Introduction: Redefining Internet Engagement
The speaker opens with a powerful declaration that individuals are meant to be experienced, not consumed by the internet. Highlighting how digital platforms can both empower and exploit attention, they urge a shift away from valuing numbers like followers and views toward honoring authentic expression. This approach connects well with ideas from Unlocking Personal Branding Success: The Three-Pillar Method for Rapid Growth, which emphasizes authentic foundations in personal branding.
The Problem with Current Internet Culture
- Emphasis on virality, clout, and safe content leads to performance over genuine expression.
- Internet dynamics reflect broader systemic issues like imperialism and capitalism, emphasizing profit and exploitation.
- Attention is framed as a form of energy and life force that is often hacked rather than respected.
- Such trends impact culture and identity, amplifying elitism, classism, and social hierarchies.
Personal Journey and Lessons Learned
- The speaker's evolution from a niche creator to embracing multi-dimensional interests (art, entrepreneurship, spirituality). This resonates with themes explored in Mastering Personal Branding: Stand Out in a Crowded Market, which advocates embracing complexity for differentiation.
- Challenges of fitting oneself into rigid niches and the negative impact on authenticity and growth.
- Importance of developing a clear, cohesive personal mission to thread diverse interests together.
Developing a Strong Foundation: The Personal Worldview Document
- Core values: Freedom, creativity, truth, community.
- Interests include philosophy, history, economics, spirituality, art, digital culture.
- Worldview acknowledges systemic inequalities while embracing digital tools for empowerment.
- Story and lived experiences, such as family entrepreneurship and caregiving, shape perspective and underscore the importance of digital independence.
Translating Identity into Brand Strategy
- Brand mission focuses on enabling marginalized voices to gain freedom and influence via the internet.
- Audience targeting socially conscious creatives and entrepreneurs in ownership-focused life phases.
- Psychographics include questioning traditional paths, seeking personal growth, and desiring social impact.
- Transformation goals: From inconsistent and uncertain creators to confident, strategic brand builders.

Practical Advice for Creators
- Prioritize establishing your personal "why" before content creation.
- Use the internet as a tool for expression, entrepreneurship, and connection, not just for validation.
- Avoid boxing yourself into narrow niches; embrace your multifaceted identity as your unique brand.
- Consistency and clarity stem from understanding your values and mission.
- Resist equating output or viral success with personal worth. These principles are echoed in How to Grow an Online Audience from Scratch: Insights from a YouTube Success.
Final Reflections: Embracing Our Human Complexity
- The internet offers unprecedented opportunities to share diverse voices and experiences.
- Authenticity counters the replicated, homogeneous content dominating current online culture.
- Every person holds a unique piece of the puzzle that enriches collective understanding.
- Creators are encouraged to reclaim their power, express fully, and not serve the machine.
Call to Action
- For deeper guidance, the speaker offers brand audits and a six-week coaching program focusing on identity, mission, and content strategy.
- Regardless of resources, creators should start by defining their authentic self and mission to foster sustainable and meaningful online presence.
This summary encapsulates the speaker's insightful critique of internet culture and practical methodology to cultivate authentic, multi-dimensional personal brands that honor creators' full humanity while leveraging digital platforms effectively.
I am not here to be consumed, okay? I am here to be experienced. And the internet is merely a tool for that, okay? I am
not a tool for the internet. And honestly, I think that the machine of the internet has made a lot of us forget
that. Whether you are creator or a consumer. I feel like somewhere along the way, like [ __ ] became so much about
like numbers and having the status symbol of followers and views and clout. So much so that like people stay within
the confines of what is safe to get that when they're creating content. And I feel like we lost the plot. I feel like
we lost the plot. I feel like what I've is so much of the internet has become a performance rather than expression. And
to be honest, it's not even our fault. I talk a lot on this channel about imperialism and how that has affected us
as humans and our self-worth, how we view life. It's affected so much, right? Imperialism is, you know, exploitation.
