CapCut Mastery: Become a Professional Video Editor in Hours

welcome to cap cut Mastery in this course you're going to learn how to edit in cap cut my goal for this course is to

in this course hopefully you're going to learn cap cut my goal for this course is to show you everything you could

possibly need in order to get in cap cut successfully right what you're going to learn by the end of this course is

you're obviously going to know how to download and configure capcut what which is there is not much to know but we're

just going to have to get through these videos as they are important uh we are then going to learn the basics of cap

cut I'm literally going to go over every single thing in the interface and show you everything there is to show then I'm

going to show you some editing tricks to basically it's only going to be a few tricks but by understanding them you

will kind of understand the fundamentals of editing as a whole so it's going to be very useful I hope and then I am

going to so those few first chapters are rather Theory and and then the action is going to start in these two chapters

where in this one I'm going to recreate a live video which is going to be us recreating this video from my channel

right here this one with Clay AI so it done fully with me with no AI characters it'll be a perfect illustration of how

to edit life footage an interesting case I saw like last night I when I Was preparing for this course I was thinking

what can I show for short form editing then I went on Instagram searching for you know what to recreate and then I saw

an ad of this business right like a short form agency whatever and I saw their advertisement and I really liked

it and the fact that they're paying for this video to be seen for by people is telling me that it's probably doing well

and they used very crucial Ting tricks in there so that's what we're going to recreate now in this first video you're

watching right now let's just talk more about the actual course what exactly we will cover in this course cap cut NO2

Pro I mean we're really going to start from literally installing capcut to producing a video like I produced here

with this like I literally recreate this particular video we will just literally cover every single aspect of cap cut

like we'll go over interface all the effects I don't want to spoil it right now but I'll try to share with you a lot

of knowledge and in these three courses also it's going to be needed for you to First complete this course because those

three are kind of going to be useless for you moving forward if you don't know how to edit now for all of you who are

experienced or already have edited some videos please be patient when watching this because you should also understand

that there's going to be people who have never even opened cap cut they don't know about cap cut right and there's

going to be some more advanced people watching this so I'll really try to this make it useful for everybody just watch

videos entirely try to find some value in them going into this course I assume you have purchased capcut Pro it is just

essential and for $8 a month compared to the competitors prices it is an amazing price for what we get in return also

throughout the course I'll be providing assets that I'll be using in the tutorials so you can follow along but do

not use them yourself obviously I cannot stop you from using them but I'm just looking out because if you do use them

in your own videos you see I'll be getting them from story blocks it's a Boll provider so I have the license the

right to use their content and so when I use it on my own videos they use a detecting system you know they verify I

have the right to use the content and so they do not issue the copyright claims if you do not have that right or unless

you're are subscribed to story blocks which you don't have to subscribe but I'm just saying you know you you can use

their content so more of that in the resource I'll mention free Boll resources but yeah just so you know do

not just blly put the assets I'll provide you in your videos because that might just not end up well for you so

just a quick rundown of the resources needed for editing and that you need as an editor regardless so you always need

a good sound provider sound effects provider music provider again I use epidemic sound for this Purpose with my

link you can try them out for a week uh for free and decide if you like them or not now even if not epidemic sound you

want to use royalty-free Music you want to have the right to use your music same goes for boll just like I mentioned in

the previous lesson when you sign up for both of these um you connect your accounts directly on website so you can

never ever get a copyright claim and don't even worry about it ever just in case you you don't have viq yet also do

consider using it if you want to try it for $1 for just 30 days the reason I even have VI IQ here is because after

you create a video you need to optimize the video and that's just the best way to do it right so far as Boll this is

the one I'm using there's many Alternatives there's invado elements if you want to use a paid one as well or

just just Google Boll providers there's a lot of them and the story blocks is kind of pricey though that's why I'm

saying it that's why I'm mentioning Alternatives but yeah that's what I pixabay is a free alternative be careful

with using it first of all it's kind of limited on options there's not that many good assets to use from here this free

stuff is I don't know like imagine if the owner of this picture decides to take it back from Pixel Bay one day and

then you receive a copyright claim chances are slim to none but it is a possibility Boll provider with that

gives you a license you can always dispute the copyright Claim by um having the license codes to use or the

commercial licenses so this one a website you have in your bookmarks is SS YouTube Just downloader from YouTube and

then this is canva obviously it has a lot of elements a lot of uh pictures with no backgrounds a great way to

acquire assets and obviously most definitely you need the cap Cut Pro so just go to cap cut.com and download this

software so I clicked on create a new project and this is naturally what you're going to see when you create a

new project so I guess in this video uh it's like if you're experienced you don't really have to watch this video

I'll save you some time but this is a video for people who just install like who are just watching me install cap and

have no idea what's going on right if you have slightest idea if you have edited a single video in your life you

can probably skip this video just don't want to waste your time right so but yeah for absolute beginners let's go so

this is interface this is what you're going to see when you start capcut as I said so the first thing you can do is

navigate to the top and uh have your projects named somehow so I guess test whatever somehow have everything

organized so on the right side you can always go to mod I and make sure that this free layer option is turned on

always just just do just check it trust me on that one and uh yeah make sure your settings are aligned with mine they

should be aligned with mine if you watched the settings video and you follow along now let's continue I guess

to the media tab this is where we import our media right so to do that we just click on this thing and boom we have our

