Introduction
In today’s digital art landscape, the fusion of traditional painting techniques and advanced AI tools like Photoshop has opened a plethora of creativity for artists. In this article, I will guide you through my exciting journey of creating a stunning dragon digital painting in just 70 minutes. We will explore the tools I used, my creative process, and the techniques that led to a captivating fantasy artwork.
Overview of the Process
My artistic pursuit began spontaneously as I decided to document my creative process without any prior planning. The key elements that shaped my digital painting include:
- Using Stable Diffusion with the Juggernaut XL Version 9 model.
- Focusing on color and composition.
- Employing inpainting techniques for detail enhancement.
- Utilizing Photoshop’s liquefy feature for adjustments.
- Ultimately bringing the artwork to life through animation.
Setting Up for the Digital Painting
Choosing the Right Tools
For this digital painting, I employed the following tools:
- Stable Diffusion Forge UI: An intuitive user interface that streamlined my workflow.
- Photoshop: A powerful software for refining and enhancing my artwork.
- DP Animation Maker: To add dynamic elements to the finished piece.
Concept and Planning
The idea was to paint a dragon set within a cave, capturing a fantasy theme that resonates with many art enthusiasts. I brainstormed various prompts and experimented with multiple iterations until I found one that kindled my imagination. The focus was placed on:
- Vibrant and captivating colors.
- A dynamic composition that draws the viewer in.
Creating the Dragon Image
Generating the Initial Artwork
Upon finalizing the concept, I jumped into the creation phase, which involved:
- Speeding Up the Process: I recorded my painting session and condensed it for easier viewing.
- AI Assistance: Utilizing AI to generate initial concepts based on my prompt.
- Iterative Experimentation: Testing different iterations to hone in on the most appealing output.
Inpainting for Enhanced Detail
Once I achieved a satisfactory base image, I utilized the inpainting feature to:
- Add new elements: Integrate more intricate fantasy elements such as flowers that complement the dragon.
- Enhance details: Focus on specific areas to ensure each element holds its own within the composition.
This selection method allowed for meticulous adjustments that added depth to the artwork.
Refinements in Photoshop
After confirming the dragon illustration, I transferred the image to Photoshop for further enhancements:
- Liquefy Tool Usage: This vital tool enabled adjustments such as changing proportions and enhancing thickness wherever necessary.
- Image Selection and Masking: I used selection tools to cut out portions of the artwork and engaged in blending to create a cohesive final result:
- Selecting parts from the original image.
- Pasting and blending with a soft brush for smooth transitions.
Finalizing the Dragon Painting
Reviewing the Artwork
Upon completing the adjustments, I reviewed the image, ensuring:
- That the colors harmonize.
- The dragon’s physique is well-proportioned.
Animation of the Final Product
To add the finishing touch to my artwork, I employed DP Animation Maker. This software allowed me to breathe life into the painting, making it more appealing to viewers and giving it an animated quality that enhances its charm.
Conclusion
Creating a fantasy-themed dragon painting in a digital environment combines the best of traditional artistry and modern technology. The process, as I highlighted, involves experimentation, iterative refinement, and the enhancement of details — all aimed at bringing an imaginative concept into reality.

today I recorded myself creating a dragon digital painting using Ai and Photoshop the whole process took about
70 minutes I didn't plan anything I just hit record and showed you how I tackled this concept I'll speed up the video so
it's condensed into just a few minutes I'm using the stable diffusion Forge UI with the Juggernaut XL Version 9 model
the idea I had in mind was to create a digital painting of a dragon in a cave something fantasy themed I experimented
with different prompts until I found one that inspired me focusing on nice colors and composition to bring the concept to
life once I have an image um I can send it to inpaint and start adding more details in the things I need I just had
some fun playing around trying different things to see what could work I'm exploring different ideas until I find
something I like for the inpainting part you can add new elements but you can also enhance the the details in specific
parts of the illustration like I'm doing here with the fantasy flowers since the in paint is set to
only masked I can achieve better details on the part I selected with the brush then I simply drag the new image onto in
paint again and can select a new area that I want to [Music]
improve [Music] [Music]
in Photoshop I'm using liquefy to adjust shapes this method allows me to make things appear thicker or thinner move
arms uh enlarge heads and perform all kinds of adjustments liquefy is faster uh but I can also use warp or like
digital painting um for similar [Music] effects
[Music] [Music] [Music]
[Music] [Music] [Music]
[Music] [Music] [Music]
[Music] [Music] what I'm doing here is instead of using
in paint I'm selecting ing parts from my image with the selection tool and pasting them onto image to image to
enhance them this way I get better versions of that portion then in Photoshop I drag the same image making
sure it's the same size and use a soft brush to mask out the edges after that I blend it with the initial image this
gives me more control over the final result [Music]
this is how the final 4K image looks and now it's time to animate it a little I'm using software called DP animation
[Music] maker [Music]
[Music] that's all for today let me know in the comments if you'd like to see more
videos like this or if I should stick to um just uh technical tutorials explaining tools thanks for watching
don't forget to hit that like button and I'll see you soon with a new video have a great
