sadducees which deny

[141:17]

that there is any resurrection. And they asked  him 28, saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us,

[141:25]

if any man's brother die having a wife, and he die  without children, that his brother should take his

[141:31]

wife and raise up seed unto his brother. Verse  29, there were therefore seven brethren, and the

[141:39]

first took a wife, and died without children.  Verses 30, and the second took her to wife,

[141:45]

and he died childless. Verses 31 and the third  took her and in like manner the seven also and

[141:52]

they left no children and died. Verses 32 Last  of all the woman died also. VS33 Therefore in

[142:01]

the resurrection whose wife of them is she? For  seven had her to wife. VS34 And Jesus answering

[142:09]

said unto them, the children of this world  marry and are given in marriage. V 35. But

[142:15]

they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain  that world and the resurrection from the dead.

[142:20]

Neither marry nor are given in marriage. Verse  36. Neither can they die anymore, for they are

[142:27]

equal unto the angels and are the children of God,  being the children of the resurrection. Verse 37.

[142:35]

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed  at the bush when he calleth the Lord the God

[142:40]

of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of  Jacob. Verse 38, for he is not a God of the dead,

[142:48]

but of the living, for all live unto him. Verse  39. Then certain of the scribes answering said,

[142:55]

Master, thou hast well said. Verse 40. And after  that they dst not ask him any question at all.

[143:02]

Verse 41. And he said unto them, "How say they  that Christ is David's son." Verse 42. And David

[143:10]

himself saith in the book of Psalms, "The Lord  said unto my Lord, sit thou on my right hand."

[143:15]

Verse 43. Till I make thine enemies thy foottool.  Verse 44. David therefore calleth him Lord. How is

[143:24]

he then his son? Verse 45. Then in the audience of  all the people he said unto his disciples. Verse

[143:32]

46. Beware of the scribes which desire to walk in  long robes and love greetings in the markets and

[143:39]

the highest seats in the synagogues and the chief  rooms at feasts. Verse 47. Which devour widows

[143:47]

houses and for a show make long prayers. The same  shall receive greater damnation. Chapter 21:1. And

[143:55]

he looked up and saw the rich men casting their  gifts into the treasury. Verse two, and he saw

[144:02]

also a certain poor widow casting in the other two  might. Verse three, and he said, "Of a truth I say

[144:09]

unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more  than they all." Verse four, for all these have

[144:16]

of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of  God, but she of her penury hath cast in all the

[144:21]

living that she had. Verse 5. And as some spake of  the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones

[144:29]

and gifts, he said, "Verse 6, As for these things,  which ye behold, the days will come in the which

[144:36]

there shall not be left one stone upon another, it  shall not be thrown down." VS7 And they asked him,

[144:43]

saying, "Master, but when shall these things be?  And what sign will there be when these things

[144:48]

shall come to pass?" V8 and he said, "Take heed  that ye be not deceived, for many shall come in

[144:56]

my name, saying, I am Christ, and the time draweth  near. Go ye not therefore after them." Verse 9,

[145:05]

"But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions,  be not terrified, for these things must first come

[145:11]

to pass, but the end is not by and by." Verse 10.  Then said he unto them, "Nation shall rise against

[145:19]

nation, and kingdom against kingdom." Verse 11,  "And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places,

[145:26]

and famines, and pestilences, and fearful sights,  and great signs shall there be from heaven." Verse

[145:33]

12. But before all these, they shall lay their  hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up

[145:39]

to the synagogues and into prisons, being brought  before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Verse

[145:47]

13, and it shall turn to you for a testimony.  Verses 14, settle it therefore in your hearts,

[145:55]

not to meditate before what ye shall answer.  Verse 7, and they asked him, saying, Master,

[146:00]

but when shall these things be? And what sign will  there be when these things shall come to pass?

