role playing games have always been a staple of video games but we got a lot of good ones coming up this year in 2025
hi folks it's Falcon and today on game ranks the top 25 new RPGs of 2025 starting off with number 25 it's Elden
ring night rain this one's coming to us of course by from software published by Bondi Namco it's a standalone Adventure
within Elden ring that basically gives us a Cooperative Rogue Light Within the El and ring world you're going to
cooperate with two other people teams of three and you're going to have a procedurally generated world with the
shrinking Battlefield I don't know it's a really interesting concept normally you would hear that in like a
competitive thing but it's not it's Cooperative which honestly makes me fairly excited because I mean it's
something completely new from from yes it's in the Elder ring world but no it's not something like anything they've made
prior Elder ring night rain is coming sometime this year for the PlayStations the Xboxes and
PC and number four we have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the last Ronin from Black Forest Games published by txq
Nordic this is a little darker more of a mature type of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game kind of a a sad one too um
you're the only of the four that's left the other three have been taken out as well as Master Splinter um kind of looks
like God of War the reboot but you know it's Ninja Turtles and it's kind of a dark idea it looks very interesting to
me it's definitely one that I want to play um it is coming coming out sometime this year for PS5 Xbox series and
PC at number 23 we have neverness to everness from hottest Studio A free-to-play open world action RPG set
in the city of and if I'm saying this wrong in my apologies but heo basically you're going around the city checking
out anomalies investigating weird happenings the combat I think is kind of the Highlight it's a very cool looking
uh combat system very fast reminds me of a platinum type game but you got this big city open World um from the previews
that we've seen it looks like you're even going to be able to use a car I mean I don't want to jump the gun here
and say it's like a more typical anime version of near autom in terms of you have a city and uh the ability to
Traverse around but in some ways it kind of looks like that I don't know it's definitely something somewhat different
looking the anime Tokyo City alone as an open world is is cool enough to at least warrant a second look neverness to
everness is coming out this year sometime for PS5 mobile and PC at number 22 we have Game of Thrones
Kings Road developed and published by net marble a an action adventure RPG set in Westrose um essentially you're a
bastard from house Tire a northern minor Noble family you're defending their ancestral home and supporting the
knights watch against the White Walkers you got various classes different play Styles there's uh familiar characters
like Jon Snow varies the Lannisters it's a I mean I'm not exactly sure what to make of it yet but if they land it it'll
definitely be real cool game of throws Kings Road is coming in 2025 to PC and mobile and number 21 is where winds meet
coming to us by way of everone Studios through net ease an open world action adventure RPG set in ancient China
during the five dynasties and 10 kingdoms period this is an absolutely visually stunning looking game it's a
fairly extensive looking game I don't know exactly what the story is going to be but obviously you are set in a time
period of political Intrigue and warfare all that you got uh Chinese martial arts weapons skills bows Arrows Long swords
twin blades and taiichi you got tons of stuff to look at here in some ways it looks like it takes a little inspiration
from Ghost of sushima at least visually speaking but it's got a little bit of a sakuro um Shadows twice feel to it in
terms of how it moves around at least from everything I've seen they do have a little bit of the parkour of Assassin's
Creed in there as well I don't know it's one of those things that again you can sense little hints of influences all
over the place but it's really how it comes together in the end so we will see what that looks like when where winds
a game from a couple of former Elder Scroll developers it's an open world fantasy RPG that absolutely will conjure
those games for you interestingly enough the design philosophy is as such they want the kind of modern technology the
stuff that you know from the more recent those types of games but with the ideas of Daggerfall the second Elder Scrolls
game that came out in 1996 um it's an open world game very very big and procedurally generated just like the
original Elder Scrolls are Arena Wayward Realms is actually going to take a similar approach although the way it
does it is a little different it's going to feel a little more handcrafted it's an interesting looking game honestly I
do kind of miss those really old Elder Scrolls game they're they're they're kind of weird and janky in a way but in
a good way it really was unprecedented the amount of world there was even if sometimes it was kind of repetitive um
wward Realms is coming I don't know exactly when this year but it is in development for PC and number 19 lost
soul aside uh this one is by all to zero games but it's published by PlayStation Studios this is a game that's got some