It is profit over people. And I feel like those same values have carried out into the internet now. You know, content
has become about like rage baiting people, less baiting people, insecurity baiting people, which in my opinion are
forms of exploitation because you are taught to like hack people's attention to a degree, not honor it. In my
opinion, my spiritual beliefs, I think that our attention is our energy, you know, and our energy is our most
valuable currency. It's literally our life force, you know? It's It's our mortality, like it's what we spend our
time, our limited time here on Earth consuming or focusing on, you know, or doing or being. And I think it's really
irresponsible the way the internet has become so much about like hacking people's [ __ ] attention and
exploiting it rather than giving something of value. And it doesn't always have to be education or some, you
know, thought pieces. It could be entertainment. It could be humor. It could be fashion. It could be art,
beauty, things like this, you know? But we can't lie that there is a whole side of the internet that is so much so about
just like hacking [ __ ] people's attention and exploiting them. And it's just like so much about numbers. And I
think that it's just so [ __ ] dangerous, you know? Because it's not just numbers. It's not just views. It's
not just followers. There are people, human beings on the other side of the [ __ ] screen. And it's not to say that
like you can't have views and be giving value, okay? It's not to say that you can't go viral and, you know, have
meaning in your content. I'm not conflating the two, okay? I There's nuance. But I'm not going to sit here
and act like there's not a whole side of the internet where people only care about views and virality. And it
concerns me because that affects culture, you know? The internet is affecting culture in real time. And I
guess what scares me about it is that we have turned human expression into just another production machine, just in
another way on the internet. But just like most things, you know, media is a tool. It should not be so deeply
attached to our identity, you know? Influencers and [ __ ] should not be put on pedestals just like celebrities. Oh
my gosh, we're seeing the downfall of that, like there's so much truth that has come to light over recent years. And
in my opinion, any kind of like social hierarchy is stupid to begin with, you know? But the internet definitely does
feel that, you know? Certain aesthetics, you know? Oh my gosh, it definitely feeds into elitism and classism. But
before I go on a whole tangent on that, there will be more videos. >> [laughter]
>> At the end of the day, like I'm saying, social media is just a tool, you know? It should be for people to experience
you. It's amazing that we can upload our consciousness to a degree, you know? And connect with people from all over the
world, build things, build community, build systems, build [ __ ] businesses. Like it's It's amazing. It's an
extension of our humanity. Like we can share our thoughts, our beliefs, our passions, our talents, our knowledge,
our humor, our creativity. It's an extension of our humanity. It shouldn't just be something where, you know, we
start performing in a way just for people to consume us so that we could get the validation through the views or
the followers or the clout or whatever, you know? And again, because I believe in nuance, I'm not saying those things
are inherently bad, okay? It feels nice to get recognition for your work. It's nice, you know? It It There is work that
goes into content, you know? So it feels nice. And like I said, you are connecting with people. So it's not
inherently bad. It's just when we deduce things to followers and views and virality and [ __ ] like that, you know?
And it's only so that we can like feed our own ego. And then another problem, too, is like I have with like niches.
It's like when we try to put ourself into a box, that's another way that we are, you know, trying to smash ourself
into, you know, performing for production. Like we are we're trying to perform in a way that is going to get us
that validation, right? Get us that view, follower count, whatever. But as I keep saying, we are not here to be
consumed. We are here to be experienced. So you can't just fit into one niche. Are you naturally going to have like one
to maybe three niches that you just kind of like fit into because that's what you're passionate about, you know? Yeah,
of course. But we shouldn't be trying to box ourself into a niche. We are the niche, okay? We I am the experience. And
it's taken me a while to get here, to be honest. Now, for anybody who is new, you know, I started off actually as a weed
tuber on social media. And then I went about using it as a business owner. And then I stopped smoking weed. I'm going
to do a whole video on that. But then I built a whole business as a social media manager, you know, and digital
strategist of social media. So I've had all these different like angles that I've used the internet for. And I've
always been like, [ __ ] like how do I box myself in cuz I do so much. I'm an artist, you know? I'm an entrepreneur.
I'm a creator. And I'm a human. So that means that I'm constantly evolving. So like how can I expect myself to just
stay in one niche forever? And so honestly, like for a few years I was just bouncing around trying to be in a
niche, trying to be a niche. I even I did spirituality, mindset. I even went into like astrology for a little while,
you know? I have tried to fit myself into niches of all these different interests that I have. But it it never
works. It didn't start working like really good until recently when I figured it out. And this is exactly what
I do with my clients because I felt like my personal experience and me having to go through this on my own and then
watching my clients struggle with the same thing of having to like be multi-faceted and then being like, well,
how do I brand this online, you know? Like how do I fit myself into something that's cohesive so it's not just all
over the place. I'm about to tell y'all, okay? Everything has to thread together through a message, at least, okay? You
should have some kind of mission. And then everything else can fall under that. Your Your mission should be kind
of like the umbrella. And everything else, all the little niches, sub niches, are how you express, right? And how you
live by that mission. So posting got a lot easier once I stopped asking like, oh, what should I post? What should I
post? And I started asking, what do I stand for? Because honestly, like when your message is clear, you know your why
behind posting online, the content becomes [ __ ] easy. The consistency becomes easy. The creativity becomes
easy. Because then you start thinking of all these ways to express, you know, that mission, that message that you
have. And that is how you let people truly experience you, you know, your soul, your calling. And so a lot of
creators, I feel like, are multi-faceted. We're freaking humans, dude, like no one is just one anything,
you know? And I think this is kind of like where capitalism has affected us, imperialism, too. Is like we only define
ourself by like how we produce, right? I'm a doctor. I'm a this. I'm a that, you know? But we're so much more than
that. Like you have so much intersectionality to your identity. And that is what makes you unique. And that
is what is going to make you stand out online. And so sometimes I feel like if you're trying to shrink yourself into a
niche, you know, you might lose yourself in the process or you're not even allowing yourself to be fully
experienced online, you know, by all the people that you're meant to resonate with and touch. And so I want to share
with y'all what I do with my clients so that you could kind of start doing this for yourself. Or if you want, you can,
you know, apply to work with me, shameless promo. But instead of just like jumping into content, which for a
while I did when I was social media manager, you know, I just helped edit and stuff and I was just letting my
clients do what they wanted to do. But I quickly realized that like that kind of affects your growth if you don't have a
strong foundation. So I do brand audits and I have a six-week coaching program. And I want to kind of show y'all what I
do within it. So the first two weeks I go over identity, story, beliefs, and values. And then with that, I thread
that all together and I turn that into a personal worldview document. And I'm going to use mine as an example to show
y'all so you can kind of like mimic it if you want. And then I go and I take that and I turn it into a brand map,
okay? So let me explain. So the purpose of the personal worldview document is so that everything about you, everything
that makes you you, is clearly put on paper, okay? So let's read mine. It starts off with your values because
again, all of these things, your values, your interests, your worldview, your perspective, your story, your
experiences, these are all the things that are going to make you unique, okay? Not the [ __ ] niche you're in. You are
the niche. This is what creates your own lane. So my core values revolve around freedom, creativity, truth, and
community. I value independence over conformity and I believe that people should have ownership over their time,
their skills, and their ideas. Creativity is really central to how I see life, you know? Art, expression,
original thought. These are all ways that people can connect themselves to others. And I also value honesty about
the systems that shape our world, you know? I believe real progress requires acknowledging the historical and
economic forces that influence people's opportunities. Community matters to me because success should not exist in
isolation and I believe it leads to elitism and classism. And I believe that people grow faster and build stronger
lives when knowledge, resources, and opportunities circulate within communities instead of being hoarded by
institutions, okay? So those are my values. My interests. The topics that I naturally gravitate towards include
philosophy, history, social systems, economics, spirituality, art, and digital culture. And imagine if I tried
to put myself in just one of those niches. How would I I can't express myself. I have way too many. But don't
worry, we're going to thread this all together. I am particularly interested in understanding how large systems such
as imperialism, capitalism, and historical racism shape people's subconscious beliefs and economic
outcomes. At the same time, I'm deeply interested in creativity and personal expression. Art, storytelling, and
content creation allow people to communicate ideas and perspectives that might otherwise never be heard. I am
extremely fascinated by how the internet has changed the way ideas spread and how ordinary people can build platforms
without traditional gatekeepers. Hence, my last video. Okay, next, my worldview. I believe that many people are taught to
see success as a purely individual effort. But, history shows that access to opportunity has never been evenly
distributed. Systems shaped by colonialism, imperialism, and structural inequality continue to influence
economic mobility today. Because of that reality, many people internalize these limitations that were never truly their
fault to begin with. They believe that they're not talented enough, not confident enough, or not worthy enough
to share their ideas, or to move up, you know, move up in the class ladder. At the same time, I believe that we are
living in a moment where tools exist that allow individuals to bypass some traditional barriers. The internet
provides direct access to audiences, education, and economic opportunities that previous generations did not have.
When people understand how to use these tools intentionally, they could build businesses, share ideas, and create
communities outside of traditional institutions. Next, we go into experiences that shaped my perspective,
my story, right? These are some core experiences of my story. Starting my first business with my mom through my
paint and sip event showed me the power of creativity and entrepreneurship. It demonstrated that people could build
something meaningful and profitable from their skills and their passions. Also, experiences with and learning about
historical racism and class assumptions also shaped my understanding of the world. Being called broke, stereotyped,
and being underestimated made me question where those assumptions actually came from. And learning about
history and economic systems helped me understand that inequality is not random and it's often rooted in historical
structures. Building a brand online and receiving messages from strangers saying my voice helped them reinforce the power
of sharing my perspectives publicly. It showed me that authenticity resonates more deeply than trying to fit into a
mold, the topic of this video. >> [laughter] >> One of the most defining moments came
from when my dad was diagnosed with his stage four lung cancer. Because my work was built online, right? I became a
social media manager and I was fully my own boss, I was able to pack up my laptop, move across the country, and be
there for him without needing permission from an employer. And, you know, that experience made it really clear to me
that digital independence can create real freedom, or at least, you know, more opportunity. So, ultimately, how
does all this fit together, Alexis? Cuz you are talking about the internet, you're talking about freaking historical
racism, you are talking about economic inequality. Like, girl, you got a lot going on here. Art, creativity, what?
Well, here, this is how this all meshes together. My mission, okay? Because of all of this, my mission is to help
people recognize their unique voice and use the internet as a tool for freedom, opportunity, and expression. I want more
people, especially those who come from communities historically excluded from wealth and influence, to understand that
their perspectives and skills have value. When people learn how to share their ideas and build ownership online,
they gain more than income. They gain control over time, the ability to support their families, and the power to
influence conversations that shape culture, all through the internet. So, you see how this all all of that
threaded together into my mission, okay? So, now, how does this translate into content? Well, I then take that personal
worldview document and then I make a brand map, okay? So, now that I have like the core of me, you know, which
also I'll add in, makes it really makes it much easier to deal with haters and stuff like that because I'm solid in me.
I know why I'm showing up online, you know? Makes it easy to be consistent because it's giving me enough structure,
right, to let my creativity flow through. So, the personal worldview document is Alexis like as a person, you
know? The brand map is how I turn myself into a brand online. So, it has my brand mission. Overall, it's to help people,
especially from historically marginalized communities, you know, recognize what I call their star
quality. It's your authentic self, but, you know, help them build ownership over their ideas, their skills, and
creativity and use the internet to create freedom, income, and impact. My mission is to show people that the
internet, again, Alexis the brand, is to show people that the internet is not just for influencers and entertainers,
it's a tool for publishing ideas, building community, and creating economic opportunity without needing
permission from traditional institutions. My work sits at the intersection of mindset, social
awareness, and practical strategy. I help people understand the systems shaping their lives, while also teaching
them how to build something for themselves within the digital economy. So, I then go into my audience, okay?
Who are the type of people that I'm talking to? Mostly, they're kind of people who are in their like ownership
era, okay? They're creatives, entrepreneurs, service providers, millennials, Gen Z, Gen X, usually. Due
to the topics, you know, that I bring in about historical racism, many from black, brown, immigrant, and
working-class backgrounds. These are people who are online, but they're not really using the internet to their full
advantage yet, or they lack consistency either in, you know, their frequency or just in their brand clarity. They don't
really know how to turn themselves into a brand. I then go into their psychographics, okay? So, this should
sound like y'all. Self-aware and socially conscious, okay? Questioning traditional career paths,
interested in personal development and freedom, tired of playing small, you know, and waiting for permission, aware
that these systems exist, but, you know, are unsure of how to navigate them. Then I go into the transformation. What What
do I help people do, you know? I help them go from being unsure, scattered ideas, posting inconsistently, comparing
themselves to others, you know, feeling like they have potential, but not knowing how to use it. And then after,
you know, my goal in helping them is I want them to be clear on what makes them unique, their star quality. It's cute
It's just a cute little branding, you know, with the middle name, Alexis Star O'Neal. I want them to be confident in
in expressing their voice online. I want to help them create structured content and brand strategies, you know, a
digital ecosystem that can turn their ideas into income. And I want to give them, you know, a sense of ownership
over themselves, their time, their life, their skills, their creativity. In short, you know, I just want y'all to go
from like holding yourself back to actually building something real online. And then, I turn all that into content
pillars. So, this is how we start taking this into content. These are pretty much Content pillars are basically themes
that are going to keep rotating and showing up in your content. That way your brand remains consistent, okay?
But, it gives you enough room to kind of like play within, you know? Cuz I don't want to just I can't just talk about,
you know, historical racism all the time. I can't just talk about digital strategy all the time. I don't want to
just talk about art all the time. You know, I can't. Like, I do There's too many layers to me. And I'm not always in
the mood for all any all of them or any of them. I don't want to talk about spirituality all the time. Like, I'm not
a guru. So, personally, my content pillars that I kind of rotate through, and I just also want to throw in here
that your brand will evolve with you. So, this is kind of where I'm at now, but maybe in like 2 years this is not
where my brand is going to be, you know? It's going to evolve with me as a person. But, what I can always do is
revisit and rewrite this, you know, so I maintain that structure and, you know, intention behind my content. But, for
now, you're going to hear a lot about, you know, me talking about your personal voice. It's kind of what I'm doing in
this video, you know? You were meant to express yourself, not fit into a niche, okay? So, I'm trying to help people
identify what makes them unique and how to express it online, okay? So, I could talk about finding your voice,
overcoming self-censorship, authenticity, you know, versus performance. This video again, having
confidence in your creativity. The next theme I go into is digital ownership and online business. And like these these
can overlap. They're overlapping in this video, but I teach people how to turn their knowledge, their experiences, and
creativity into income online, okay? So, I talk about building a personal brand, monetization paths, digital products and
services, turning content into opportunities. Another theme that I talk about a lot is systems awareness, you
know, breaking down how larger systems influence mindset, opportunity, and culture. So, I talk about imperialism, I
talk about social hierarchies and elitism, capitalism and productivity culture, you know, consumerism versus
ownership, and just kind of how these systems shape our beliefs about our self-worth and [ __ ] life, honestly.
The next theme I talk about a lot is creative life and, you know, expression. So, this one is kind of I show more of
it on my Instagram more, but as I bring my art brand, you know, back to life and stuff, this might come
through more in vlogs and stuff like that, you know, cuz it's easier to show creativity than to talk about it. But,
nonetheless, you know, you're going to see me practicing what I preach. So, using in the internet to show my
paintings, you know, or at least just encouraging others to live freely and creatively. Bring your visions to life.
I always say that, you know, I feel like it's our job. Like, God put the vision in us, it's our job to bring it to life.
But, you know, and then on top of an expression, that also leaves room for if I want to get into vlogs again. I
privated a lot of my vlogs cuz there's just, you know, some personal life stuff and I'm just like, I need some privacy
for now. But, who knows, you know, it leaves like I said, the whole point of this is to give you enough structure to
build a cohesive brand while also enough room for creativity. As an artist, as somebody who grew up in the art world
with my mom, my mom was an artist, like, living in LA, you know, I've seen so many creative people lack structure and
I think that is what could be the downfall, you know? And I've And then I watch others who are successful and I'm
like, oh, it's because they've learned how to structure their creativity, you know, to let it flow. So, that's kind of
like the purpose of this. But, yeah, you know, this this pillar more so is like so that I could show me embodying my
philosophy, right? And then lastly, another theme that is going to you're going to hear a lot in my content is
mindset, agency, and personal power, okay? Helping people remove fear and, you know, hesitation and move into
action, okay? Cuz as my dad would say, you're burning daylight. But, you know, these topics I talk about
are like playing small, confidence building, you know, discipline and consistency, um, you know, having
self-trust with your intuition, you know, it could it could teeter on spirituality as well. And so now, I
could create content within all of that, right? And as long as I'm kind of rotating through, my brand is going to
remain consistent. And this is how I allow myself to be, you know, experienced so many layers of me, the
core layers of me, of my values, right? And I'm not just trying to be only a lifestyle creator. I'm not just trying
to be only, you know, preaching about freaking social hierarchies. I'm not just only trying to be, you know,
talking about historical racism. Like, no, all of these things thread together through my mission, you know, and
through the themes that I talk about. That way people get to know me, you know? Y'all know what I like to do.
Y'all know what my values are. You know where my mind is, you know? You know what my skills are and how I might be
able to help you, you know? I do really hope that me going over this helped you so that you could kind of craft this for
yourself. And if you need help, you can hire me. I do have an option where I do have a 2-hour session where I will sit
here with you and I will do this with you, you know? Cuz sometimes what I find with my clients is like, y'all are so
used to being yourself, you don't realize what makes you you, you know? So, it's helpful to have somebody, me,
you know, who is going to sit there and actually prompt you, you know? I pull it out of you. You know, I ask you
questions, I have a conversation with you. This way I could pull it all out of you and then I will craft this these two
documents for you. So, that way you can see yourself more as a brand. Cuz we are living in first person, you know? So,
you're so used to being you, you're just it's normal to you, but like you don't understand how you and your experiences
and your talents and how you are going to do it is going to be special. It's going to be it's going to fill a gap in
the market, you know? So, yeah, I do have an option for that. And then I also have a 6-week program where it includes
that in the first 2 weeks and then the last few weeks are me actually helping you with your content. Like we build a
content strategy, I'll help you script out content, help you get more comfortable on camera, you know, get
your editing better, stuff like that. So, that one kind of goes more in-depth, but um nonetheless, you know, you can
still do it on your own, hopefully, you know, using this as an example. But overall, you know, you you should see
that like it's not about making the content first and trying to fit into a niche first. It's about you being clear
on you first. That way you could use the internet as a tool so that people could experience you. And you know, this
clarity is going to allow you to not feel confined so that you can express yourself fully and also not confuse your
audience, you know? But I do hope that this like inspires a new wave of creators because I just think that many
of us have conditioned ourselves to tie, you know, our worth to our output. And sometimes, you know, it could feel like,
especially in the internet content world, that like you producing, producing, producing equals your value.
You know, but no, it's your expression. Is you are already valuable. We are all valuable as human beings, you know? Um
it's just you learning how to package that and and share it online. Or, you know, we we tie like the views part to
validation. But like, look, baby, I will tell you this. I have like 20-something K on here, right? I've been growing on
Instagram, whatever. I have not can't get to the point where I'm growing if I don't act like that person first,
you know? So, you got to know your value first and be clear on it. That way the world will meet you after that, you
know? I had to make the content first. The my last video, it's brought in hundreds of [ __ ] subscribers. I had
to know my value in my message first, make the video, and then people found me, you know? So, it all starts with
you. The views is a byproduct, okay? You got to validate you first and then the world will meet you there. And I
I guess I bring this up because it's like those things stop creators in the beginning, you know? You're not getting
that validation, you're not getting the views, you're not getting, you know, you're not feeling like you are having
value just because the world is not telling you so in like the internet world, right? And it doesn't just
affect, you know, creators. I think it affects consumers as well because when you only see a certain type of person, a
certain type of aesthetic and a lifestyle doing well online, then you feel like many people feel like they
have to mimic that, you know? And even if they don't seriously, like think about it, like even if they don't make
content, so many people just follow the trends that they see online. That's why, you know, content shapes culture, too,
and that's why I want to encourage more people, you know, like no, no, no, let's make this more human again, you know?
Like we need to vary it up. Like it's not just the internet, like it it affects how people feel offline, too.
>> [laughter] >> It's like, you know, whatever trends are in, you see people doing, whatever body
type, which is insane, but like for real, body how people's body image is affected by it, how much money they feel
like they should be making, you know, because we see certain lifestyles, you know, we have so much access online. It
affects how people think, you know? It affects how people see themselves. I mean, and in a good way, too, like it
affects what people are able to see is possible. But because we've already, you know, we're living within this system of
imperialist capitalism, those values of elitism definitely like trickled into the internet. So, it's kind of like, of
course, like the internet is going to reflect that, right? Like inadvertently, like we're going to build systems that
also reward performance over authenticity. But I don't know. I I'm like
>> [snorts] >> I'm not leaning into it. >> [laughter]
>> I'm like, let's create like a little counterculture to that, you know? I want more real people, you know? Cuz the
internet again is just a tool. And I think that like people get turned off cuz they're like, I don't want to be an
influencer, I don't want to be a content creator, did it, you know? But it's like take the bias off of those words, you
know? You can influence people in a positive way. You can influence people by sharing knowledge, right? You can
influence people by sharing your story and lessons you've learned. You can influence people by sharing your
creations and your art, you know? Like I just feel like the people who should be online hold themselves back because they
see the people who are doing well online and they kind of think like, oh, well, I'm not like that, so, you know, the
internet's not going to reward me, but like it's not it's not about that. There's so many people probably waiting
for you to make the content that, you know, you are meant to make. We're [ __ ] tired of all the same [ __ ] Let
me just be [ __ ] real. I'm so tired. I'm so tired. Like I'm so tired of everybody doing the same type of
content, you know? And just I'm like, God, I I like I'm just like dying for like authenticity.
>> [laughter] >> And I think it this kind of reflects our shadow side, too, you know? Like we
think that because it's we're not represented, the certain aspects of us are not represented in popular media
online, like we think that we have to shun and like hide those parts of ourself. But I don't give a [ __ ] okay?
Look, I'm in so many different areas online and I'm like, and the people love me. No, I'm just kidding.
>> [laughter] >> I was about to get all cocky. No, but like, you know, I'm growing, I'm doing
well, like I'm it's going on an incline, like I am not like other social media managers online. I am not like other,
you know, commentators online. I am not like other lifestyle influencers online and that is beautiful, you know? That's
beautiful. That's why I stand out. That's why I shine. And I feel like I'm just here to help other people do that,
too. Maybe that's why, you know, they named me Alexis Star, you know? Help you remember that you're a star, too.
And I think that Alexis means like it's like defender of people or something or like friend to people. It's something
like that. I'll put it on screen. But yeah, just to wrap this up with a kind of like a more spiritual note, you know?
I just I I think that we we're here to experience life and to express ourself and to know ourself, you know? And I
think we all hold a piece I always say this, but like we all hold a piece of the puzzle of life. I see that like if
life, if God, consciousness, whatever you want to call it, you know, is the ocean, you know? Like we are all just
little raindrops. Eventually, we're going to all going to go back to the ocean. That's how I see it, you know?
And while we're here as our little raindrop selves, it's beautiful to be able to share our perspective and how we
have experienced life with one another. No one is perfect. No one has all the answers. We all hold the little piece of
the puzzle, though. And the internet is such a beautiful tool for us to be able to express that. I'm so grateful for the
internet, you know? I have gotten I have got the privilege to see what life is like inside of [ __ ] rich homes, you
know? I've been in gotten to see, you know, what conversations are had at college panels that I've never had the
chance to go to. I've gotten to see art, you know, that just people have shared online that, you know, I'm not in a
gallery to see that. I'm not, you know, I'm not in the geographical location to experience that in person. And wow, how
amazing that the internet has allowed us to do that with one another, you know? And to share a message and to and to
communicate and to find community online. And we can take it offline, too, obviously, you know? Like that's
awesome. It's just a tool. It's just a tool for us. And so, I've been yapping for a while, so I'll leave y'all with
this, you know? You're not here to fit in, okay? You don't need to fit into what's popular on the internet. You're
here to bring something through it, okay? Again, internet as a tool. Don't be the tool for it. When you conform and
you start performing, you become the [ __ ] tool for the internet. And I'm not no [ __ ] tool for the internet,
okay? >> [laughter] >> I'm so anti like any everything. I'm
like, nope. Uh-uh. Like I want as much independence as my own where myself as I possibly can. And so, I don't want to
just be an internet baddie. I don't want to only just be a social media manager. I don't just only want to be nothing.
No, I'm Alexis [ __ ] Star O'Neal, okay? And y'all going to experience this.
>> [laughter] >> You know, I'm not boxed in, okay? I am not being boxed in. So, look, y'all, if
if you need help with that, you know, turning yourself into a brand and kind of building a strategy around it, you
can definitely apply to work with me. I have my website through, you know, the description. But even if not, stop
thinking about content in a way that like for people to consume you. Think about it in a way for people to
experience you.
Embracing a multi-faceted online identity allows creators to express their true selves beyond narrow niches, fostering authenticity and deeper connections with their audience. It encourages integrating diverse interests—such as art, entrepreneurship, and spirituality—into a cohesive personal brand, which differentiates creators in crowded digital spaces and supports sustained growth.
Start by creating a Personal Worldview Document that outlines your core values, interests, and life experiences, providing a clear foundation for your brand. From this, craft a unified personal mission that connects your different passions, ensuring consistency and clarity in your messaging while authentically representing your multi-dimensional identity.
Effective content pillars might include: Personal Voice & Authenticity to share unique perspectives; Digital Ownership & Online Business focusing on sustainable monetization; Systems Awareness examining social and economic influences; Creative Life highlighting art and storytelling; and Mindset & Personal Power to build confidence and consistent action. These pillars balance consistency with diversity, keeping content engaging and aligned with your mission.
Focus on your authentic "why" rather than conforming to viral trends or narrowly defined niches. Use your personal mission to connect your various interests, and create content that reflects your complex identity. This approach not only preserves your authenticity but also attracts audiences interested in genuine, multifaceted stories and ideas.
Creators should recognize attention as energy to be respected rather than exploited, valuing authentic expression over performance metrics like views or followers. By anchoring self-worth in their values and mission—not external validation—they cultivate resilience and sustainable engagement, leading to long-term brand growth and personal fulfillment.
Digital ownership enables creators to control their content, audience relationships, and revenue streams without relying on exploitative platform dynamics. This empowerment supports marginalized voices by fostering independence, amplifying diverse perspectives, and allowing creators to build sustainable businesses aligned with their social values and mission for impact.
Begin by defining your authentic self and clarifying your personal mission rooted in your worldview and values. Conduct a brand audit to assess your current content alignment, then develop content pillars that reflect your multi-dimensional identity. Prioritize consistent, value-driven content creation over chasing virality, and consider coaching or mentorship programs for structured guidance.