[146:05]

Verse 8. And he said, "Take heed that ye be not  deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying,

[146:11]

I am Christ, and the time drawth near. Go ye not  therefore after them." Verse 9, "But when ye shall

[146:19]

hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified,  for these things must first come to pass, but

[146:25]

the end is not by and by." Verses 10. Then said  he unto them, "Nation shall rise against nation,

[146:34]

and kingdom against kingdom." Verses 11. And  great earthquakes shall be in diverse places,

[146:41]

and famines, and pestilences, and fearful sights,  and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But

[146:48]

before all these, they shall lay their hands  on you, and persecute you, delivering you up

[146:53]

to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought  before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Verse

[147:00]

13. And it shall turn to you for a testimony.  Verse 14. Settle it therefore in your hearts,

[147:08]

not to meditate before what ye shall answer. Verse  24. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword,

[147:15]

and shall be led away captive into all nations.  And Jerusalem shall be trotten down of the

[147:20]

Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be  fulfilled. Verse 25. And there shall be signs in

[147:28]

the sun and in the moon and in the stars and upon  the earth distress of nations with perplexity,

[147:34]

the sea and the waves roaring. Verses 26. Men's  hearts failing them for fear and for looking after

[147:41]

those things which are coming on the earth, for  the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Verses 27,

[147:48]

and then shall they see the son of man coming in  a cloud with power and great glory. Verses 28.

[147:55]

And when these things begin to come to pass,  then look up and lift up your heads, for your

[148:00]

redemption draweth nigh. 29 And he spake to them  a parable. Behold the fig tree and all the trees.

[148:08]

30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of  your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

[148:16]

31 So likewise ye, when you see these things  come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God

[148:22]

is nigh at hand. Verse 32, verily I say unto you,  this generation shall not pass away till all be

[148:30]

fulfilled. Verse 33, heaven and earth shall pass  away, but my words shall not pass away. verses

[148:38]

[148:44]

[149:06]

shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of  Man. Verse 37. And in the daytime he was teaching

in the temple and at night he went out and abodeed  in the mount that is called the Mount of Olives.

[149:20]

Verses 38. And all the people came early in the  morning to him in the temple for to hear him.

[149:27]

him unto them. Verses 5. And they were glad and  covenanted to give him money. Six. And he promised

[150:04]

and sought opportunity to betray him unto them  in the absence of the multitude. V 7 Then came

[150:18]

lacked ye anything, and they said nothing. 36 Then  said he unto them, But now he that hath a purse,

[154:07]

let him take it, and likewise his script. and he  that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and

[154:13]

[159:04]

unto Pilate. Verse 2. And they began to accuse  him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the

[159:12]

nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar,  saying that he himself is Christ a king. Verse

[159:18]

three. And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the  king of the Jews? And he answered him and said,

[159:24]

"Thou sayest it." Four. Then said Pilate to the  chief priests and to the people, "I find no fault

[159:31]

in this man." Verse 5. And they were the more  fierce, saying, "He stirth up the people, teaching

[159:38]

throughout all jury, beginning from Galilee to  this place." Six. When Pilate heard of Galilee,

he asked whether the man were a Galilean. Seven.  And as soon as he knew that he belonged under

[159:51]

Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who  himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. 8

[159:59]

[160:06]

because he had heard many things of him, and he  hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. Verse

[160:12]

9. Then he questioned with him in many words, but  he answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests

[160:20]

and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. 11  And Herod with his men of war set him at not, and

[160:27]

mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe,  and sent him again to Pilate. 12 And the same day

[160:35]

Pilate and Herod were made friends together, for  before they were at enmity between themselves.

[160:42]

13 And Pilate, when he had called together the  chief priests and the rulers and the people.

[160:47]

14 said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto  me as one that pervertth the people, and behold,

[160:53]

I having examined him before you, have found no  fault in this man touching those things whereof

[160:58]

ye accuse him. No, nor yet Herod, for I sent you  to him, and lo, nothing worthy of death is done

[161:05]

unto him. 16 I will therefore chastise him and  release him. 17 For of necessity he must release

[161:13]

one unto them at the feast. 18 And they cried  out all at once, saying, "Away with this man,

[161:19]

and release unto us Barabus." Verse 19. Who for a  certain sedition made in the city, and for murder,

[161:26]

was cast into prison. 20 Pilate therefore willing  to release Jesus, spake again to them. 21 But they

[161:34]

cried, saying, Crucify him. Crucify him. 22 And he  said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath

[161:43]

he done? I have found no cause of death in him.  I will therefore chastise him and let him go. 23

[161:51]

And they were instant with loud voices, requiring  that he might be crucified, and the voices of them

[161:57]

and of the chief priests prevailed. 24 And Pilate  gave sentence that it should be as they required.