uh Final Fantasy 16 Vibes you got sort of Devil May cish type battle system maybe little bit of ninja guidy looking
stuff going on in a very obviously Final Fantasy inspired World um it's got the semiopen World visual style even
character movement stuff that looks like Final Fantasy 16 this was actually originally just a solo project by a
single developer but clearly it had a good reason to be elevated and published by PlayStation Studios I don't know it
looks like it could be pretty good A lot of these Chinese games are kind of coming out of nowhere and being huge I
wouldn't be shocked if they're kind of out Final Fantasy 16 in Final Fantasy 16 we'll see though when L Sol aside lands
sometime this year on PS5 and PC moving on to number 18 it's Neo Berlin 2087 coming to us by the elesium
game studio uh guess where it's set you got it in Berlin in the year 2087 it's kind of a cyberpunk story they're
talking about the two class system with an afflu like Rich class and a lesser class and impoverished class I don't
know it seems like that's not really that like future dystopia but if that's what they got to do to talk about it
that's what they got to do to talk about it it's a pretty looking game very cinematic looking um we don't know
exactly what the story is about other than the class thing so I mean makes sense I don't know exactly if it's going
to be a big old open world RPG the same as cyber Punk but it does look like it's taking a lot of inspiration from cyber
though and at number 17 we have vampire the Masquerade bloodlines 2 uh coming to us from the Chinese room obviously we
don't really get a vampire the Masquerade game that often so it's kind of an event if you've ever played the
original it's similar but different in certain ways first off the original is in Los Angeles this one's in Seattle
it's had a troubled development uh the Chinese room obviously known for everybody's gone to the Rapture kind of
different than hard suit Labs who's previously developing it but uh I don't know it doesn't look massively different
but some some difference looks like they got the combat a little bit more um more better let's say vampire the mass great
PC moving on to 16 is Ballad of antara a free-to-play action RPG from what I'm observing it has a lot in common with
genjin impact obviously looks very different in terms of aesthetic but you're talking the same kinds of multi
character systems possible gacha mechanics I will say where genjin impact kind of leans towards a Zelda looking
Affair in some ways this also looks a lot like uh a maybe a Dark Souls or Elden ring type combat at the very least
I don't know about necessarily progression is how this world works and then there's a little bit of Monster
Hunter thrown in at least that's the stuff that I'm seeing from it it's a very pretty look to it moves a bit
faster than Dark Souls uh maybe uh little bit of that black myth Wukong might be kind of there I don't know if
it's uh enough time has passed for that to be an influence on games but uh wouldn't be shocked I think they put a
lot of different mechanics on top of genjin impact gave it a little bit more serious of a look I think it looks cool
I think it does look cool it does have a plot that kind of reminds me of Zelda without Ganon although it's a missed
they're calling the uh thing that's descended upon the world an unknown malice so I don't know seems like a lot
of different influences might make something cool Ballad of onara is coming to PS5 sometime this
year and number 15 is the outer Worlds 2 hey you know how I I pretty much like Champion anytime obsidian is like doing
Bethesda well this is this is another one uh the last one the first outer worlds not actually the last RPG like
that from obsidian but the last outer worlds was a pretty well-liked game not just with um critics but with Gamers it
was a kind of like somewhere between Fallout and Starfield maybe a Fallout was a kind of sci-fi space oriented
story I don't know I I really enjoyed it I thought it was a great game I'm very ready for a sequel to it to be frank and
the outer Worlds 2 is coming uh sometime this year for PS5 Xbox series PC and number 14 is Assassin's Creed
Shadows Manas Ubisoft have some splaining to do in the form of their newest Assassin's Creed game kind of
their most important game ever they've messed up a lot in previous years and they need to show us they can do things
right again it's kind of been a slow tumble for a long time and from what we've seen with Assassin's Creed Shadows
it does look like an actually interesting dis game you got two protagonists two different types of
gameplay more um tank style stuff with Yas who is actually based on a historical figure um and the second
character is a stealth-based uh woman who is entirely fictional not based on a historical figure I mean they've done a
lot to kind of expand on I think Mirage because I think Mirage is kind of what got the response from people people have
gotten a little wary of the larger less focused affairs uh but also this is probably at least
taking some influence from that I have to imagine it's going to be an interesting game whether good or not I
think in my heart of hearts it is uh going to be a good game they know what's rioting on it and I feel like they know
what they're doing and they need to they need to pull something off here I think that they are uh but I also think