M video we can drag it on the timel light like timeline like this but we're gonna cover more of that in the future

videos so yeah and this is the AI generator tab um kind of useless to be honest with you I never ever generate

images here I just use Leonardo AI this is spaces this tab wherever uh you want to store on capcut cloud you can store

it here kind of useless as well like I never use it um I just have some random videos I don't I I don't even know where

they came from uh but yeah guess I was trying to edit some shorts here oh yeah I remember actually those were some of

literally the First videos I ever created on YouTube so this is how I started by creating these uh Avatar

videos so again absolutely useless don't even B don't even worry about it this is the library section again if you're

editing YouTube videos this is also going to be completely useless to you but if you're creating Tik Tok videos

and Instagram videos this could be useful so it has a lot of green screen effects for example uh so yeah if but if

you're editing uh Tik Tok videos or Instagram videos this section could be really useful to you because it has a

lot of stuff and Tik Tok and Instagram are not super strict on copyright They Don't Really Care as much so you know

you can use a lot of that footage if you find it useful but the reason I say do not use it on YouTube is because it's

all somehow affiliated with Tik Tok like you know Tik Tok and cap same company essentially so I wouldn't risk using it

on YouTube you never know who owns this piece of footage right you want to be using story blocks or inv elements for

example like on a paid subscription so you know who is the owner of the particular piece of content please do

not neglect this advice ever use the footage you have the legal rights to use like what I'm recording right now is my

footage obviously Boll I only use story blocks or canva or AI generated footage I use nothing else in my videos and I

will never get a copyright strike that way so take this advice from me last thing here is brand assets you can

create presets here I don't really create presets but you could and yeah so let's move on with audio same situation

as with footage so you can use all this audio on Tik Tok and Instagram reals but you should not use it on YouTube because

you also don't know who owns this music and you're very likely to get a copyright claim so not a good experience

not a good thing to have so yeah for all the music you can use epidemic sound for music you can use epidemic sound I'm

going to link it below so just uh you always know what like what you're actually using you have the license to

use it just so I mention it it has all kinds of music again for Tik Tok purposes it's perfect it has the sound

effects so click around text so this is where you just add like random pieces of text or this is where you create autoc

captions again this AI generated don't even bother stickers extremely useful tab you might recognize those two from

my videos on my main channel the like emphasis I use them a lot effects obviously this is where the effects come

from like cool stuff like confet and or like fire much much more stuff um obviously

more on that later more on everything later right now I'm just getting you familiar with everything so transitions

yeah so just to give you a quick idea of what a transition is so let's say I want to split this video right here I would

add a transition let's say I want to do this one number three so so let's see how it's going to look wow what a

transition so obviously more on that later but uh yeah filters is where we add stuff that changes the colors of a

video the way a video looks right so now it became purple adjustment tab this is something similar to filters except look

on the right side we can adjust all of these settings all of these settings have to do with colors how things look

so we can like play with brightness for example do this crazy stuff um also a whole science this section we're going

to get back to it later this I believe I can't remember what it stands for hsl but it basically uh saturation right

it's saturation related so you can play around with colors as well um curves more on that later for sure templates I

don't really use AI characters I don't really but the reason I don't use these characters is because I have my own

obviously but can play around with these feel free to use them briefly on the right side if you select so if you have

nothing selected on the right side you just see the basic information about your project so we can see its name and

settings whatever I don't really ever use it for that purpose the purpose I use it for however is when you click on

anything let's first of all click on this filter so we click on a filter and on the right side we can configure the

filter right we can now click on this adjustment thingy and we can also configure it you know on the right side

so and now we can click on this video we can also configure it on the right side so depending on what you're trying to

configure the options V vary right obviously like with Filter you can only change its strength but with the video

you can change about a million things let's go through this uh all these things so first thing that can be

changed is scale so let me get this smaller by the way you can drag these things like that adjust you know your

interface as you wish you can make this smaller bigger drag it like this you can also use this although I recommend to

always keep it in a default layout but let's say if you're using two screens you can choose to have timeline

separated so right now I have the temp timeline on my other screen as a complete you know like separate

window and um I do use it sometimes when I create like really massive videos like an hour long videos with like a million

effects where I need to see everything uh but for the most part don't bother but it's there but yeah do

keep in mind adjusting the size like that so let's go now through these settings on the right side so scale this

is how you scale a video make it bigger or smaller you can also type in values here um yeah let's say

10 160 so it's all the way zoomed in or let's let's do I don't know 50 so it's very small now um you can also use

uniform scale so let's say you can adjust this ticker like that to make it wider or make it taller or smaller right

so let's say I want to make this video super wide for like a meme so I would just do it like that now we can we need

to turn on back the uniform scaler so so that we can now adjust the whole thing at once pretty cool stuff right

so let me actually reset the whole thing to reset the settings at a particular window just click on redo and now

everything is redone so next thing down the line position you can adjust position manually by typing in values

but you would be an insane person if you do it that way the way I do it is I just simply click on the video and I drag it

around and if one second if you just now pay your attention to these two numbers if I just move it somewhere boom value

changed so I mean yeah that's that's how you drag just drag it around basically don't don't bother uh rotation again

like there's a couple of ways you can rotate you can obviously type in your values let's say 90 degrees or you can

spin this wheel or the way I do it and everyone pretty much does it is just hold down this thing and just um spin it

around just like that very easy uh blend so let's keep going this aligning line it's whatever it's only mostly useful

with text it is definitely useful but not with objects so in the blend section you can obviously increase or decrease

opacity of a video make it darker more on that later on uh we can also stabilize it if you have some footage

that you recorded in your GoPro and it's like this all over the place we just uh click on stabilize and select the

level uh and um yeah obviously it's not going to do anything to this footage because I'm just sitting in the room

there's nothing to stabilize uh but yeah and everything honestly that's below I'm still going to mention but I barely ever