[162:06]

25 And he released unto them him that for sedition  and murder was cast into prison, whom they had

[162:13]

desired, but he delivered Jesus to their will. 26  And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one

[162:22]

Simon, a Serenian, coming out of the country, and  on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it

[162:28]

after Jesus. Verse 27. And there followed him  a great company of people of women, which also

[162:35]

bewailed and lamented him. Verse 28. But Jesus  turning unto them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem,

[162:42]

weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and  for your children." 29 For behold, the days

[162:49]

are coming in the which they shall say, "Blessed  are the barren, and the wombs that never bear,

[162:54]

and the paps which never gave suck." 30 Then shall  they begin to say to the mountains, "Fall on us,

[163:02]

and to the hills, cover us." 31 For if they do  these things in a green tree, what shall be done

[163:08]

in the dry? 32 And there were also two other  malifactors led with him to be put to death.

[163:17]

33 And when they were come to the place which is  called Calvary, there they crucified him and the

[163:23]

malifactors, one on the right hand and the other  on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, "Father, forgive

[163:31]

them, for they know not what they do, and they  parted his raignment and cast lots." Verse 35. And

[163:37]

the people stood beholding, and the rulers also  with them derided him, saying, He saved others.

[163:43]

Let him save himself if he be Christ, the chosen  of God. Verse 36. And the soldiers also mocked

[163:49]

him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar. 37.  And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save

[163:55]

thyself. 38 And a superscription also was written  over him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew,

[164:02]

this is the king of the Jews. 39 And one of the  malifactors which were hanged railed on him,

[164:09]

saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.  40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying,

[164:16]

Dust not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the  same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for

[164:23]

we receive the due reward of our deeds, but this  man hath done nothing a miss. 42 And he said unto

[164:30]

Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy  kingdom. Verse 43. And Jesus said unto him, verily

[164:38]

I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in  paradise. 44 And it was about the sixth hour,

[164:45]

and there was a darkness over all the earth until  the 9th hour. Verses 45 And the sun was darkened,

[164:53]

and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.  46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice,

[164:59]

he said, "Father, into thy hands I commend  my spirit." And having said thus, he gave up

[165:05]

the ghost. Verse 47. Now when the centurion  saw what was done, he glorified God, saying,

[165:12]

certainly this was a righteous man. Verse 48. And  all the people that came together to that site,

[165:18]

beholding the things which were done, smoked  their breasts, and returned. Verse 49. And all

[165:26]

his acquaintance and the women that followed him  from Galilee stood aar off beholding these things.

[165:33]

Verse 50. And behold, there was a man named  Joseph, a counselor, and he was a good man and

[165:40]

a just. Verse 51. The same had not consented to  the council and deed of them. He was of Arythea,

[165:46]

a city of the Jews, who also himself waited for  the kingdom of God. Verse 52, this man went unto

[165:54]

Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. Verse 53.  And he took it down and wrapped it in linen,

[166:00]

and laid it in a sephiler that was heuned in  stone, wherein never man before was laid. Verse

[166:06]

54. And that day was the preparation, and the  Sabbath drew on. Verse 55. And the women also,

[166:14]

which came with him from Galilee, followed  after, and beheld the sephiler, and how his

[166:19]

body was laid. Verse 56. And they returned and  prepared spices and ointments and rested the

[166:25]

Sabbath day according to the commandment. Chapter  24, the last chapter of the Gospel of Luke vers 1.

