Hello everyone, you're welcome to my channel. Today we are continuing with organizational psychology and today we
are going to be talking about industrial leadership and we are going to start with who is a leader or what is
leadership and we understand that a leader is anyone that directs people and influences people or others to
achieve a goal. He takes cognizance of people's abilities and capabilities and takes advantage of that to do what? Um
to achieve goals uh to achieve set goals. Yes. He as a leader is one that communicates well. He has a good
communication skill. A leader is one that could with ease communicate the vision and the mission of the
organization and will influence the others the colleagues to achieve a particular
common goal. Yes, a leadership if we can look at it in other way is um the ability of managers.
The ability of managers to uh to make sound decisions and inspire others to perform well and achieve uh a good uh
outcome. Yes. It is also looked as the process of directing others to achieve a common
goal as we have said before. So getting done towards others um with others and everything. The
purpose of leadership is to win the minds of others. Yes. to win the mind of others and
giving by giving them clear understanding of what to do, why it should be done and how it should be
done. Yes. uh winning their mind by generating like this inspir inspiring them generating
this challenge uh in them. They challenging them to achieve or to inspire them to achieve
right to become more committed. uh yes to even feel committed and feel owning like that feeling of ownership to
the purpose of the organization or in the organization. The basic principles of uh leadership includes um
there must be a common shared goal. A a a common shared goal. The one the leader must be able to communicate. Yes. with
clear strategies that it uh for pursuing that particular goal. Yes, the heart and mind must be together.
The heart and the mind must be together in a sense that the leaders the leader or the leadership must be able to
state in clear times the vision the mission and purpose of the organization or that particular goal to be achieved.
Yes, it must be very intellectual. Yes. And must appeal to their emotions. Yes. Yes.
Using power and authority. Yeah. Positional power in this situation, right? To gain that
commitment with those subordinates. Yes. Um so uh we are also going to be looking at
the importance of um industrial leadership. Yes. So you will understand that with good leadership or with good
leader and with the right leadership style right there is always this increased motivation among members
and it two it leads to high productivity. Yes. Uh it also helps to respond to change. Number three. Yeah.
It it facilitates organizational success by creating this feeling sense of responsibility and accountability among
the members of the organization. Yeah. Uh it increases um it increases the values
the values in the organization. Yeah. These are the importance of leadership and if I may add good leader or good
leadership or the essence of leadership. Yeah. we we may want to differentiate between who is a leader and who is a
manager right it will be very important uh for a good essay and for a good write up for your adequate scores I may have
to add it here really as a student of psychology or industrial psychology or organizational psychology as we are
doing now we understand that we have to really extensively uh um do what we want to do so we have
tked about the princ what what is a lead who is a leader what is leadership um the principles of leadership um the
importance of leadership we may want to also differentiate between who is a leader and who is a manager so the one
difference is that uh in their method yes in their method of um leadership if or management let me use
that word right yeah so you see that managers are gogetters but a leader is is someone that guides people follow a
leader guides and people follow the person. Yes. Right. So he guides and directs others. He is not one that will
dish out the goal for others to get. He is he he he inclusive in the pursuit of that goal. Yes.
Um while a manager is one that is having the responsibility to direct Yes. to
direct to control the staff uh the work and the staff. Yes. In the organization the leader
uh is the is a person that is part of it. Yes. He leads by example while uh a manager dictates expectation. Right.
Yes. Exactly. So uh a leader is an innovator and a creator. Yes. A leader can get up new things, new
ideas and everything while a manager is a commander. Yeah. A a leader deals with a change whether negative or positive. A
leader is geared up to deal with it while um a manager a manager is the one that plans for a change. Yes, that is uh
some of the difference. Others uh a manager can also a manager can be seen as someone that directs how to do
something, right? But a leader is is the one that plans for everything, right? So like I said
a leader directs and is there for the thing to be done and everything and step by step while a manager a manager is one
that plans for it and gives the blueprint for it to be done all of those things right. So a a leader have a
quality of controlling people uh not no not control encourage people while a manager um is the one that
controls. A leader handles communication credibly. Yes. very effectively
and even empowerment like he can be as with the people he can talk to them but a manager will deal with organizing
staffing want to organize things with protocols in bureaucracy every thing. So this is the little things we need to
know and differences between a leader and a manager. So in this video we have tried to attempt who or the concept of
industrial leadership. Yes. And the principles of leadership, importance of leadership in an organization and
differences between a leader and a manager. So please remember to subscribe, like and comment at the
comment box and thank you very much and see you in the next video. We will be talking about leadership styles. Thank
you very much.
The key principles of industrial leadership include establishing a common shared goal that everyone works toward, ensuring clear communication of the vision, mission, and strategies, aligning both the emotional (heart) and intellectual (mind) commitment of team members, and appropriately using power and authority to gain genuine commitment. Focusing on these elements helps create a motivated and productive team environment.
Industrial leaders inspire, guide, and encourage innovation and proactive adaptability by connecting with team members inclusively and leading by example. In contrast, managers focus on directing, controlling, planning, organizing, and staffing tasks. While managers execute plans and maintain order, leaders focus on motivation, empowerment, and fostering commitment toward shared goals.
Leadership in industrial contexts enhances motivation, boosts productivity through effective guidance, helps organizations adapt to change proactively, fosters a sense of responsibility and accountability among team members, and strengthens the organization’s core values and culture. These factors collectively contribute to achieving organizational success and sustainability.
Effective communication involves clearly articulating not only what needs to be done but also why and how it aligns with the organization's vision and mission. Leaders should ensure the message resonates both intellectually and emotionally with team members, fostering understanding and commitment. Using credible and transparent communication channels enhances trust and engagement.
To become a respected leader without overworking, focus on working smarter by setting clear priorities, delegating tasks appropriately, and maintaining authentic relationships with your team. Lead by example, communicate effectively, and avoid people-pleasing by setting healthy boundaries. These strategies help balance effectiveness with well-being while building respect.
Recognizing the distinct roles helps organizations nurture both leadership qualities—such as inspiration, innovation, and empowerment—and management skills, like planning, control, and organization. This balance enables smoother operations and creates a dynamic work environment where teams are motivated and processes are executed efficiently, ultimately improving overall performance.