use it uh well almost everything so okay image enhancement almost completely useless it's just it doesn't really do

much like it kind of does but it really doesn't noise reduction is super useful so if you recorded a video uh where

there's a lot of uh background noise literally so you know the wind sound let's say if you're recording outside

this is going to come in clutch really will I've saved a lot of my own videos that way in fact if you want to listen

to How it sounds and what it does you can go to school right here and you can go to the a Academy you go to classroom

and watch these videos right I think yeah these videos were recorded outside they had terrible wind noise and then I

when I was editing them I applied to them this noise reduction uh feature and it helped me a

lot so that's a cool one uh well where were we yeah so I had it on strong setting by the way so relight it's I

guess it's self-explanatory if you have like you know sunlight somewhere very strong you can adjust it so relight I

guess self-explanatory it just adds light again it's kind of useless if you know

how to use this this adjustment tab I've never used it not once also ay frame I mean it's okay it's cool you can do it

that way but then it's going to be all shaky it's it's going to try to use AI to reframe your thing and if I'm being

honest you just go to ratio and you go to 916 and then you just drag your Corners like this and that's how you

reframe this is this phone standard by the way 916 so it's kind of useless let let me just get it back uh whoa let's

redo the scale so what's what else what else removing video flickers it's kind of useful if you have uh like a random

light sunlight in your video let's say or basically the lightning is bad lighting is bad you can fix it that's

what it mostly used for so AI movement is also kind of cool it's like AI tracking if you if you're doing like

dancing videos Tik Tok videos um and you want the camera I'm sure You' all seen these trending videos where the camera

focuses on the person it just kind of moves along with the person that's that's how it's made um but I don't

really create these videos so I don't use it ever same pretty much camera tracking does the same except it really

you know here basically the pattern is already predetermined uh but here you can just

tell it to tell the AI to really uh focus on a part of your body so Face Body your hand um motion blur I I don't

use it never I blur manually I'll teach you later how of course canvas is useful so let's say we want to have you know

I'm sure you've all seen this but we can make the video smaller and then we can um drop this thing down like that and

then we can first of all we can choose to blur it and then we can just have this nice uh elegant looking blur around

the picture but obviously you can also choose the color let's say like this I use it sometimes but when I need

it it's super useful then you can choose a style which is kind of on the cringe side in my opinion but it's there so we

can have it like rainbow or Christmas whatever yeah I don't know you have to get really creative with this but it's

there so now I'm just going to briefly cover timeline although I'm going to cover it in more detail in the next

video but I'm just going to tell you what each button represents so on the right side we can uh see the zoom in

zoom out thingy so yeah we can literally just zoom in and out like that while I'm at it another way to zoom out the way I

actually zoom out is just holding down control and scrolling up and down so that's how you efficiently and quickly

zoom out uh you can also click this button shift Z and uh this one uh I don't know why I neglected this

button but like maybe for the first two three months of my own editing I refused to take the time to research all the

buttons in capcut like all the features right I would learn them just kind of randomly out of nowhere I don't know and

so and I always had this issue like I would make I'll be making this big video and I'll be zoomed in all the way and

then I just want to zoom out fast and I hate to sit there and scroll but but that was my only choice not necessarily

you have this button you just click it and at once it zooms out completely there's even a short key so zoom in all

the way and press shift Plus Z and that's going to zoom you out within a click this one is a game changer trust

me when I say this write this down shift plus Z when you're going to have big complex projects and you need to fix

like literally one frame last thing you want to do is sit there and like you have to zoom in all the way to be fair

but you don't want to do this again do you so shift plus Z memorize it next one is preview access I I don't really use

it I don't really understand it but essentially you can turn it on and preview everything without

sound I mean the reason I don't use it is is I can just click here you know have my mouse in this radius of these of

these dotted lines and I can just like do the same by holding down the M Mouse button no difference um and but but this

way by the by the you know wherever I land is where I'm going to be editing so you know what I mean like let's say I

want to we're currently in this segment and I need to start editing this segment on the right

uh you can do this but I don't know it it's just I never use it linkage is I don't not only I don't use it I don't

even understand it to be honest with you it's completely useless at least I have not figured out why you would need it uh

when you do turn it on basically I mean I've tried to use it but it it makes no sense like when you turn it on and you

start having a lot of layers it makes these weird connections it somehow connects the pieces of footage without

even you knowing and then it connects them and then when you try to drag a piece it's the linkage drags a bunch of

more pieces with it it complet creates complete mess in the timeline so I don't use it and I don't think you should be

using it as well as it is complete garbage so maybe if you guys find it useful though here's a request of mine

actually if you watching this you already know cap cut somewhat and you use it please tell me how do you use it

I'm genuinely asking turn on turn on turn off Autos snapping is an important one to have so what it does is let's

zoom in all the way and split this thing so yeah with auto snapping you can know exactly where the

previous piece of footage ends so let's say this is a previous one you just you can have this one like exactly like this

together with auto snapping and you'll know it if it's off you can leave it like this and so what going to happen is

if we going to we can turn it off you see when it's on it shows these blue lines so I know exactly where it's

snapping as it's showing the end of this previous piece of footage if I have it off it's just it can land wherever it

doesn't care for snapping so what can happen is if you're zoomed out all the way without Auto snapping right it's

very easy to leave your piece of footage like this bar like just literally a frame apart

like literally one frame and so now with noticeable we zoomed in all the way but now let's actually press shift Z and

zoom out all the way it's not visible it's really not but if you're watching the video just pay attention how the

screen is going to get black for like one millisecond you saw that

right so that looks like if you let that export and if you upload that to YouTube it kind of looks ugly and unprofessional

and so but that's that will happen if you do not have the um Auto snapping turned on

so turn it on uh magnet is kind of useful but it's kind of not so what it does is you have your main track mag I'm

sorry you have your main track right so the bottom track is your main track it has this cover sign next to it and so um

yeah what what the magnet does is we if we have it on you can notice I can just drag the file away from it and nothing

happens if I turn it on now it's going to snap back and in fact it's going to continue doing it so whatever new object