[166:34]

Now upon the first day of the week, very early  in the morning, they came unto the sephiler,

[166:39]

bringing the spices which they had prepared, and  certain others with them. Verse two, and they

[166:45]

found the stone rolled away from the sephilcher.  Verse three, and they entered in and found not the

[166:52]

body of the Lord Jesus. Verse four, and it came  to pass as they were much perplexed thereabout,

[166:59]

behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.  Verse 5, and as they were afraid, and bowed down

[167:06]

their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why  seek ye the living among the dead? Verse 6, he is

[167:14]

not here, but is risen. Remember how he spake unto  you when he was yet in Galilee. Verse 7, saying,

[167:21]

"The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands  of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third

[167:27]

day rise again." Verse 8, "And they remembered his  words." Verse 9. And returned from the sephiler,

[167:35]

and told all these things unto the 11, and to all  the rest. 10. It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna,

[167:43]

and Mary the mother of James, and other women that  were with them, which told these things unto the

[167:49]

apostles. Verse 11. And their words seemed to them  as idle tales, and they believed them not. Verse

[167:56]

12. Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sephiler,  and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes

[168:03]

laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in  himself at that which was come to pass. Verse

[168:10]

13. And behold, two of them went that same day to  a village called Emmas, which was from Jerusalem

[168:18]

about three score furongs. Verse 14. And they  talked together of all these things which had

[168:24]

happened. Verse 15. And it came to pass that  while they communed together and reasoned,

[168:30]

Jesus himself drew near and went with them. Verse  16. But their eyes were holden that they should

[168:36]

not know him. Verse 17. And he said unto them,  "What manner of communications are these that ye

[168:43]

have one to another as ye walk and are sad?" Verse  18. And the one of them whose name was Cleopass

[168:50]

answering said unto him, "Art thou only a stranger  in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which

[168:55]

are come to pass there in these days?" 19 And  he said unto them, "What things?" And they said

[169:03]

unto him concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a  prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all

[169:09]

the people. Verse 20. And how the chief priests  and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to

[169:16]

death and have crucified him. Verse 21. But we  trusted that it had been he which should have

[169:23]

redeemed Israel. And beside all this, today is the  third day since these things were done. Verse 22.

[169:30]

Ya. And certain women also of our company made us  astonished which were early at the sephiler. Verse

[169:36]

23. And when they found not his body, they came,  saying that they had also seen a vision of angels,

[169:44]

which said that he was alive. Verse 24. And  certain of them which were with us went to

[169:50]

the seeler, and found it even so, as the women had  said, but him they saw not. Verse 25. Then he said

[169:58]

unto them, "Oh fools, and slow of heart to believe  all that the prophets have spoken." Verse 26,

"Ought not Christ to have suffered these things,  and to enter into his glory?" Verse 27. And

[170:12]

beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he  expounded unto them in all the scriptures

[170:17]

the things concerning himself. Verse 28. And they  drew nigh unto the village whetherither they went,

[170:25]

and he made as though he would have gone further.  Verse 29. But they constrained him, saying, Abide

with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is  far spent. And he went into tarry with them. Verse

30. And it came to pass as he sat at meat with  them, he took bread, and blessed it and break,

[170:45]

and gave to them. Verse 31. and their eyes were  opened, and they knew him, and he vanished out

[170:52]

of their sight. 32 And they said one to another,  "Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked

[171:00]

with us by the way, and while he opened to us the  scriptures?" 33 And they rose up the same hour,

[171:07]

and returned to Jerusalem, and found the 11  gathered together, and them that were with them.

[171:13]

34 saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and hath  appeared to Simon." 35 And they told what things

[171:20]

were done in the way, and how he was known of them  in breaking of bread. 36 And as they thus spake,

[171:27]

Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and  saith unto them, Peace be unto you. Verse 37,

[171:34]

But they were terrified, and afrighted, and  supposed that they had seen a spirit. Verse 38.

[171:41]

And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And  why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Verse 39.

[171:47]

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself,  handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and

[171:54]

bones as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus  spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.

[172:02]

41 And while they yet believed not for joy and  wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any

[172:09]

meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled  fish and of an honey ancomic. 43 And he took

[172:17]

it and did eat before them. 44 And he said unto  them, "These are the words which I spake unto you

[172:26]

while I was yet with you, that all things must be  fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses,

[172:31]

and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning  me." Verse 45. Then opened he their understanding,

[172:40]

that they might understand the scriptures.  46 and said unto them, "Thus it is written,

[172:45]

and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to  rise from the dead the third day." Verse 47,

"And that repentance and remission of sins  should be preached in his name among all nations,

[172:56]

beginning at Jerusalem." Verse 48, "And ye are  witnesses of these things." Verse 49, "And behold,

I send the promise of my father upon you, but ter  ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued
