Fact Check: UK Civil War, China's Vladivostok Invasion, and Geopolitical Threats
Low Credibility
0 verified, 3 misleading, 4 false, 0 unverifiable out of 7 claims analyzed
The video transcript presents a highly speculative and alarmist view of global and UK security, lacking evidence or verification from credible sources. The speakers predict an imminent UK civil war (unverifiable and alarmist), a Chinese invasion of Vladivostok (false and purely speculative), and make numerous factual errors about Russia's navy, population, and the UK's civil war history. The claims about tariffs and China's vulnerability are simplistic and misleading. The overall credibility is very low, with a score of 12 out of 100, indicating that the video should not be relied upon for factual information about geopolitics or conflict risks.
Claims analysis
The UK is close to a civil war breaking out.
This is a speculative and alarmist claim without evidence of imminent civil war. While political tensions exist, credible security and conflict analysis sources do not indicate a significant risk of a new civil war in the UK. The speakers' self-promotion of a book on the topic further suggests this is opinion rather than verified fact.
The last UK civil war was the Jacobite Rebellion in the 1600s/1700s.
The Jacobite rebellions of 1715 and 1745 were uprisings, not a full civil war. The most recent accepted civil war in Britain was the English Civil War (1642–1651). The Jacobite risings are separate events, and there have been more recent conflicts like the Irish Civil War (1922–1923), though that primarily involved parts of the UK.
China will invade and annex Vladivostok from Russia.
This is a speculative geopolitical scenario with no evidence from credible intelligence or defense sources. There are no current indications of Chinese military plans to seize Russian territory. The claim misrepresents the bilateral relationship between China and Russia, which is currently strategic and cooperative. The historical context of Vladivostok being Chinese is oversimplified and irrelevant to modern geopolitics.
Russia only has one aircraft carrier and it cannot set sail.
Russia's only aircraft carrier is the Admiral Kuznetsov, which has been in refit and has had operational issues. However, it has set sail in the past (e.g., 2016 deployment to Syria). The implication that it has no aircraft carrier capability is misleading, as Russia relies on shore-based aviation and has other naval assets.
Russia's population is about 190 million and falling fast.
Russia's population is approximately 144 million (2024 estimates), not 190 million. While Russia's population is declining due to low birth rates and high mortality, the speaker's figure is highly inflated. The current UN estimate is 144.2 million.
China is not the biggest country in the world anymore.
This is ambiguous. China is not the largest by area (Russia, Canada, USA, etc. are larger). By population, India overtook China in 2023, so China is no longer the most populous. The phrasing is misleading as it implies a major shift, but China remains the second most populous and one of the largest by area.
A 1,000% tariff on Chinese goods would finish China.
This is a simplistic and false claim. While tariffs could harm China's economy, a 1000% tariff on all goods is unrealistic and would trigger massive retaliation, harming the UK economy severely. China's economy is large and resilient, and such a tariff would not 'finish' China.
At the moment, we have a war, but it's an internal war in this country. We're so close to civil war
breaking out. And and that's what we need to worry about. >> Yeah, that's where the war is going to
be. We're not going to go abroad. We're not going to go have an expeditionary force. There's going to be no more
Dunkirks or operation, um, you know, uh, Overlord or anything like that. No, the next war will be the next latest British
Civil War. Plenty of them, let's face it. When's the last Civil War? The Jacobite
Rebellion? 1600s, 1700s? Um, yeah, we're about to have another one,
aren't we? >> I think we are, and it's coming, and I'm actually writing a book on that at the
moment. I'm hoping to publish it end of next month. It's called UK Civil War, A Disunited Kingdom. So, I'm working on
that full-time at the moment, and I'll send you a copy once it's done. And we we will see. But, to round up
this conversation, we're not under threat of being invaded. We're not really under threat at all from Russia
or China at the moment. China will be, I I I know that, but not at the moment. There's no need for Home Guard. That's
all spin and PR, which Andy Burnham thinks is amazing at. And if we are going to fight, it's going to be against
our government, cuz they seem to be the biggest enemy we seem to have at the moment.
>> I'm going to give you a bit of, um, contextual warfare to come.
China is going to have an invasion. But, it's not going to invade where you think it's going to invade.
Everyone is assuming it's it's going to go for Taipei. Um,
I think China knows that that won't be a thing. That won't happen. If they go for Taipei,
um, the backlash against them by the West would break their economy.
But, if you go north, if you're in China and you go to
that top right hand corner and you go round the corner and you got Vladivostok. So, you got the top of
North Korea, go round the corner from Vladivostok, that whole region. Previously, that used to be Chinese.
In the same way as Gdansk used to be Danzig in Poland. It used to be German. And that was the whole thing about
Germany invading Poland to get Danzig the port back. Well, I have a feeling that China is
going to go hip round and take uh Vladivostok. Um that seems to be a flash point at the
moment and I don't think there's anything the Russians can do. It's a major, major Russian port. It's
their It's the Russian navy's gateway to the Pacific. But, Russians don't really have a navy in the Pacific cuz
well, they don't really have a much of a navy at all. They've only got one um one aircraft carrier and that I think
can't even set sail. So, um in terms of um Russian sea power, it's not much. But, I think China would
take that like that and just annex it and then just slowly eat their way up, you know, up that whole
Irkutsk Yakutsk What's it? Yakuts? That sort of area. Um and they just start eating Russia
from the from the outside like cancer, like a tumor, just slowly take it over. There's literally nothing Russia can do.
Russia doesn't even got something like 190 million people. And falling fast.
China's still big, but it's not the biggest country in the world anymore. It's still got over a billion people.
So, you know, who's going to stop them? But, that's
going to be the threat. Well, I'm sorry, that's halfway round the world. Those two can fight each other as much as they
like and it won't affect us. >> It's exactly I I I I we would keep out of that because we see
enemy we see Russia as an we see China as an enemy, and they're like, you two scrap it out, we don't care.
>> Yeah. I mean, Russia They both are enemies, but we can deal with Russia
because we need their oil and gas. But we can screw China simply by going boom.
1,000% tariff on all Chinese goods. China's finished. >> Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. But we're not going to be invaded. We can't foresee a war in the short term. Doesn't mean one won't
pop up, but we can't foresee one. >> You can't see a foreign war. You can't see a foreign war. You can't see a war
with The only The only threat we really have is Russia. There is um How can we put it?
Um a pseudo war with Iran, but that would only be activists and um sort of subversives coming in and doing
maybe a few atrocities, a bomb here or whatever, but it won't be a full-scale war.
Um and if we start funding our security forces again, that would help. But no, the only The only war that's going to
happen in Britain will be the civil war. >> Unfortunately, I completely agree with you.