I place uh on the on the timeline is going to be snapped back to this main track

magnet so it it is useful in a few instances so first of all it's useful when we create shorts with AI with a

bunch of AI images so let's say I'll show you exactly what I'm talking about so these kind of images

so and let's say we have a bunch of them and I want to adjust their length Okay so with because the main track magnet is

selected I can just drag them like this and you know move change their length like this so it's useful if it was off

right I could not do this I would not be able to I can only I would only change them individually and then have to like

drag them like this yeah this is kind of painful uh so that's the first use case the Second Use case if you let's say

this is a talking head video which it is by the way and I need to cut it up and remove all the pauses I'll show you how

to remove pauses in a second but yeah with the main track magnet we can just remove a bunch of pauses Bam Bam Bam and

then delete videos and it's just going to snap oh let me turn it on and you see it's just going to be snapping on

automatically so it's how you chop up a video very fast so yeah now we I think we fully covered the right side

obviously this is a record button you can record stuff on cap cut although I never do and I wouldn't produces very

low quality records so I I don't know why you would use it but it's there so now let's firstly before we cover these

elements let's actually cover the an elements on the very left like right next to the timeline so this is a mute

button obviously it will just mute your track so right now this track has sound like right I speak in video but we don't

hear it because I selected to mute the clip obviously uh if you hide the track it's not visible you cannot hear it you

cannot see it it's not even there right it's hidden du and if you decide to lock it it's locked so you cannot click on it

you cannot drag it look I'm selecting it nothing happens you would do this when you create big large uh project you know

let's say 20 minute plus project with a lot of stuff in it the last thing you want to do is while

you're scrolling navigating quickly last thing you want to do is you just hit something accidentally and then it moves

you know I mean like you can just be scrolling through and then um just mess with an effect and it moves a few frames

so you don't want to ever do that and once you know you're done with the part of the editing of the project you can

just lock it and forget about it so yeah that's kind of all there is to the left side it's pretty self-explanatory we can

actually move it like this yeah you can hide it and expand it as well so um yeah this is a drop down menu for your tools

so select and split are super crucial to know because you can obviously select it right here it's selected by default also

press a yeah this is the selecting thing that's how you move elements around with uh when you press B or when you select

split you obviously start splitting so that's how you split a video and while I'm edit another way to split a video is

to navigate right here and to click on this thing split or one more way is to um navigate anywhere and press contrl B

for splitting in fact that's my one of my favorite ways of splitting so let's say I want to chop up this part so I

just go like this and then like this and like this and like this all while uh holding down just contrl b contrl b chop

chop chop and um that's how you split let's say I split it at the wrong place I want this action to be undone so I

want to go back in time and you know this never happened very simple just click on undo right here and this action

all these actions never even happened right obviously right here before I move forward we have select left word and

right word also these are buttons I neglected for a very long time but what what it does is essentially when you

have a long project and let's say you want to really adjust something like right here in the middle in the middle

of nowhere like random part um let's say we we want to make it shorter so then again if you've edited

let's remove the magnet for this example if you have edited again I mean if you have edited before you will understand

the pain of what I'm about to say but yeah let's say we want to make it shorter and everything on the right side

obviously has to be moved leftwards otherwise it's going to be this black screen so you would have to zoom out all

the way select everything like this you know zoom in catch catch it perfectly no don't do that just just go right here

select right word and it's going to literally select everything right from the cursor everything and so then just

move it all at once it's one of those tips that really is going to save you a lot of time so you're welcome uh but now

let's go back to select obviously again this goes backwards this goes forward this splits this delete everything on

the left so let's say you have it should be somewhere in the middle and then boom everything on the left is gone and then

anything on the right of the selected video is also going to be cut off like that this obviously deletes the selected

object but I just use delete button and never really use it and about markers I should probably take a second to talk

about um so yeah markers are incredibly useful and there's like a million ways you could use them uh you just have to

get creative you have to edit a bunch of videos to understand what segments need to be marked off but there is a few ways

to apply them so have nothing selected to have nothing selected just click anywhere here uh and yeah just click on

marker and that's how you marked out this piece of footage you can see them right here at the upper part of the

timeline there's also a way to leave marks on a particular piece of like footage just click on the footage and

click on the marker and then now it's on the the actual video you can also no you cannot add it to effects what about yeah

so I guess you can only add it to videos or songs I know for a fact you can addit them add them to music because I do all

the time in fact with markers I mark off the Beat Drops what I do is I mark off chapters you know those time stamps in

the videos while I'm edit I just with markers I mark off the chapter um there's anything you can do use them for

to represent you know let's say you can have a marker here and it tells yourself that hey up to this very moment we have

cut up all the pauses right or done whatever or let's say the beat drop the reason I do it is let's say the beat

drop is on this particular second you want your video Start literally on the exact moment of the beat drop so what

you would do without a marker is you and let's say the video the song trck is here this is a very common pattern in

the world of editing right so we first of all we have to move it here and then shorten it and then have it right here

but the reason I know where to shorten it is because I previously placed marker on the thing if I didn't know where the