there's possibility they just fail at it we'll see they have to do well in order for uh their long-term longevity to
exist lot riding on it uh Assassin's Creed Shadows coming March 20th on Xbox series PS5 PC streaming services and
iPad and number 13 is AOW another Obsidian Entertainment uh RPG kind of like a Bethesda game I think they have
realized that they can get a a whole lot of uh good out of that um this game is actually set in the pillars of Eternity
world it's first person action RPG in a lot of ways it just looks like Skyrim in Pillars of Eternity that's not a bad
thing it's actually a very good thing there's plague you're fighting it I mean again it's obsidian doing Bethesda or at
least that's what it looks like to me and I'm always there uh in a lot of ways if this wasn't obsidian is not something
I would be automatically interested in but it is so I am they know what they're doing with this type of a game and I
believe in them whereas if it was somebody else it looks a little generic and you would kind of expect it to be
gener Eric that's the difference here the obsidian difference aou is coming February 18th to Xbox series and PC and
number 12 is the first Berserker cin an action RPG kind of a Souls likee set in the dungeon and fighter Universe set 800
years before dungeon Fighter online which is an ongoing uh multiplayer action RPG this kind of just explaining
expanding the lore of the game the big thing there kind of hinging the advertising on his boss battles and they
do look very cool uh it has the sort of skill BAS timing based thing you might expect from a Souls leg it does have its
own look its own feel with this cell shaded looking art style that's not I don't want to completely call it self
shaded it's a different art style I like it first Berserker cin is coming March 27th for PS5 Xbox series and
PC and number 11 is Phantom Blade zero an action RPG that uh I don't know I hesitate to call everything a Soul's
like but uh you literally are a character named Soul like s o u l Soul you're an assassin um I mean there's a
couple of things that remind me of Assassin's Creed but it really looks more like a Souls like to me semiopen
world maybe a little bit faster paced combat than the Souls game maybe more of a a Wukong style I'm all right with that
kind of a Chinese steampunky type game it's been something we've seen for a while and it does look very cool we
don't have a specific release date but Phantom Blade zero is coming sometime this year for PS5 and PC and and number
10 is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 this one's been a long time coming and if you're looking for a more solid a more
extensive and a just overall better version of the experience that you had with the first game this is where to go
they did a fantastic job upgrading some of the systems in this game Jake did a really good breakdown of everything uh
both in a before you buy and in a 10 things that they don't tell you video if you want to check those out uh I think
that it's a pretty safe purch if you like the first game you'll probably like this one better Kingdom Come Deliverance
2 is already out you can get it right now and I would advise that you do if you are even vaguely interested cuz it
does deliver and number nine is Fable hey you remember Fable I do it was something that was promised to be much
bigger than it was but the thing that ended up being something I actually really really like that said the
original Three games were developed by Peter M andu headed Studios and uh this one is not this is a reboot you got
humor and F fantasy but I don't know if you'll have the exact same kind of humor I don't really know there's a lot up in
the air with this the whole point of fable is that all of your choices vastly impact the world and how everything is
going I don't know how exactly they're going to do that cuz they haven't really done something as expansive as Fable in
that respect in quite a while Like Fable had stories but the thing that really mattered was what the world looked like
by the end of the game and in recent years a lot of games that you know kind of do have quote unquote choice they
don't NE necessarily physically impact the world in the way that it did in FA in Fable I don't know we'll see the
Fable is coming out sometime this year for Xbox series and PC and number eight is Claire obscure
Expedition 33 uh sort of dark fantasy world it's a turn-based RPG which is interesting I guess there's some element
of real time but at its core it's turn-based um there's this woman called The paintress Who basically kills off
anybody eded blank when she paints it on a big old thing that's obviously the uh the Crux of the story you're on an
expedition to stop her it's the 33rd Expedition and um I'm guessing there's going to be a Twist where the Expedition
somehow keep the paintress going rather than stop her like I just have this idea that the main character woman the idea
is to make her the new paintress or something I don't know I've been I've been hacking away at the uh the story of
this one every time we talk about it I just had that feeling I'll be excited to to share with everybody whether I'm
PC and number seven is alcahest brought To Us by a developer called push on a medieval first person action RPG that's
oriented towards melee basically you are the son of a petty Lord and you're sent to investigate these goblin raids On the
Border this is an Alchemy oriented game as well uh so I would guess uh you're going to be crafting a lot um you'll be
using Alchemy to heal yourself probably uh I you probably make grenade like things weapons weapon enhancement
something consumables based on what we've seen in the trailer that would be my guess it looks pretty interesting it
is currently in development uh supposedly coming this year we don't know exactly when though and it is
coming to the PC and number six is soul frame kind of a free-to-play MMO RPG from the people
who make Warframe digital extremes yes it is actually a game that is that I don't know if you'd have told me that
the Warframe people are like let's let's do fantasy now i' would have been like really but it actually does look pretty
cool what we basically have to think of is you know Warframe isn't tedious in the way a lot of uh these types of games
are so I have to assume that Soul frame won't be it's also very very different in look I mean warframe's popular for a
reason and I think soulr probably has learned a lot of the lessons from Warframe so I mean it's fantasy from the
Warframe people that's basically what you're looking at here it is coming out sometime this year for PC
and number five is Vikings Destiny by the digital Daredevils basically you're a Viking that survived the Shipwreck you
got to gather resources build shelters and essentially create a a settlement there's a lot going on here it's not
just um collect things and craft there's also um kind of management some sound and stuff the resource allocation
Workforce assignments Village expansion City Planning etc etc I don't know exactly to what extent uh it's going to
land between the Spectrum of survival and and management but we'll see it does look interesting to me if I had to guess
I'd guess closer to survival Vikings Destiny is going to enter Early Access on PC late this year and number four is
Monster Hunter Wilds Capcom doesn't play around with monster hunter um the way I like to characterize Wilds is world but
rise it looks like it's incorporating a lot of the verticality of Rise but it obviously in terms of quality graphical
Fidelity Etc it is defin the followup to Wild that said again rise uh was a lot more colorful of a game and so is this
uh I like that a lot I mean you know what monster hunter is at this point there's not really any story that is
going to particularly you know shake that world up you're a Monster Hunter and you hunt monsters yeah there's
character stuff but uh honestly I could do with a little less of that and just give me the uh glorious gameplay of
Monster Hunter um Monster Hunter Wilds I'm I'm highly anticipating uh it's coming out February 28th for PS5 Xbox
straight up they're not even trying to come up with other words for it which I honestly I don't care so much about I
know I know a lot of people do but honestly I'm fine with there being a genre called Souls like I'm fine with it
this one takes place during the Ming Dynasty it is full-blown fantasy it is not a historical story there is a a
disease going on a plague that is causing humans to transform into monstrous beings not something that
happened in history um does have a very interesting aesthetic a lot of uh energy floating around in this one and I don't
I don't hate that it's it's nice looking uh you have the Feathering disease as they call it it's something that you are
slowly transforming and you you're harnessing I don't know if the story is you're trying to stop it or you're
embracing it or what have you but it's a very cool looking game ruong Fallen feathers is coming to PS5 Xbox series
and P see sometime this year and number two is the gothic one remake the original Gothic the woe wow wow Gothic
sometimes praised as a very ahead ofit Time game sometimes talked about how janky it could be alchemia interactive
is developing this one though it does look obviously a lot better than the original Gothic the idea uh according to
the developers is to modernize but preserve The Core Essence honestly I know a lot of people love piranha bites
and this was the first piranha gam it was the first in the series by the time we were playing Alex I was pretty burnt
out on their formula I'm all for modernizing Gothic and making it something that's a little bit more
tolerable and I'm actually very interested in this one it has the potential to take what is a classic game
that really did a lot and make it a little bit more you know not janky as hell that's coming out uh sometime this
year for PS5 Xbox series and PC and finally at number one uh basically the same type of thing uh The
Witcher remake I am not interested in returning to Witcher as it was released back in 2007 I am interested in playing
that story again I'm not interested in playing that game again so they're remaking it in a way that is making it
more in line with The Witcher 3 which I am absolutely all about please do this with The Witcher 2 as well CD project
red um we do not have a date supposedly this one is coming this year um I have my thoughts that it's probably next year
we'll see uh I'm excited enough that I'd rather talk about it than not though between Gothic and this it's the perfect
like let's make passable games out of some janky Classics that are really tough to return to I'm All About That