be drop is and it's I mean by the way you would naturally look and would think that the bat drop is right here because

like that's visually where the audio is increasing right but it's not always the case not nearly always and so if you

didn't have the marker you would have it here you know cut it randomly like this have to listen in and then adjust and

then adjust again and just spay spend extra 30 seconds for no reason right so I think generally speaking it's all

about maximizing maximizing your time it's like an equation of doing it as fast as possible in the easiest way

possible without being fancy uh you know having everything simple organized but all of that has to

get you as much result as possible so if you need more result you would have to put in more time but ideally you should

always take as little time as possible and in order to maximize your time doing these nerdy crazy things like marking

off be drops helps tremendously you know it just collectively saves you time so continue on this interface so the next

thing is freeze it's also a super useful thing I use all the time so obviously this is a video you can see me talking

let's say for some reason I want to I want to show people this Frame and only this Frame so I want to turn it into

picture I select the video I navigate where I want the picture to be taken essentially and then I click on freeze

and now we can just move it back and boom we have a picture made out of video we can stretch it it's now a picture so

as you can see I'm moving around but nothing is happening because it is a picture the thinking got the point by

now so we can select the video again we can also reverse play it literally place it

backwards nothing fancy but sometimes you need it for dramatic purposes for sure for some reason it's taking so long

that's the reverse clip playing again nothing uh super fancy there but uh yeah if we select it now we can also mirror

the track so let's say I want to be facing different direction uh we can do that as well um what else can we do yeah

we can also mirror this if we wanted to uh we can also rotate the picture like this but again just do that it's kind of

it's kind of here for no reason uh however this one is quite useful this is a crop so let's say I want to only have

myself we could also do this with a mask but more on that later but for now just know that you can crop videos like that

just have this as a separate video new brand new video yeah we can also do uh do this it's a transcript based editing

or essentially if we extract extract audio like this it can turn into silence remover so that's how I use

it um it's not perfect though it's a very early prototype of this technology be aware of that so yeah now click on

remove filter ws and it's just going to remove all of them again as you can see it removed the pause right here

so uh play around I usually edit a lot of my videos using this feature but um sometimes it's kind of useless or

sometimes cuts out the wrong parts of the footage so what I'm saying is sometimes is just easier and faster to

edit everything manually and remove all the pauses so but it's there for you to check it out if you have a pro version I

think with all that we have covered the basics of the interface and in the next video Let's actually um go more into the

editing process uh by the way one last thing I forgot to mention is actually how to use the importance of using short

keys or shortcuts which ones I'm using which ones I changed so again remember about uh shift Z so zooming out uh

holding down control and then scrolling down your mouse wheel to zoom in and out and right here in the shortcut tab you

should know because I changed one setting the uh side scrolling where is it right here so left right so

personally I hold down shift and I scroll left and right so it is super essential you know you you will have to

do it like get used to it you will have to be scrolling left and right and so uh I Believe by default you're going to

have it as alt plus scroll if you're on Windows if you're on Mac you're going to have it command plus scroll and so I'm

not saying you absolutely have to change it but I would suggest changing it because first of all I don't know why

capcut has it like this any other software uses shift plus scroll that's why I changed it like KVA Photoshop

premere Pro they all have shift plus scroll so you're coming from other softwares you're going to have that

issue as well like naturally when I was using capcut for the first week I I thought they had no Sid scroll option I

was really mad about this uh but then I just randomly clicked alt plus scroll and then I figured out that they do and

then I just had to change the settings so and genuinely speaking get familiar with all these shortcuts have them

memorized uh because it does tremendously save you time just you knowing where and what to click on the

keyboard not all of them are useful we're going to get back to it later on but as of now just keep in mind that I

have that changed so in this video let's talk more about the actual timeline and editing I have some notes Here uh for

myself that I'm going to be about what we're going to be talking about so yeah timeline and editing

obviously this is if you if you haven't figured out so far this is the media tab from where you're going to be exporting

your videos uh to to the project file so let's actually use the video that

literally this course you just watched this is the first chapter like I'll um use some of the footage to just recorded

So first of all I want to show you some more shortcuts that I haven't shown you in the previous lessons so it's jkl j

for playing backwards right so well I have these projects here but yeah it basically plays the whole project

backwards if the starting point is right here if you click J it's going to replay the whole project but if you have let's

say right here the thing is going to play Backwards uh and it's useful if let's say you want

and it's useful if you want to look through the project real quick and then you can let's say click l and

it's going to play forward you can click l again and it's going to play forward in 2x 4X 8X as you can see you can see

right here the speed uh changing now we can press K and it's going to stop now we can press J it's going to play

Backwards press J again guess what's going to happen it's going to play into 2x 4X and 8x again as you can see right

here so again jkl if you're working with a particular segment you just can just quickly watch

it back and forward as many times as you want to again I do want to remind it to you again I am going to be reminding you

things throughout these tutorials so you really get them uh memorized so again I want to remind you about shift plus Z

just if you're like zoomed in all the way just click shift plus Z and you're going to be zoomed out so you can see

now I guess when I was saying with when you have massive project so this is Imagine This is 4 hours and you're

zooming in all the way like this and then boom you zoom down so now I'm going to show you all possible ways to split a

clip so obviously there's a few ways uh you can navigate anywhere either uh click on this split button right here so

it just it's going to split it obviously and then you can uh select the split tool and just split it like this also

useful and then my favorite one is you just hold down contrl B just Spam it and chop

it up like this and and then just remove whatever you don't need and last thing last way one of the ways to shorten the

clip is literally just dragging the um side like this to make it shorter so another way to shorten a clip is

obviously you can drag its sides like that and another way yet another way to shorten the clip is you can go to speed

on the right side and increase its speed so obviously it's the same clip you didn't make it shorter but it's just

playing way faster now as you can see so now I could show you a very common pattern or a situation that you could

have and so in this situation I can show you at once like a lot of basics of the editing so let's say this is your camera

footage this is your talking head video right so first of all you're going to have pauses in the voice over so but

there is no voice over at this moment so we can click on right side extract audio so first of all that's how you extract

an audio from a video file it's also useful if you're like downloading sound effects from YouTube they're usually

going to be downloaded as like actual videos so you can also do that for this purpose so once you have the voice

removed if even if we remove the Visionary the voice track is still going to be there right regardless so let's

say we want to have I'll mute it for now but let's say you want to have the video of this talking head and then here he

talks about something and so for these three set three seconds I want to have something else playing right so we can

move this footage right here and then we can we have to cut it off right here so how do we cut it off we can press contrl

B and then we delete it and then we put it right here and uh just like that so he's still talking about whatever he's

talking about but people are seeing this uh Boll right so pretty simple stuff show you this ratio this is obviously

the ratio it's by default 16 by9 if you want to and it's fine for YouTube but if you want to create short form content 9

916 is the move so if you want to repurpose it just um have it like this and then you can also make it bigger by

stretching the corners and now we have a short form video just like that so this is obviously the full screen menu so if

you want to watch your video in full screen just click right here and then click on escape to um make it out this

is the zoom in window so let's say this video is just weirdly scaled but let's say we want to take a closer look it's

not going to zoom in the actual video it's not going to change it the this information we're only going to look at

it closer right so just uh Zoom it in and then here on the right side you can you know navigate where you want to zoom

in so that's useful if you're doing some really like closeup editing uh once it's done just zoom back out and that's how

you quickly zoom in also right here you should some select the setting preview quality always have it on actually

performance priority I don't know why I have it on quality but that way when you're playing back the video here all

the time it's not it's it's going to show up a little blurry but that way your computer is going to be faster

obviously so another Pro tip is to actually always keep your timeline organized so ideally it should always be

like one layer in entire layer with the voice over and then one more layer with the music and another one with sound

effects maybe two or three with sound effects depending on the complexity and that's it nothing more you don't need

nothing more don't do like 25 layers for no reason it really wastes your time down the road so in order to really

complete this lesson these two lessons this one and the previous one by now I'll provide you the asset of this

talking head so let's talk about clip properties changing clip properties even though I kind of mentioned it already

I'll mention it again everything that has to do with the clip properties is uh on the right side so here on the right

side you can scale your footage you can make it bigger smaller like that I already showed you that so Pro tip like

I always have my footage with the talking head like 104 so that has extra space for animations and whatnot just uh

you always want to have that extra space so so let me show you a quick example of how it could be used knowing what you

are supposed to know already let me just get uh some random b roll in here so now let's say we have this footage obviously

of our talking head we could scale it down I mean scale it up a little bit have it on the right

side and then like that maybe scale it even more to close up for this purpose but and then we can have these three

pieces of footage show up on the right side so we can uh adjust them individually we can scale them down and

have them on the right or we what we can do now is let's say we select all of them type in on the right side value for

them like you know whatever 30 and then uh have them all some like like this so this is how you could use

scaling and this is just a quick example of it you can also select them all and align them on the right so there all

perfectly facing so next thing you could use is opacity it's under the blend right here and this is one this one is

Big even though it seems like just one line and one indicator it does so much so obviously if it's at 100 the image is

fully visible if it's zero it's fully invisible if we have it you know halfway it's could be considered an effect and

so just to give you an idea of how it truly works we'll have to actually animate things using opacity and this is

now our transition to key frames so I'm now introducing it to Key frames as well so it's going to be simple for now but

in order to apply a key frame just on this right side you see this add key frame this little square or yeah I guess

it's a square so when you click on it it creates key frame and you can see it right here on the timeline I can create

it right here so it's more visible so this little dot right here is a key frame so key frame you can add it to

anything you can add it in the scale in the speed in the almost anything that can be changed in any video video

editing software goes with key frames um so let's say we want to add a key frame here what we can do now is basically

Let's uh I can try to decrease the opacity here and I hope it's going to make sense so let's put it to zero and

now watch I want you to look at two things look at this thing and look how the opacity is going to be automatically

going down like I'm not going to touch anything so as you can see the image is becoming transparent this is the key

frames working so basically you can each key frame represents value at a given time so if

we leave it at 100 nothing is going to happen right so there is you know or let's say we want to add two more key

frames in the project so let's say we want it to stay stay fully visible until this key frame and then between those

two key frames we only want it to go down to um 50% and then we want it to go absolutely

down to 100% by the next key frame so now it's going to gradually Fade Out or we can also use it for scaling

purposes uh same thing we can make the thing bigger whole lot bigger right just like that or another way to

use it let's actually redo all the key frames here and we can use it the other way around so as an effect as a fade in

effect so create a key frame right here and then fade it in like that and it's going to be fading in so what cutout

does obviously is you just go right here and it cuts out a human figure so just like that the human is removed or the

sorry the background behind the human is removed it's actually useful you can copy paste and then you can uh on the

bottom layer you can actually bring back the background and so that way you have you know you can place something in

between those layers so for example you know whatever like something very much visible so you can already

tell uh by the way remember I told you guys to have this free fre layer on option turned on because it is turned on

I am able to place things in between those two layers layers if it was turned off I would not be able to do that but

as you can see the effect is being shown behind the character the front layer so yeah that's what it mostly used for but

in the cutout there's also a section of it which I would have to show with a different piece of footage so let's say

that we can go to this customized and we can cut out objects in this case let's just imagine this guy's an object first

of all we can just draw a random line on it and capc is going to select it as you can see I went outside of it a bit

so it selected this part and now we can just erase it and it's going to do all the work for us and then just apply and

it's going to be so processing um has to process here on the

right side but yeah now we can see as as you saw we saw this little thing right here so we can fix it just

navigate to the right frame and then click once or like kind of drag it and it should be

removed something like that so yeah I hope you get the point also you can blur the background I almost forgot to

mention so just a cool tip so go to effects type in blur so search up and then just uh drop it also in between the

layers so that way the background is going to be blurred obviously uh very simple stuff I guess so your

task for this lesson is uh to go back to the two previous assets that I provided in the previous lesson

and create this animation where you have the talking character and then on the right side you have The Boll just fade

in so you have it small like this on the side and you have it fade in using the opacity like this so what you can do now

for your task is to recreate what you're seeing right now so where you have from the previous lesson two assets the

talking head and the buau and then recreate scale it down and then have it fade in using the

opacity ideally you can also play around with the scale you can also play around with the scale and have the picture jump

in from the right side like this using key frames on so in this one let's talk about backgrounds and removing green

screens obviously in the previous one I showed you a little bit on on that but let's talk more about it so um yeah I

mean understanding these Concepts is also super crucial one of the key aspects of the whole editing uh game so

like I showed you in the previous lesson you can use the autoc cut out and then duplicate the layer and just have the

you know the one without the background underneath you can get creative I showed you how you can place the effects in

between so another thing I also showed you but I guess I'll show it again with an object is remove an object you just

drag on it once and AI cap Cuts AI selects what you need need to remove let's say you want to remove this thing

too and then those things have no background super cool so now I can show you how to remove green screen which I

don't again I don't recommend using it from the library but I'll just use it so go to cut out go to um chroma key and

then go to Color Picker and just click on the color you want to uh remove so yeah this color and um

yeah now select the strength I guess I'll remove these pictures so it's so it makes more sense so again let's go to

cutout and it's already selected yeah so just like

that and now yeah in the string obviously selected until everything is gone just have it on 100 and let's see

how it looks like so there's no green screen if we have it above the character so and if we can scale it down

like this looks like your typical YouTuber intro so the task for you for this video is to again use that talking

head video which you already have and then go to cap Cut's uh Library add any element with the green screen have it in

the bottom of the screen and uh just recreate basically what you're seeing right now so in this one we can talk

about body and face enhancement so what I'm even talking about is go to video and on the right side go to enhance and

then select the face now obviously this is an AI character so well you can you can see the difference now if I zoom in

all the way on the face if you take a closer look you see what it does so it just kind of evens it out completely um

you can change the smile lines obviously there's no particular order of going with things using this setting but just

just so you know it exists so ads you know it also you can also do things with it with the body let's try it on a

different video so you can also so do some facial Beauty like play around with all these

settings so here's the body settings you can like adjust all these things it's pretty cool and it doesn't work all the

way obviously because it's a cuto off picture I mean you can see what it does by this setting so yeah just it's here

play around with it uh you can also do makeup or something like absolutely crazy change this stuff um so yeah just

know it's there so in this let's talk about speed and how it can be changed so yeah select the video or the audio it's

also applicable to audio there is no audio but H yeah it's the same setting in the audio but yeah just go right here

to speed and then um the first way to change it is obviously dragging this thing like can make it we can play it we

can make it play you know 80 times faster just too fast you can play 2x faster and make it slower if you wanted

to um so if you do want to make it slow you make sure to use the smooth slow mo so because you see the way now it's kind

of laggy but I hope once it's done processing it's going to look just right so let's see now and what if I turn on

this thing yeah I guess it's it's definitely not as glitchy so do keep that in mind

if you want to do slowo so what else is available here is the curve section so that's actually where it gets pretty

cool so so yeah make sure it's at normal speed before you go into this and so there are some uh pre-made ones so

Bullet For example where just um yeah so as you can see it's going to be normal speed or rather a bit faster for a

moment and then it's going to get really slow and then it's going to continue to being

faster so and the jump cut is vice versa so it just really speeds it up for a second and then continues uh to be

slow but if we want to extend it so for example you can go here and then we can extend this thing or we can rather make

it like this and then add a key frame right here and then bring it down so this is kind of how you would edit it

and now the faster part is just going to be longer uh but yeah I do want to create a

custom one so let's create a customized one so first of all how we could make the thing start slow and then go really

fast so just have it going up like a graphic it's very simple actually just have it go like this and so it's going

to go from slow to fast right or um yeah just get creat with it or you could make it slow again

you could have it wavy like this so yeah this it's a cool feature to explore uh do explore it do understand

it and uh the task your task for this lesson is to recreate this diagram right here with this asset that

I'll provide in the description below just yeah make it start slow and it has to end fast or doesn't have to be this

asset any asset now I'm just going to quickly mention the stickers section um there's a lot of them you should really

take your time to scroll through the entire secret section but those would be um you know the most those are the ones

I used so for example this red circulation thing and the Green Arrow so yeah to in order to use it just drag it

on the timeline like this by holding it down or press uh the plus sign and then on the right side as always you can

adjust it so first of all you can drag it around scale it down um turn it around like

this we can also animate it so on the right side you can select an in animation and the out

animation but more on that later uh but knowing what you know now I can already show you a quick usage for it so for

example we want this sticker to be pointing at this car at all times at the front of the car

so yeah let's actually not do animation now but yeah so let's say it's starts here and then we can frame it and then

the car moves here so we move the sticker here and as you can see once you frame it once it's going to create a new

frame automatically so just move it along with the car and we have it pointing at the car so just keep

adjusting it like that and now we can have it disappear so let's see how it

looks so as you can see this is how you create an animation like this was it's done in seconds super

easy so yeah guess that's all you should know about stickers there's really not that many settings you can play with

obviously you can use animation with this so let's we can have it fade in like

this and um yeah that's you can also have a loop animation so it's like animated throughout the uh whole

duration of that sticker so we can have it jumping like this yeah so do take a look at stickers

there's really hundreds of them if not thousands probably hundreds but uh yeah we're moving on so in this one we're

going to talk about effects and transitions so I guess I can just show you how it looks like in the project so

you've already know how to do that you already know how to extract the audio and let's say we have this talking head

and right now in this very moment it's talking about a car right so we're going to split this segment delete this part

and insert the uh the car footage right here right so have it right like this and then let's say at this moment it's

talking about some business guys whatever and let's have it like this so now the way it is now it's cool it's

just straight cuts but we can definitely improve it yeah we can definitely make the whole change of the frames of the

clips Smoother by adding transitions obviously so and again just like stickers um there is a lot of

transitions on capcut the beauty of it is you know and other more advanced softwares you would have to create all

this stuff manually what would take hours to create here is just a matter of a drag so do play around do find the

ones you like I did write down some keywords I'm actually going to show you them now the ones I like or some of the

classic ones so first of on first of all black fade you can find it in the overlay section right here as well so

this is just alltime Classics so it just kind of Fades now in order to adjust there's not many

adjustment settings for Trans transitions just the duration so you can drag this thing on the right side or you

can actually dry drag the sides of the actual transition so now it's like super long obviously and that way it's going

to be super short although don't ever have them under 0.4 0.5 seconds otherwise it just hurts like it I don't

know it doesn't look so elegant as if it's like zero 0.8 in fact I myself always try to have them on

0.8 so it's it's long enough for people to actually see and observe the transition right otherwise why are you

putting it there so next important section is the movement so some again they're actually available for free like

the left transition just again very simple understandable in the trending section if you have the pro version

there's so many more options like for example ccope or um there's so many or this one I use

quite frequently the golden flare so it's um it has to load

first yeah so or or you can type in blur and you can use the uh where is it the sparkle blur I like it a

lot so it kind of looks fancy um yeah I mean just play around go through each one and just uh take your

time to look at it but yeah just the way I mean the the reason we use transitions is then we use them throughout the clip

wherever Cuts happen we just add the Transitions and then it just looks much smoother that way

right so we can just this one is kind of too short so we can make it way longer so it looks like a cool

animation and like that so I I I guess that EXP explains the uh transition oh another Pro tip if you actually want to

add the same exact transition to the entire video it's what I do to like AI generated shorts sometimes for example I

want to add this black fade across the entire video and instead of dragging it like that each time we can actually

apply it just once and on the right side right here click on apply to all and they have they were just all applied to

to the entire video as you can see so now let's move on to effects just like transitions there's there's so many of

them some of them are super cool it's something you need to need to take time research I am at the point where I kind

of memorized every single section just in the back of my mind I know which effects are where so even when I'm

creating something myself I don't even have to search I know exactly where to click like let's say I want to have a I

don't know a confet so I'll probably go to celebrate and within seconds I have it right here boom here it is the confy

you might see it in my videos frequently or uh this effect right here I also use it all the time also it is important to

choose your favorite effects or the frequently used effects this is the one I just showed you or the blur I use it

all the time so just have them right here it's kind of like presets it's kind of the part of being organized so it's

just essential to have all of this sometimes just it's easier to search for them as well well if you don't know

where is what so in order to apply the actual effects there's two way two ways first of all you can drag it directly on

the video that way it's going to be obviously applied only to the video let me actually apply something that's like

super visible right so it's only applied to this video but if we going to put this smaller video on

top as you can see it's only going to be applied to the video still uh but if we apply the same effect

like that let's say and we have two videos underneath everything is going to be

under that effect so it's kind of not the right way to use it but um and so yeah another reason to do it drop it

directly in the timeline is it can be stretched across multiple videos it's not the best effect for this purpose

yeah like this is a good one so yeah you can see these still not a good one where is a good one definitely a good one so

yeah you can see these Green Dots across the entire video instead of just one video and if you have it in the timeline

you have with the effects you have key frames available so you know let's say you want the video to start out with no

glow whatsoever so we lower atmosphere and speed and then right here we want everything to start so we can just

adjust the key frames like that so yeah now they start and um yeah now they continue and also when you add

them directly on the project you cannot add the key frames for some reason it's not available I don't know why but it is

what it is let's say I want to add effect behind this character like I already kind of showed you so go to

cutout on the top layer cut out the background using Auto cutout now you can drag something this is where it's useful

you can drag something either directly on the bottom layer or in between so for example blur can actually drop it in

between have it end right here and then maybe you want it to gradually blur right so in the beginning do it on zero

and then in the middle do a key frame like on 100 let's say and then you can see it gradually blurring so let's say

this part of the video is actually in between of the video right let let just say this this is how your video looks a

second so yeah this is this is your video and then you have the car it switches to the character and then

gradually blurs and then maybe once it's blurred once once that key key frame adds ends you can once the image in the

background is fully blurred you can then add stickers maybe so there is a reason for the background to be blurred and

then you can add an even animation to it so the looks something like this and then um yeah Sky the limits so your task
